Rant is still great except for the auto screen lock
Jan 16, 2009, 11:22 PM
in the Samsung Rant M540 forum

After having my Rant for the last several month I must say I am still impressed every time I use it or even pick the phone up. Excellent quality all around. The problem I have is the auto screen lock that forces you to hit * then Back to get out of it once it auto engages. Anybody find a work around for this, a way to extend time, or at least a way to change to a single key unlock? Other ...

Samsung_luhv why the complaints?
Nov 3, 2008, 1:54 PM
in the Samsung Rant M540 forum

You give the Rant a crappy review because it does not compare to your Centro. Why would you not do your research before buying the Rant if it is not up to par with the Centro? For someone like me who is used to having an old Sanyo flip the Rant is an excellent upgrade. The Rant is a 4.5 out of 5 at least but because of your low useless review it is now below 4. Go take your Centro and get ...

Sub $10 Katana Hard Rubber Covers on Ebay Worth It?
Oct 5, 2008, 3:32 PM
in the Sanyo Katana Eclipse forum

Hi I just ordered a Katana Eclipse and noticed there are a lot of people on Ebay selling a 2 piece cover that is made of a hard plastic/rubber substance for any where from $7 to $10 bucks. Anybody using these covers? Do they snap on or slip over? Do they fit well and still allow the phone to close? Thanks

Re: What is a MRC Service Charge ??
Oct 4, 2008, 10:08 PM
in the Sprint forum

Great news! Called Sprint to verify what this fee was and it was gone. The only fee was tax so instead of a final cost of $130 after $50 rebeat and 2 year agreement is a end cost of $1.11 for the Katana Eclipse to run on my SERO plan.

I already have the old SERO plan at $30 a month. This is some fee tacked onto the price of the new phone. Think I will give a local Sprint store a call to see if they know the story on this fee.

What is a MRC Service Charge ??

I renewed for another 2 years with Sprint and bought a new cell phone from a customer rep via phone. I got a $150 credit plus $50 rebate which should have brought price of phone down to $99. I was charged $30 on top of this for a MRC Service charge. What the hell is that for? Thanks

Thanks for all the input everybody! I am thinking a Trio would be over kill for me. For must haves I think my main phone needs are the basics. Good reception, strong signal, bluetooth, and descent battery life. Somebody on the CNET cell site said Sanyo phones work best with Sprint. Never thought of getting a Sanyo. Katana worthy? I will do my homework to decide in the long run but reviews for users like you are what help with my decision. The ...

I will whine all I want. Everybody gets to give their opinion on this forum, be it a whine, something positive, whatever. You boys miss the point completely. No Tmobile did not have to offer me anything but they did and it is garbage. Do I think it is wrong for some new customer to be offered a better phone then me? Yes I do. Totally disagree. Other than the fact they will not bend the rules to get me a phone they are giving to the newbees I have no complaints in 3 years. Nobody is perfect. Try calling Cingular just for a question and you feel like someone wants to give it to you while holding your ankles.

How dare you send me a gift of a free Samsung t209 cell phone because I have been a loyal customer for almost 3 years! If I sign up for 2 years? What kind of piece of crap gift / trade off is that? Look at the ratings and reviews that phone gets! It is GARBAGE. Why don't you impress me and at least offer a Motorola PEBL? You have no problem giving it to new customers on your website! And that is why I do not want anything fancy just that basic phone so I can talk and Tmobile can make their money. If I cannot make the phone last 2 years then it is me who must flip the bill for a needed phone. But if 2 years go by and I am ready to resign up then my reward is the new phone. I am not going to walk away from Tmobile if I have to pay something, ...

Well its alot when I am only using 300 minutes a month. I know Tmobile does not get it all but my total bill is just over $50. When you add those numbers up that is a big chunk of change. I'm just saying that if someone it getting that much money from you a year then they should provide the piece of equipment making them that cash.

Yes I have run across that problem already. Website has deals then you call and they do not have any deals. I think I will try the route of going right to a Tmobile dealer to see what they can do. Just want a high review basic phone. Don't care about the camera or mp3. I want reception and battery life.

Re: Here is a Suggestion to Add to Tmobile Want List
Nov 10, 2006, 12:08 AM

I have no reception problems with Tmobile so with me money is the issue. In a 10 year period these carriers are making anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 for each one of us carrying a cell phone. The only ones that have made out were those lucky enough to have gotten in early. A friend of mine is paying $25 a month for 500 rollover minutes with Cingular because he was with the carrier before Cingular. So I better get ...

Do Unlocked Phones Work Well?
Nov 9, 2006, 6:36 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I do not see a phone Tmobile has that I like. The one I prefer is the Sony-Ericson W300. Of course that is a Cingular phone. If I get this phone unlocked will it work as well as a true provider carrier phone?

I turned this into quite the topic. Thanks for the input
Nov 9, 2006, 6:34 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

From what I have heard the only way to real benefit would be if I made alot of in network phone calls. Most calls are a mix of Tmobile and Verizon friends. On top of this most of my calls are made on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday when I get free calls anyway. So it looks like I will bite the bullet and just buy the phone I want to go with my existing plan. Thanks

My coverage is fine. The waiving the activation fee would be made up very quickly since The profit margin is so great on the monthly bills. Amazing how a second party cell phone seller can give excellent deal but the source cannot. I will stick with Tmobile. thanks

Any way to make a deal with Cingular
Nov 9, 2006, 5:29 PM
in the AT&T forum

So looks like the LetsTalk guy is shady. Tell me this - If I wanted to jump from Tmobile to Cingular would Cingular wave the activation fee and give me 300 texts for $2.99? Going month to month with Tmoble and currently have 3 day weekends with 600 minutes a month for $39.99. Also have 300 txt messages for $2.99. I know I get rollover minutes but still am losing 150 minutes a month to make up. Thanks
