Who needs a "smart" phone?
Afraid I have to put the C905a down for a while after about a year of daily use. Pancake keyboard is a fatal flaw. Sure hope I can refurbish it because I am a real fan of S/E phones and this one in particular is my favorite in spite of the keyboard. Not being able to reliably push the "4" or the "#" is bad news. I don't think this keyboard is as wretched as ...
Stands the test of time
W810i is a phenomenal phone. Will base my rating as if it was current because I do have some negative points that reflect its vintage. Even considering those, it is still an all time favorite and is in use daily as it has been for most of 2.5 years. Mine came from Cingular and was promptly debranded to get rid of asinine characteristics (apps like mobi radio) and to bring back Activity key and the awesome ...
Very nice surprise
Once I was a Nokia fan but they have done nothing but disappoint me for quite some time with the likes of 2610 and 2366. Not terribly fond of N75 either. This phone is surprisingly pleasant. Plenty loud (2366 wasn't) and decent display (my 2610s weren't). I think the silver looks ugly. AT&T sent me a black one and I am impressed. Humble opinion is this a far better phone than the current ...
Mighty fine!
Have to admit I almost didn't try one of these because the reviews/ratings here were not exactly stellar. My candidate user cannot hear worth beans anymore so I was really doubtful the 6061 would cut the mustard. Should also mention that candidate user is over 60. She doesn't care for fancy; just wants a phone to work and she is fussy. She put up with a 5165 and suffered thru an Abominovox 8500. When we moved ...
Abominovox 8500
This is the most wretched pile of dung I have ever owned. Not only is it horrible, I paid an outrageous price for it, something like $150 several years ago. I would trade it for a $20 Nokia and be far ahead. Bad points: * Absolutely unusable keypad. Extremely touchy trying to use the middle button in the 5 way, and you really need to use that. * Volume not usable. Single control for ringtone volume ...
Not all 6030b phones are equal!
First I condemn Nokia for stupidity in their model designations. What are suffixes a, b, i, etc. for anyway? You have to look closer because my samples from Cingular (RM-75) and T-mobile (RM-225) are very different but both are called 6030b. The RM-75 was unlocked fast with a code calculator but the RM-225 took dispensation from T-mobile. Besides the distinct different branding with menu items, T-mobile chose to deny connectivity to Java apps. Thus an app ...
Disappointing
Well I did not keep it long enough to run the battery down. This applies to Cingular 6126. Positive: 1. Outstanding screens 2. Voice recognition 3. Flip design 4. Memory card change without removing battery Negative: 1. Inadequate volume in earpiece. 2. Inadequate volume in wired headset. 3. Different power than traditional Nokia. 4. No IR in Cingular version. 5. No MicroSD card supplied. Not a huge deal. 6. Less than stellar RF performance. 7. CA-42 cable does not ...
Not bad but very basic
Quite a stark difference from the W810i! Feels reasonably sturdy though. Positive: * Decent sound. * Reasonable display. * Nice keyboard; discrete keys. * Respectable RF performance. Negative: * No java. * Lame browser * No IR, blue tooth, USB, etc. * Staggered keyboard layout. * Separate phone book handling for email, limit 10. * No phone book facility for multiple numbers per name. Conclusion: If you want a nice basic phone and little or no email or data this ...
Not a Moto fan
The only Moto I have ever liked is my StarTac and it went out of service years ago when Cingular (that is correct) took down 800 mHz CDMA in the local market. Great phone, so I though I would try the L2. The L2 went back; I want my money more than I want the L2. This phone is thin but a bit large. Won't fit in any case I have. If the display ...
Not so good.
This is the fanciest phone I use. I really like Nokia but this phone frustrates me. The keyboard is OK even though it looks goofy. It seems to drain battery like a CDMA phone in low/no signal place, even with the silly lights turned off. The RF capability leaves much to be desired. Side-by-side on same service in wal-mart, a 3620 gets lots of bars while this phone has barely enough to register. I have ...
3620 deserves its rating
I got one of these a while back based on ratings here. Symbian is too "heavy" for my taste but my college kid loves it. Yes in 2006 it is a bit large, heavy, and clunky, the camera is definitely low end by today's standards and the memory is not so wonderful. With a little discretion though you can have a lot of Symbian app fun. It is, after all, a PDA too. The most outstanding ...
Not "as advertised"
The C207 is reasonably usable. The size is handy. The display is bright and the colors saturated. Interface not too bad. Keys have a good feel. Comes loaded with Cingular links to stuff you can buy. Not up to Nokia standards. Not 3100, not 6200, not even 3595. Here is the rub. Right on the box it says, "JAVA support for application and game downloads" OK fine. The Java is ...
Not bad, really
In the waning days of TDMA, I find this to be one of the better models available. Got mine for a couple of bucks at the Salvation Army thrift store. Easy to find an OEM face plate so it looks like new. Pros: Nice recessed display - scratch resistant. Does good job with text/email. IR port. Great for adding phone book. Easy to find OEM face plate. Standard headset works. Nice discrete buttons. Cons: Rather heavy for its size as of 2006.
