for the HTC EVO V 4G / EVO 3D (CDMA):
Best phone released so far this year
Don't buy the EVO 3D simply because it has a three-dimensional stereoscopic display; buy it because it has a dual-core CPU, 4.3" qHD screen, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 4G WiMAX data, and HTC Sense 3.0. Too many people dismiss the EVO 3D as a "gimmick" because of the parallax-barrier 3D display but forget that even without the 3D functionality, it's still the best phone on the market. Do not be fooled like so many have. I can ...

for the Samsung Intercept:
Solid entry-level smartphone
There's a bit of misunderstanding about the expectations of the Intercept; let me clear things up: this is an *entry*-level Android device. I've seen comparisons of the Intercept to the EVO, Galaxy S, and other high-end Android phones, but it's apples to oranges. This phone is great for first-time smartphone buyers or for users who don't intend to do 3D gaming, HD video playback/recording, or other resource-intensive applications. I like the fact that Samsung didn't modify the UI into ...

for the Nokia 6030:
Simple
I bought this T-Mobile branded phone for $30 new and tested it in the San Francisco Bay area on T-Mobile's network. I found many minor annoyances with the layout and feel of this phone, but since it works good in the areas that count (RF, call quality, battery life), I gave it a rating of 4 out of 5. Pros: -Long battery life (the Phone Scoop specs underestimate it) -Good RF in areas of poor coverage -Amazing call quality -Simple to use -FM radio with ...

for the Motorola V195 / V197:
Phenomenal non-multimedia phone
I purchased the V195 with T-Mobile for $19.99 with a 2-year contract. It was an amazing deal for what I got. I'm a new customer with T-Mobile. According to the coverage maps on their website, I wouldn't be able to make calls indoors at my home and even calls outdoors would have poor call quality. Either the coverage maps heavily underestimate reception, or this phone has amazing RF. Judging from other reviews and from the phone's power output specifications, ...

for the Samsung PM-A840:
Good entry-level camera phone
I upgraded to this phone with Sprint after having the Samsung SPH-N400 for approximately 3 years. So far I am completely satisfied with the upgrade. Pros: *Dropped calls are rare (located in Los Angeles) *Internal antenna *Sleek design *Intuitive user interface *Informative external LCD *Good basic camera *Loud speakerphone Cons: *Could be a bit slimmer *Phone design makes it impossible to hold it between shoulder and cheek when you don't have a hands-free earpiece available I'm on the most basic Sprint plan without PCS Vision, so I have ...

for the Samsung SPH-N400:
Great phone with a few quirks
The N400 was my first mobile phone. I bought it with Sprint 3 years ago and it's still in perfect working condition even though it's been thoroughly dropped and abused. I'll start off with the cons. The main reason I upgraded to a newer phone from the N400 was the ability to use SMS messaging without having to pay for Sprint PCS Vision. It sucks to have to go on the mobile web just to view a received text ...
