I was thinking the same thing, that this would never pass approval by the govt. under this administration. On the other hand congress did just have a big conservative turnover that would make this more likely to get the ok.

The G2 easily gets a full day on a charge with moderate to heavy use, and with light use could almost make it 2 days.

Re: Firefox vs. Chrome

in the Article: Review: Motorola Atrix 4G forum

Google has always been (and still is) one of Mozilla's largest supporters, so it is not totally odd for Google to support Motorola using Firefox for the dock. I think it is most likely due to ARM processor support, which Chrome lacks. This shows up in the early reviews of the Xoom tablet, the browser looks a lot like Chrome but is still based on the Android browser code and therefore displays Android optimized sites instead of desktop versions. ...

Firefox vs. Chrome
Feb 26, 2011, 9:42 AM
in the Article: Review: Motorola Atrix 4G forum

Firefox can be tweaked to run better than chrome on slower/ older hardware and on slower connections through the about:config options. It may also have been easier to get Firefox running on ARM architecture since Mozilla is working on a mobile Firefox version, that is supposed to be based on the desktop Firefox code.

in the Article: 4G Networks Tested: WiMAX vs. HSPA+ forum

HSPA+ is not maxed out at 21 Mbps, there have been test networks in Europe (Sweden if I remember correctly) of HSPA+ networks running at 42 Mbps. The real advantage of 4G technologies is not really the speed, it is the more efficient usage of bandwidth and the capability to support IP based calling. This allows more efficient usage of the limited spectrum.

The overall size is barely bigger than an iPhone. There is very little extra space around the screen like on most other touchscreen phones. The HD2 is almost completely screen.

Having a clock in the top bar in all screens is available in the settings(settings > all settings > clock and alarm > more > display clock in title bar in all aplications), and you can rearange the order of the Sense tabs (settings > personalize > home screen tabs). Opera 10 fixes the issues with scrolling and cliking on links not registering, but gives up pinch to zoom. Opera refits text to the screen better if you use double ...

Limited internal memory would not be a such a big deal if you could run applications from the memory card. Even the iPhone only has 128mb ram, but it has tons of storage for applications.

I may be wrong but I believe that the iPhone 3GS is running a Cortex A8 processor at 600MHZ, While the 3G was an ARM11. The difference between the droid and the rest of the android handsets out now should be very similar to the difference.

The "allows Google" disclosure says nothing about Palm collecting your data
Aug 14, 2009, 9:05 AM
in the Article: Palm Issues Statement Over Palm Pre Privacy Concerns forum

The disclosure about allowing google to collect location data says nothing about Palm collecting it and there is no mention of the collecting data about your installed applications or usage. I don't think the problem is Palm collecting this data, The problem is the LACK of disclosure to the user. Trying to hide behind the Google location data disclosure is shady at best, It says nothing about PALM collecting user data. It also says nothing about the other ...

Plooky has a decent point, and just because you are paranoid does not mean that they are not out to get you. :) The problem with all of this research is that we are constantly exposed to all sorts of radiation (TV,Radio) at much higher levels. We don't see people worried about TV and Radio radiation levels. Cell phone radiation is very low power compared to these other sources. This makes it very difficult to show correlation and even ...

Agreed, When I got my Dash I had a Q. The Dash was noticeably faster than the Q even though the Q has a faster processor (312 mhz if i remember correctly) If the Shadow had a qwerty keyboard I would consider it even with the same processor. I will still go check one out to see what the menu overlay is like in person. I don't see the today screen in the video and that is a big ...

For a regular phone 200 mhz is plenty, but it is slow on a smartphone. Windows mobile is not very fast and coupling it with a slow processor does not help. Other new smartphones are coming out with processors around 400 mhz (Blackjack 2, Q9h, etc), faster processors are better (along with more ram) especially if you are running mulitple programs. If you are browsing the web using wifi the connection can fun faster than the processor can ...

It seems like the verizon will bid for this spectrum if the open access requirement is removed. If the open access requirement stays, then don't bid and just file suit to force the FCC to allow them access to the spectrum. Verizon seems to have been waiting on this spectrum, part of the reason they did not bid on AWS.

It seems that all 3 companies have filed on different grounds, Verizon challenging the open access requirement, ATT challenging the public service requirement, and Frontline wanting cheaper access for small business. It is looking like more and more of the major players are not happy with the auction setup. The FCC knows that this was a highly anticipated auction for the cell companies due to the building penetration of this frequency. That is why they tried to put all ...

I had a Sprint Q before i switched to a Dash.( 2 dealer lines), while i miss the EVDO data speed of the Q, overall operation of the Dash is faster. It lags less than the Q, i compared the two side to side, opening the same apps, before switching. In my experience the better Q is Verizon's. I have no experience with Alltel they dont service my area. The Q had some issues when it first came out with Verizon, but they seem to me pretty much handled now. The Sprint Q has connection issues with the data network. it periodically will not get a data connection, although voice was never a problem. Your phone records are not protected, the U.S Supreme Court has already ruled that records held by a third party (Verizon and VZW, banks, cable companies, etc) are not protected under the fourth amendment. I am at work now so cant look up the case law. This is nothing new, all it takes to get your phone records is an administrative subpoena, which does not require the probable cause necessary to support a search warrant. Your records are NOT ...

Thank you Lynchburg, That is exactly what I was looking for. If there is a fix like that for current phones then I'm not too worried about future ones. I am trying to find a phone that I can use for everything. I would like to stay with sprint. I need good call quality, email and web access, and a good planner/ calender that I can sync to my laptop. Yes this is a sprint issue. I sell the verizon version and have not seen this issue. Verizon had their issuses with the q when it first came out but seem to have gotten it figured out. Hopefully sprint will get it fixed also. I want a phone that i can use as a phone first, organizer second, and email/ web third. If this issue got fixed I would get another Q.

I sell both verizon and sprint, and have had both the sprint and verizon versions of the razr, krazr, and the Q in store. Across the board all three phones have MANY more issues on the sprint side. I sold 13 verizon razrs last week and not one has come back with an issue. In contrast I sold 7 sprint razrs and 5 have been exchanged. The complaints are battery life (much worse than verizon version) and software issues ...
