for the Sanyo Katana II:Solid, reliable
My Katana II provided me with two and a half years of good voice and text service. I tried using the web browser for 1 month, but that was painful. Pros: Voice quality. Battery. Held a charge well and never needed to be replaced. Construction. Felt solid with a good sized hinge. Cons: Lag in text input. If I didn't need Internet, I would anticipate sticking with my Katana II for the foreseeable future.

for the Sanyo SCP-6000:I miss you, SCP 6000!
It was so beautiful, stick-thin with an actual metal face. Nice call quality too! But the times changed. Now it is expected that you should not only be able to receive but also send text messages. And now, a battery should not die after only 2 years and cost more than a new phone to replace. I rated it at 3.0, but it was a 5.0 back 10 years ago, and 0.5 today.

for the HTC EVO 4G:It begs you to drain its battery
Can't keep my eyes, ears, and hands off this phone, or my mind off its battery. Pros: Speech recognition. Works for every text input field. You can dictate text-messages, emails, and search queries! Intuitive. I have yet to read a single word of instruction. Voice call quality. As good as I've ever used. Fast 3G network. The network speed has never left me wanting. Cons: Battery. Really bad. Fortunately, new HTC batteries are surprisingly cheap, $24. Buy a few. ...
