Not Much Of An Upgrade For The Compact

All the other sites are reporting that the compact only has 2 gigs of ram. I wish it did have 4. Frankly, except for the camera having more megapixels and a modest upgrade in the CPU the Z5 Compact is the same as the Z3 Compact.

Is alive and well. Orwell's prediction came true 30 years late. If you think the 1st amendment is alive and well try saying certain things in a cell phone conversation and watch how fact men in black show up on your doorstep to cart you away to a gulag in Eastern Europe where you'll never see the light of day.

You need AT&T for that feature. It's always been a feature with AT&T. Verizon is late to the party and don't have the feature fully working yet.

The specs are from two years ago. Plus the Fire OS is terrible - bloated and sluggish. Amazon makes you install apps from their store so app selection is pitiful. But Amazon is deaf to feedback. Customers have been complaining about the deficiencies in the Kindle Fire HDX since it came out - issues such as horrible screen with purple and yellow on it, poor battery life, random reboots, touch not working and OS hanging. ...

Good luck finding coverage with that network. Take a road trip and mark how many spots have no coverage or if they do are serviced by painfully slow, outdated EDGE. I travel a lot and know first hand how inadequate their network is. You say you work for AT&T, well guess what? You're going to find yourself roaming on their network a lot. And they make you roam on EDGE. Enjoy the slow ...

Mar 22, 2013, 9:19 AM
in the Article: The Phone You're Paying For But Not Getting forum

There is a hidden cost to going with T-Mobile and that is their lack of coverage. Where you find coverage it's going to be mostly outdated, slow EDGE. Their 4G is as scarce as two dollar bills. And they have no 3G, even though they advertise they do. But they also advertise and show maps of all this great 4G coverage that simply doesn't exist. Bottom, line you do get what you pay for. You want ...

You must have found their 4G in a major city and then drove around in circles. I travel all over and the only places I find 4G is in large cities and even then the 4G footprint never covers the extent of the city limits or the metro area. Once out of the city you are on Edge, not 3G, but slow painful Edge. Where I live I have to drive two and a half hours ...

in the Article: T-Mobile Says Its 1900MHz UMTS Covers 142M People forum

They are the biggest liars in the industry. First they advertise they have the biggest 4G network, which they don't. They have the smallest. They show maps with 4G coverage in areas that only have 2G EDGE. They also claim to have 250 million people covered with HSPA + 4G. The country only has 300 million people, so they're saying they have 83% of the population covered? That's just plain bullsh!t. I travel a ...

in the Article: Review: HTC One for Sprint forum

There has been a trend toward bigger phones for the past couple of years. But what has caused every phone maker to jump into the shoebox phone size arena is putting an LTE radio in the phones. The LTE chipset is huge and requires a big heatsink for cooling. Supposedly the next generation of chips will be much smaller and run cooler, but it seems to me once the trend has begun it's only going to ...

I'm in NC too and have experienced the same thing you have. Once I leave my city I don't come across another 4G area for a two hour drive. It's only painfully slow EDGE. When I'm in the far western part of the state I roam on AT&T and it's on their EDGE network. In all the T-Mobile EDGE areas I travel to AT&T has those same ares covered with 4G. T-Mobile's maps are ...

HSPA+ is officially 4G. There are three different technologies that are recognized as 4G by the International Telecommunications Standards Committee and HSPA+ is one of them. But good luck finding it. T-Mobile only has 4G in major metro areas and then the footprint seems to be rather small. They're mostly and Edge network as the description at Phonescoop says. T-Mobile's 4G is every bit as much 4G as Verizon's LTE says the International Cellular Standards Committee. That it is not real 4G is just propaganda put out by the Verizon Stormtroopers, which is ironic since Verizon never had real 3G, but only backhauled 2G.

Would never work. AT&T uses GSM, the world standard in cellular technology, whereas USCC uses CDMA, an American standard, that's totally incompatible. They are compatible with Verizon on a couple of bandwiths, but overall not even compatible with them enough to consider a merger. The other big CDMA carrier, Sprint, runs only one bandwith, 1900 MHZ PCS so they're out of the running. USCC's best option for a buyout is to invest in building out ...

Apple has stolen so much from Android, Windows Mobile and Palm and yet they have the audacity to file complaints and sue their competitors claiming they stole from Apple. What a f***ing joke. Re: iOS vs. WebOS vs. Android
Feb 24, 2011, 11:17 AM
in the Apple iPhone 4 (CDMA) forum

The Android OS and its apps are about like Shareware - glitchy and unsophisticated. WebOS is a great operating system, but it has suffered from the crappy phones it was on and lack of serious apps. If those two factors change it could become a major player. IOS and Apple dominate because they build quality hardware and offer a broad array of useful well developed apps.

Because Android blows. The OS is a hog and it's slow. The apps are nowhere near as sophisticated as those on the iPhone. Case in point. I have a half dozen must have apps on my iPhone that I use everyday for business and personally. There is only one similar app made for Android and it has nowhere near the features the iPhone version has. Android apps remind me of shareware. Lastly, ...

I was a customer of Verizon Worthless for over a decade and left them for AT&T before the iphone was released. As far as coverage goes I'd call it a toss up. I've found AT&T has coverage in places where Verizon didn't have any and vice versa. I switched from Verizon Worthles to Cingular (now AT&T) two years ago and all I've wondered is what took me so long. I'll never go back. Everything from coverage, call quality and customer service at AT&T is superior to VW. Not to mention the phones are much, much better. They're thinner, better designed and have way greater battery life. Verizon butchers their phones with their crappy custom user interface that keeps you from syncing ...

AT&T, which took full control of Cingular when it bought BellSouth last month, saw its shares rise $1.24, or 3.5 percent, to $36.60 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange. Sorry, but you have your facts wrong. Cingular has been adding customers and growing their customer base over the last year. Verizon has been the one losing customers, which is why Cingular has been increasing the distance between the number 1 and spot. As for the "tarnished" name several different studies contradict that statement. While all cell phone providers could do a better job at customer service, T Mobile usually leads in customer service followed ...

Re: CDMA-VS-GSM Technology Advantages?
Jan 24, 2007, 10:21 AM
in the Techs & Trends forum

There is no difference in the two technologies regarding one being better on the environment than the other just as neither is tehnologically superior to the other. Both technologies accomplish the same thing, but just go about it differently. Most CDMA and GSM phones operate at 1900 MHZ on the microwave frequency, others at 800 MHZ. Although their at the same frequency, how they use that bandwith differs. CDMA pings towers to establish connectivity. ...

Fat Verizon Phones

Why are all the phones from Verizon so dam fat? It's not because of a bigger battery, they always have much less talk time than GSM phones. This phone like the standard RZR is longer, wider and fatter. What gives VZ?

Re: largest coverage?
Jan 19, 2007, 9:10 AM
in the Rumor Mill forum

Verizon has great coverage but their coverage map is b.s. They show blanket coverage where there are no cell phone towers from any company. They need to be truthful and admit where they're lacking coverage. It's bad enough that a good bit of their coverage is patched together from other carriers.
