I was on a Cingular plan that was really similar - 2500 min, unlimited text, unlimited internet, unlimited MMS, no contract, for $18 a month a few years ago when I was working with Best Buy. They all do it. My understanding is that all of the carriers provide employee plans, but they make so much profit off of the average Joe, that they consider these employee plans an acceptable loss of profit. It's all about maintaining employee ...

i'm sure as more info becomes available, we'll get it. perhaps there were no "details and specs" as you request. it's new technology, so we don't know any pros or cons. although the pros seem relatively obvious (easier to see in sunlight, battery life improvements, etc. etc. etc.) i'm sure we'll find out if there are any cons as testing is done on the thing. this seems like a really preliminary story just alerting readers ...

maybe AT&T is coming out with it's own response to the T-Mobile @Home? it would follow a semi-logical step for true home-domination... home phone, data, wireless, and now wifi-based phone?

are you using isync? check this website out http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isy nc/devices.html that gives you all the phones compatable with iSync. I don't see the W385 on there, so i'm guessing it's not compatable with iSync. perhaps they'll come out with an update and add more phones to that list soon!

agreed, but i'm sort of surprised that some mid-major cities still don't have it (i.e. Pittsburgh). we have 3G in cleveland, and that's all that matters to me really - but still, kinda surprising. AT&T has to keep coming up with new innovative ideas to keep ahead of Verizon/Sprint/T-Mobile/etc. Announcements like this will satisfy some of those customers in areas that are already have 3G. Plus it will show the stock holders that "we're moving forward, ...

:D thanks for the info - video calling is pretty fun - i'm using a Sony Ericsson K800i I picked up in Asia, and it has the feature built in. Obviously won't work in the US, but i did try it out while over there... pretty slick stuff. thanks again for the info!

Video Calling on 6267

in the Article: Nokia Announces 3 New Mid-Level Handsets forum

The 6267 has dual cameras - one for video calling. Cool feature but doesn't the carrier have to support video calling for this feature to be worthwhile? Last time I heard, AT&T and T-Mobile (although this phone seems earmarked for AT&T) were not planning on going the video calling route. Has something changed their minds? I hope so b/c video calling would definitely help set AT&T apart from their competition.

Does anyone out there have information as to what the pricing will be on the data plans that will be available for the iPhone? Will they be the same/similar to the data plans for other AT&T smartphones? Also, I'm guessing that the voice plans will be the same. all valid points. i would be pressed to reconsider. mind you i'm just a guy who checks out this site when i'm taking breaks from grading papers or writing my thesis, so i'm not aware of every test etc. The point of my original (like 2-3 days ago) post was not whether or not the network was the "best"; rather, it's the "communist" user interface, and the limitation of choice by verizon. regardless of if ...

i would respond to that by saying that if you would rather be with a carrier that offers you a choice based on your personal preferences, then AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint are your choices. My opinion is that Verizon ends up stifling innovations by requiring that all their phones have the same User Interface. While that may be good for some; such as those who may have a difficult time with changing technology etc., it is not good ...

I don't think T-Mobile should come out with anymore "Smart" phones until they roll out HSDPA. here in cleveland they're getting blown out of the water by AT&T and Verizon and Sprint in the fight for businesses and business users (the people who end up buying phones like this one) because their network is amazingly slow compared to the competition. the question halfway-intelligent users will ask is why would i buy this phone from T-mobile when i ...

i'm sure there's viable research out there that proves this - but nokia is probably the most popular manufacturer in the world. with the % of market share that they have, it is actually feasible. plus, they could also be counting homes in africa and asia that use very little power in their calculation of 85,000 homes. In some areas over there, they rely on electricity far less than we do here.

don't get me wrong. they sell the high end stuff in the developing countries, to those who can afford it of course. last winter i was there and i bought a Sony Ericsson K800i for about $75 under what it would cost me here. but they still have a market and a demand for phones that aren't as high end as the K800i or the Nokia N73 (my 2nd choice at the time) or some of ...

they're headed to areas of the world that don't need/can't afford the high end phones that we all crave. i'll give you an example - in india (my family is from india so i've seen this first hand), middle class people, upper-mid class, and upper class people have servants in their house. because of the massive number of people in the country, labor is pretty cheap, so it's pretty common for people to have servants. and i didn't notice anyone here complaining about it. we have a blackberry enterprise server here, and i would have been the first to hear about people not getting their emails! (we have a very whiny bunch of users) so maybe it was isolated to people who used RIM's service directly?

i think verizon said that their customers weren't affected... that leaves alltel, cingular/at&t, t-mobile, and sprint as the carriers left. i wouldn't be surprised if some of the other ones weren't affected either, and if it was isolated to say, one or two carriers.

Depending on what part of Akron you are in, it's really not that bad down there. I'm up in Cleveland, where it's gotten a whole heck of a lot better over the last 3 years. Give Sanyo a try, they usually do a heck of a lot better... not sure about the 8400 in particular, but my old 8200 did much better than my new Treo does... Good luck, and remember you have a 30 day return policy...

I have a Nokia 6682 from Cingular and I had it unlocked before I went overseas in December. When I got it unlocked, some new options popped up. When I got overseas, I realized that I could now choose my carrier with my Cingular SIM in there. I had never seen that option before I unlocked it. It was pretty cool actually, I could log onto whichever network I wanted (Orange or T-Mobile or others). ...
