It's not clear to me in this story, what this means to ME... What about my GPS? Is this technology going to be applied to LightSquared's equipment so that it will not interfere with ANY other GPS equipment, or is it going to be provided or installed on major GPS equipment/groups/entities in order to overcome the interference from LightSquared? Anyone have any clarification?

It's a felony to disrupt communications services. Last I checked, BART doesn't have the authority to do that. Imagine if everyone who didn't want people to have a voice just hampered the nation's telecommunications systems. It's really not complicated or hard to see how this actually IS a big deal.

Now some current AT&T customers will get sold in markets where the T-Mobile coverage is better (divest) and I can't help but wonder how many of them will be customers that have been passed around before, only to be reacquired and then perhaps passed off again. that's another point to my arguement... they still need a (micro usb) for data unless they are also going to demand that all syncing be done via bluetooth. Of course, then you'll have to buy a BT dongle if you don't have a current computer. I am a little annoyed by this claim that Verizon is either requesting or requiring that new phones support conductive charging... 1. Let's not forget that for all of our lives that most phones have utilized proprietary chargers requiring a new purchase every time you change phones. Thank goodness for Palm, Blackberry, HTC & Motorola for pretty much running with mini USB for MANY years until the uniform agreement that micro USB would be the standard format that many phones ...

No, that isn't a typo - why change the standard keypad and the location of the 0, # and * buttons on the keypad? I love my feature-rich phone, but miss the the days of simplicity and a standard keypad. If you are going to put the standard buttons on a phone, why change decades worth of functionality? I predict a flop.

Just the comment about too many features clearly demonstrates that you are clueless about technology and other people's expectations and should probably be using a prepaid phone instead of voicing your opinion about plans and features. Yeah, well-written, but the slightest comparison to other providers would have taught you that your arguments about costs are unfounded and incorrect.

My first experiments with multitasking have been a complete fail. All I want to do (initially) is continue to listen to Pandora while texting or reading email and stuff. Pandora closes when switching to other apps. Upon checking back on the Apple update page, multitasking is available with apps designed to work with OS 4. Apparently this means that nothing we have so far is going to be able to multitask until they all develop upgrades. This proved to be ...

Ditto here. No issues at all (update related) and none of my contacts were gone, have been texting all night and my screensaver and lock are unchanged. Although I am just now noticing the disclaimer "multitasking with apps designed to work with ios4" That explains why Pandora goes quiet when trying to multitask. Exactly what apps might have been designed to work with ios4 at this point? Oh yes, that's right, none other than the iPod function - the one ...

I am years out of the cellular/wireless industry, but I can't help but notice and comment on your reference to Sprint being Verizon's little brother who uses the same technology... My Moto charger worked, as does my generic Verizon-branded car charger. I am also using my Moto home charger instead of the one that came with the phone. The trick is that a lot of chargers simply don't provide enough power, as most non-PDA phones don't require it. This is also the case with most mini-USB Motorola products, as they require the full 5v to charge, which is generally provided from USB ports/chargers. Return that over-priced charger from Sprint and buy ...

Mar 31, 2009, 9:08 AM

Sometimes I wish I logged on here more often... If you are still using your Q9 (actually any phone) here is how this works: Since the beginning use of CDMA digital technology, you gained and lost something about your phone... The more signal strength your phone has, the less power it uses to operate. So instead of analog phones all using the same power all the time, everyone gained extended use with this new technology. However, when your phone is searching for signal ...

You wouldn't want a hybrid of this phone - the Moto Renegade is a so-called hybrid and it sucks. The phone is CDMA and the PTT uses the web via some version of VOIP - so the phone is always trying to work and the battery is SUCKED DRY. I've been with Sprint for years, have more than one line, and while the Renegade hybrid is a cool workhorse, the PTT is a JOKE which renders the phone worthless. Even ...

Can't tell you anything about ATT plans, but you need to sign up for "Phone as Modem" with Sprint in order to connect with your phone. It used to be that with Vision services, if you could figure out how to connect with your phone then you were OK and you could sign on, even anonymously. Not so anymore. If you try to connect with any phone with Sprint and you DON'T have the PAM plan, it won't connect. I have ...

still checking for replies??? -Here's how digital cell phone signals work: The more signal you have the less power the phone requires to operate. Also, as your phone sits in standby, the same is true... more signal=less battery drain. Less signal=sucks your battery dry faster than you can blink. There is nothing you can do. This is how it works. Your only option (if you need your phone ready for your next call) is to turn it off when you know ...

Maybe you have no idea what the i500 was... I have used a PDA phone for four years. The i500 was a Palm phone, like the Treo, only it was thin, touchscreen and clamshell. And I am well versed with the Motorola Q (until I sold it) because although it is nice and thin, it is still too "blocky" to be comfortable in my pocket. Tired of waiting for another clamshell PDA. Sprint made Samsung ditch the i500 generation (the i550 would have been great) and even Treo can't seem to get their brains about a thin, lightweight phone. Naturally, Sprint doesn't get the Pearl because that would make too much sense and/or other providers are too busy commanding exclusivity, which IMHO should be outlawed by the FCC (who seems to put their hands on everything else). Can't understand why people are excited about another ...
