That's why I posted the Q on the torch board...but I can see how my question could have been misread.

Not Upgradable to QNX ?
Sep 30, 2011, 1:35 PM
in the BlackBerry Torch 9850 forum

Have a storm 2 now and like the BB OS but longing for a better web experience. Verizon store suggested it could be upgraded to QNX but web search looks like that needs two processors. I cabn't be stuck with another lame duck for 2 years and will probably be switching to Android or IPhone 5. Just wanted to comment.

thanks

email can be buggy

in the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 forum

especially for work, BB is great due to real-time and functionality but I've had two emails deleted on my S2 (using BIS). example: - email hits BB yesterday while home computer sleep mode; - reply to email; - get home and computer downloads email; - all normal but... - next day - the email is missing from my device and I need to refer to it while traveling. My reply is still in the in-box but the original email is truncated and useless. THAT is ...

# 3 key sticking - on a touchscreen dialpad ?!
Jan 26, 2010, 10:13 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 forum

sorta funny but annoying - The # 3 key on the dialpad "sticks" - it squeals a few seconds and then releases...does this both in speaker and non-speaker mode. No other key does this. I do use "3" alot (but same for 2 and 1). Just started this. Q) Software of hardware issue? Q) Only solution is to get another device (again)? I was hoping BB could just fix it somehow. Thanks again to the room for the help.

Settled, thanks

Owe it to Verizon to advise that we quickly arrived at very fair resolution. Very happy with the way they handled it. Thank you.

CLNR only option given late return?

I like verizon, spend several thousand a year via one-bill, recently did new 2 and feel now like I'm getting boxed in, might be all my fault, if so tell me. Thanks. Device (S2) has issues, two calls to tech support and two store visits (bought in store), most of these during 30 day trial. During 30 day, rep suggested I try Droids, but I said wanted to stick with BB and hoped issues would work out (like magic I ...

Why is phone resetting?
Jan 2, 2010, 12:31 PM
in the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 forum

(I wanted to restart this thread.) Device continues to reset itself. I've caught it doing this twice in one day. It is annoying as it is disabled during this time. Tech support had me pull the battery and re-activate the network (*228). The device continues to reset. I do have auto on/off enabled - to 8am to 8 pm. The device resets mid-day. Defective device? network connectivity issue? The resets occur at different geographical locations. Advice welcome. I am within 30 day trial. ...

Re: Storm2 keeps on shutting off?!? & VZW BB Tech Support

Having same (?) issue - screen goes black, all buttons disabled and a little clock/radar screen appears and then a bar showing progress then a statement that it is verifying security software (or to that effect) then normal. But, it occurred twice in the same afternoon. Not sure if it's defective. I might call VZW tech support which has a blackberry desk which is EXCELLENT - they even did a warm hand-off to RIM support on an old BB ...

Re: Screen Issues - certain dead spots?

in the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 forum

I've had that infrequently - it seems related to where the 4 pico-whatevers are located. Sometimes I need to click on a button on a webpage that just seems to be harder for the BB to register. Easier if I zoom in. But I've pressed the screen along the bottom somewhere (I forgot where) and it didn't click/register. Assume it's a minor design flaw and have to consider overall satisfaction with the phone.

Early Upgrade: Doesn't Data Plan Count?
Jan 17, 2009, 6:42 PM
in the Verizon forum

I've just passed a year on my 2 year contract and would like to trade my pearl to try the storm. I'll agree to another 2 years but would like the $199 price. On My Verizon on-line, they need a min $50 calling plan to get the early upgrade and so it shows me not qualified as I have only the $40 plan (450 minutes). But, I've also had the $30 BIS data plan. I’d like consideration for paying ...

Stopped Synching - MS Outlook 03 Calendar
Jan 6, 2008, 10:31 PM
in the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 forum

Verizon and I confirmed both device and desktop running latest sw edition. Checked all synch settings. Entered a dummy appt on both device and laptop and neither synched. Have it set to dual-synch and confirm changes - worked like a charm now doesn't. V sent me too RIM help but hung-up after waiting 2 hours. V tried themselves today and also hung up after 2 hours. Going to try again business day to contact RIM support. Am still within ...

Go back to the store and ask for the Blackberry Internet service plan - "unlimited email and unlimited web- that is $29.99. It sounds like they sold you the broadband which you don't need unless you're using your laptop ,nd the phone as the modem ("tethering"). Also, go back and demand your $50 mail in rebate receipt.

Media Player ?

Hello everyone. I am enjoying this phone, thanks to your advice and ratings. I receive a daily email from the NY Times with select headlines. There was an audio-slide show I clicked to run thinking it would be a great opportunity to try the high-speed network. However, it couldn't run as it was Adobe Flash (or something like that) and not compatible. I searched the forum and found a reference to a $30 3rd party app but are there ...

Could not get "The Quick brown fox jumped..." on this thing without multiple errors and frustrations. The letters don't seem to be where I expect them. Versus, took me no 1 minute to type on a qwerty 8820. Too bad because the store rep showed me a non-working model and it was super-slick. (Tried suretype on another model.) Should I just give up and go qwerty? I obviously like the smaller size, won't be typing that much. How has ...

Happens with ATT too

See the advice below about becoming dormant - I just missed a VM notice on a Nokia 6620 and it's happened before. Spoke with another blue today who had same issue, both of us over the last few years. Rare but happens. We're both blaming the network and/or the phone but neither is true. It's just the technology.

No way to undelete voicemail message while still in voicemail
Sep 27, 2007, 9:59 PM
in the AT&T forum

Hey, I stupidly delete a very important msg I wanted to listen to later by pressing "7" which I thought was save but actually is delete. ("9" is save). On other voicemail systems, there's some menu method to go back but not on ATT. A rep tried to help but it's basically the way their VM software is programmed.. Repeat 10 times - "9" is save, duh. Any ideas welcome.

Can you help me with my equipment refund? (7 weeks)

Hello, I returned the Curve and the leather case with Customer Service approval within a few days. (I established a new line when all I wanted was an upgrade. Was technically unable to allow me to transfer SIM card since I was old blue.) Film was still on the display, etc. Sent FedX and confirmed received on June 18. Still no credit back to my charge card. Associate says takes up to 8 weeks, they confirmed with ...

Battery Life ?
Oct 17, 2006, 5:16 PM
in the BlackBerry 8700 forum

4 months old - stays "off" and holstered in my briefcase and use it only for an hour or so every few weeks. I give it a full charge (until all battery bars fill up), use it for an hour (about 15 minutes of data exchange), turn off for a few days, use it again for an hour, put it away, go to use it about 10 days later and it's dead. Won't even turn on. Need to hook-up ...
