in the Article: Motorola Talks Jelly Bean Updates for Its U.S. Devices forum

These pending updates were when the Google acquisition was still in the works but it seems like Motorola kept its autonomy and is continuing business as usual. It seems to me like Google may be trying to follow Apple's business model with its Motorola line while appealing to the developers community with its Nexus line.

ditto that......with such a wonderful track record whatever they say in regards to upgrading is worthless. Keeping a death grip on bootloaders is even more promising.

The last paragraph is what i hope will happen. I left att for their take it or leave it attitude and didn't bother looking into verizon just because they're just as ridiculously overpriced. 80 billion is a lot and it shows how much of a sure bet they're banking on this acquisition. Asian consumers put up with a lot less crap then we Americans do and that's why they define true quality of service. I know their network will ...

It was nice to see Sprint acheive what they did with Dan Hesse but I have mixed feelings about it being owned by a foreign corporation. Nothing more than wishing it could've stayed American owned.

Re: Why not just put a fork into Motorola
Oct 8, 2012, 1:09 PM
in the Article: Motorola Puts a Fork in Webtop and the Lapdock forum

I still have my Atrix 4G and I do thoroughly enjoy it. I really anticipated the ICS upgrade to keep this phone for a little while longer or at least to get the drivers so the developer community could bring full functionality to ICS based ROMs. My gripe is that it's one thing to say there's no update, end of conversation right? However, to say the update is definitely coming and all of a sudden cancel it with no ...

"...The authors of the report said that both companies were reluctant to hand over key documents about their relationships with the Chinese government. The authors also said they received "credible allegations" that suggested Huawei is guilty of bribery, corruption, discriminatory behavior, and other malfeasance." Although this sounds like big business in general, quite frankly I'd rather be spied on by my own country rather than communist China. Why and how we got to this is another pile of steaming political ...

I was pretty ticked when they led everyone on with the 'imminent' ICS update for the Atrix 4G only to cancel it all if a sudden last week..... Seriously WTF? I will never buy another Motorola product that's for sure.

in the Article: T-Mobile Selling Off Rights to 7,200 Cell Towers forum

I think it has to do with the maintenance and upkeep for the towers. All of the carriers employ contractors to do the tower work for them so it probably is less of a headache. Many big corporations also setup smaller companies for products/services that they would otherwise outsource to a third party, this happens all the time in heavy construction as far as I've seen. This would be kind of shady if this was all done under the ...

Because T-mobile is simply way too late to the game by bringing this only now. Why launch a device that already has its successor launching in a few short months? I'm sure there was a significant import tariff that may also have priced HTC a little higher as well. If you've ever tried 'real' PTT you would realize how powerful and efficient it truly is. You can be on the job hammering away and receive verbal communication at the same time and if you need to respond all you need is to hit the PTT button. No. They just do what they say they're going to do. At&t is always touting tower upgrades and infrastructure improvements but they rarely deliver anything noticeable to our area. At least T-Mobile's high speed network delivers when there is coverage. I may have to just cough up the extra dough and join Verizon who deployed LTE here many months ago

Everyone is under the impression that the wireless carriers intentionally lose money by selling phones at a loss to customers in the hopes of making their money back in their service charges in the months to come. Anyone in retail knows that msrp is bs. No retailer buys anything near the msrp and in most cases sells you their 'discounted' price. You really think car dealers buy their cars from manufacturers at the window msrp? If you bought your last car at the stickered msrp and thought you got a deal you sir just made the dealer a lot of money. This upgrade price increase is riding on the coat tails of their justified data throttling ...

They are much more consumer oriented in the way they unlocked bootloaders and now at least giving a timeline in their planned ICS roll out. Motorola understandably has their reasons but can they really be justified in light of what HTC is doing?

I too got this message with 500 mb left. Of course i got flamed by all the att fanboys as a liar sooooo here we are. The whole top 5% is a pile of crap people. Anyone on their network is fair game. It seems like at&t it's really stepping up their game in monitoring data usage and trying to catch those tethering without their plan.
