better battery solution
Nov 19, 2009, 11:17 PM
in the Motorola Droid forum

The first couple of days I had my Droid (which I love, btw) I would run through the battery by 4:00-5:00 pm. This is texting quite a bit and browsing some with using Google Navigation, but still... that's not long at all!!! So, I decided to turn the GPS off when I'm not going to use Google Navigation, and WOW. It's 10:16, I've had it off the charger since 8:00 am this morning, and still reporting ...

how-to turn off 3G for MUCH improved battery
Jul 27, 2008, 12:55 AM
in the Samsung BlackJack II SGH-i617 forum

Ok...so at least we have an option to turn off the 3G here! It works WONDERS for your battery, and unless you watch the streaming video a lot, you don't need 3G anyway. The internet is not much slower, nor is the email. Here's what to do: *#1546792# This will bring up the admin settings. From here, go to option 3 (Network & Call Settings), then option 5 (Network Mode). Select "GSM" instead of "AUTO" and ...

Does anyone know if the new at&t branded 8700c is any different from the Cingular branded version? Updated themes like the newer BlackBerry's?

in the HTC TyTN / 8525 / JasJam (Hermes) forum

I've heard you can download programs to shut off connections/programs after a few minutes of idle use. I've also heard of a program where you can make the phone keypad bigger and easier to use. Can anyone help me with the links to these programs and how I install/use them on my 8525? I just got the phone and am new to it. Thanks!

This works on the LG's, but not the SYNC. I tried. Thanks for taking the time to post this though. I love the AT&T SYNC! Just got mine today. The only thing I wish I could do is put it in 2G mode all of the time to save some battery and have more talk time. If anyone can figure out how to do this, PLEASE let me know! There has to ...

in the Nokia 6555 forum

Is there a way to put the phone in 2G mode only like on the LG's? That would greatly increase battery life I believe. I really like the phone except for the poor battery life. If anyone has any idea how this could be done or where I could find how to do this, please let me know! Thanks!

Re: Opera mini 4
Jun 20, 2007, 11:28 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

Nope. Just download it and it will install seperately from the other one. So essentially you will have two Opera Mini's on your phone. It will not overwrite or delete any info from your previous model. You'll have to set new bookmarks/settings/etc on the new one. It's pretty sweet though with TONS of options!

I downloaded it from the site, but when I get to the end of the user-license agreement to accept or exit, the only option I'm given when I push the button is to "exit". Is there a way around this so I can start using Opera Mini 4 beta?

in the BlackBerry Curve 8300 forum

I've had the Sony in the past, and in good lighting, yes, it's a great camera for a phone. The Curve does every bit as well believe it or not, has VERY sharp photos and the flash is almost as good as a stand-alone digital camera, much more powerful than even the Sony's. I think the Curve has the best camera on a phone I've seen on any phone on any carrier. It's really a good ...

Doesn't work for me. I can create a new profile just fine, but even with that, the calendar reminders/alarms do not work. They work just fine on the tasks and such, but the alarms on the calendar do not work. This has happened on two Curves now. Also, when I try to set the backlight timer to stay on for 1 minute, it times out at 30 seconds regardless every time.

Well, not all of them. This keyboard is much easier to type on. The previous one worked just fine, but I had to push the buttons so firmly for them to go. As for the shutting on and off again (even during a call on the first one), I haven't had that problem with this one...yet. I still have the calendar problem as well as the backlight problem. It's quite frustrating actually! The ...

Please post if you've had these problems with your Curve as well! First of all, other than these minor glitches, this phone is the closest to perfect that AT&T has come out with yet! Here's the problem(s).... First of all, my first Curve had a VERY stiff keyboard and would turn itself off every once in a while...so I got a different one. Not a problem with the second one. HOWEVER, on BOTH devices, the calendar ...

So is this a smartphone? Does it have email capabilities (not mobile email)? Can it run on the BlackBerry software for email like the Nokia E62? Can anyone shed some light on this? I currently have the BlackBerry Pearl, and am looking to upgrade to this phone if I can still use my BlackBerry connect unlimited data plan with this phone.

I'm a little ticked...I like the Pearl a lot, but I have dust behind the screen and I don't know how to get it out. You can see it very plainly on a bright day or when the screen is black! It sucks! Also, is there any way to disable the backlight dimming? I'd like it to stay bright the entire time. Thanks for any help in advance!

I have my phone set to Central Time Zone (-6) being in KY and under the date & time settings, it shows at the bottom my network time and date as being correct. Re: external display?
Mar 14, 2007, 1:36 PM

Unfortunately there is not. I think the fact that it is dimmer contributes to the longer battery life. It does what an external display needs to do though really. The addition of the date being on there is a big plus as well!

also plays .wma files!!!!!
Mar 14, 2007, 12:15 PM
in the Motorola RAZR V3xx forum

I accidentally put .wma (Windows Media Audio) files on my Motorola V3xx by mistake, forgetting to convert the audio file format to mp3's, and I tried to play them anyway, and guess what...they work!!! Not only do they work, they're clearer, crisper, and louder than the mp3 format and do not distort in the slightest bit! I HIGHLY recommend you put .wma files! Hope this helps!

So I finally got my SanDisk 1gb memory card to work, meaning the phone will recognize it now, and I put some mp3's on my phone from my computer. Some of them it will play, and some of them it will not recognize and will not play. Anyone else having this problem? This phone is too good for this to happen. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Is there a way to set it to stay on 2G only like on the LG CU500? I can't find it on the menu anywhere. Also, does anyone know why the external screen has such low lighting? Other than that, the best Moto has come out with yet! GREAT phone!

My phone won't automatically change time zone's until I turn the phone off and turn it back on....what's the reason for this? Other phones I've had didn't have to power down then power back on for this to happen. I have the setting set to "automatic" under auto time zone. Anyone else have this problem? I travel a lot...thanks.

Am I doing something wrong here? I have a bluetooth computer and it takes files and stuff like that just fine from my 810i. However, when I turn on the remote control feature and go to media player, it doens't work with the computer when I'm playing DVD's and what not. Is there something I need to do? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Re: WTF my music player wont work at all!
Jan 4, 2007, 5:56 PM

You must make sure that Windows Media is set to rip your music to mp3 format and not the wma format. The 810i will only play mp3's. Kind of bites, but that's how you have to do it. I had to go through this myself. If you need help, email me at jonesbm@wku.edu.

Does anyone else have this problem? I've had my 6131 for about a week now and the phone itself is GREAT. The battery life has gotten better with each charge, and I use my phone for everything! For example, today, it's 9:30 p.m. here right now and I've had it on since 7:30 this morning, and it still has a full charge! HOWEVER, when I go to tones and check them out, they are quite ...

Ok, so when I go to "external screen" choices, it doesn't give me that option, only for the internal scree. Also, when I tried to use Opera Mini, it said that I needed a packet data or something like that, or that I'm not subscribed, yet I have the top Media Works package and always have. This worked fine on my Sony w810i. Let me know if there's something else I need to do. And ...

I didn't have those options. When I go to menu/settings/tones, then I have incoming call alert, which gives me the options of ringing/ascending/ring once/beep once/off, I have it on ringing. Then there's to select the ringing tone and volume, which I have all the way up. So yours still does the ascending ring tone as well as the message alert? There's no way to change it???? Let me know.
