It's just a money grab. They are making HUGE markups even on the so called 'abusers'. Data and text are marked up thousands of %. They could easily improve tower capacity with the profits but instead they would rather pretend these people are costing them money so they can charge them extra and make even more profit.

We pay up to $70 for the Droid 2 assuming it's fully working and in good condition. Compare that to other companies such as Flipswap ($36.72), CEXChange ($52.00), Gazelle ($28.00) If interested my e-mail is garrett@tradeincellular.com

I definitely agree. If it goes through it's going to stifle competition. I run a cell phone trade in company and bad news for me (and my customers) as well. Hope the gov will see through this and keep them from merging.

One problem... Android lags even with a good processor. It's a lot smoother than the first Android phones that came out but still not as smooth as the iPhone. The only thing that has come out so far that operates as smoothly and instantly like iOS is the new Windows 7 OS...

It's not surprising that all the carriers have a bad score. Every time you turn around people are complaining about their cell phone service regardless of the carrier. After being out of the customer service industry for a while I've come to the conclusion a lot of the crap people complain about is their own fault (people break their phones, then they get pissed when the carrier won't replace it for free... or they sign up for stupid 3rd party ...

in the Article: Sprint to Risk $20 Billion on Apple iPhone forum

Actually I am WELL aware of the fact that Sprint has many roaming agreements (the most in the industry) That is not necessarily a BAD thing... funny how people think that's always a bad thing to roam. Roaming is included in most plans nowadays anyway so it doesn't even matter. Verizon also roams off Sprint so what's your point? The roaming agreement doesn't just go one way... Roaming is necessary for carriers to cover everyone... putting up a cell tower isn't easy. ...

Hate to burst your bubble but we are talking about CURRENTLY available plans. Many people have their own 'special' deal they worked with whatever carrier they are with. That's a moot point here. I use to give people discount plans all the time when I worked for Sprint... On AT&T just for 2 iPhone's even on the LOWEST plan (700 minutes...), with unlimited family text and only 2 GB of data per phone, and unlimited to any mobile, it comes ...

AT&T has terrible satisfaction ratings
Oct 3, 2011, 3:11 PM
in the Article: Sprint to Risk $20 Billion on Apple iPhone forum

AT&T has terrible satisfaction ratings according to consumer reports. Sprint and Verizon were rated as the most satisfying carriers, followed by T-Mobile. Combine this with the fact that Sprint has the cheapest plans except for T-Mobile and the iPhone is a huge deal since AT&T has had terrible satisfaction rates, but secured the iPhone, it is reasonable to conclude that was a huge part of their recent growth. Having tried EVERY carrier there is to try, Sprint does get better ...

Uhh... AT&T is way more expensive. I am on AT&T only because they have the iPhone 4 and I don't like Verizon. As soon as Sprint get's an iPhone I will be switching back. Even the new Windows 7 Phones are almost enough to draw me back to Sprint. I am not sure what kind of CS issues you are having but unless you are being an idiot to the reps it shouldn't be hard to get fixed. I worked there ...

Look and see what the cheapest current individual plan offering is before making a decision. If you know you are not going to cancel in the 2 yrs and you are looking for a way to sort of 'finance' the phone, this actually isn't always really a 'bad' deal, but it's not a 'good' deal either. Chances are he's not doing you any favors here. You are probably better off buying the phone outright or with whatever discount you currently are ...

Don't do it! He is probably going to switch it to a family plan with a base cost that is only $10 more than your individual plan. There are a few possibilities here: 1) You have an old plan that is more expensive than current individual plan offerings 2) He sees you are on a plan that has too many minutes, and is planning to switch you to a plan with less minutes (still maybe enough to cover your usage) but two lines, ...

Data is data. 1GB = 1GB however you slice it. Doesn't matter if it's used on the phone or if it's used on the computer. I have an iPhone 4 and I got the 2gb data plan. Typically I go over 2gb and have to pay the extra $10 for an additional 1gb of data. AT&T makes the same amount of money on this additional 1gb charge regardless if I use it on my phone or laptop. This is about AT&T ...

Sorry, but "overages" are nothing more than the carriers being greedy. They are obviously designed to extract profits from people How can anyone justify the fact that two customers can both talk the same amount of minutes, or use the same amount of texts, data, etc. yet one customer pays a flat rate and the other pays hundreds of dollars more? Not everyone is going to understand how phone plans work or the details of when they are going over, especially ...

I understand people should be responsible with their money and understand what they are signing up for... On the other hand, I don't see how anyone can justify overages. Here is an example. Customer A and B both are on Verizon Wireless individual plans. Cust A has a $69.99 plan for Unlimited Talking. He ends up using 1500 minutes throughout the month, and his bill will be $69.99 + tax. Cust B has a $39.99 plan for 450 minutes. He ends up using ...

I understand the point about consumer responsibility. It IS the consumers fault in the end when they don't select the correct plan. I am not disputing that. BUT there is also no denying carriers have set phone plans up with overages simply to bilk people out of extra money, and lots of it. The guy that is on a 450 min plan and uses 1000 min does not cost the carriers any more money than the guy that uses 1000 ...

It's true you will always have the idiots, but most will shut up when you tell them what their bill would've been if it wasn't for the higher plan. Plus, it's just a switch for the current bill. Once the new month starts they would go back to their regular plan... and if they go over again same thing would happen. Actually you could just put everyone on the cheapest plan with this method and it would adjust every month based ...

If a customer is on say... a 450 min plan and they go over, they automatically get switched up to the next rate plan for that month only. If they go over their text messages or data they get switched to the according plan for that month only. Huge overages are not justified when there are other customers using the same cell carrier, with identical amounts of usage, and they pay $89.99 because they are on the right plan... but ...

As someone who can actually personally flash a Blackberry I will chime in here... You will be able to use the Web Browser and Picture Mail. Any other apps will not work. At least with the flash that I know how to do, Opera Mini is not necessary.

I hope they stay on their own. If another company takes over there is a good likelihood it won't be as open of a network. For example... Metro phones must be flashed through Houdini from what I understand, which is not free... where as if you know how to flash a phone to Cricket you can do it for free.

That's not true at all... as long as the ESN is not already in Cricket's system then there shouldn't be any problem unless you are in a tri-band coverage area. You can't use flashed phones in tri-band areas.
