At least with the M8 users can get rid of all the carrier and Samsung crap. The S4 and Note 3 have bootloader locked and users are stuck. I'm in for HTC

Their crappy network works half the time where I live, most of the time I'm lucky to get 3G. They are doing the same thing to customers that use their DSL internet service. I should have kept the internet service I had before at least they told you up front they were going to hose you. AT&T is just trying to get customers to give up their unlimited data package and then charge whatever they want.

Why I think you are correct it looks just like my 9000 without the touch screen. One of the other sites posted that the OS is the same OS 4.6, if thats correct RIM is moving in the wrong direction.

Yeah when it shows full bars and you drop a call or no reception it will be AT&T fault. Way to pass the buck.

Maybe AT&T is waiting for approval from Apple, just a little humor, I'm on AT&T and waiting for the 9700 in order to retire my sometimes functioning Bold 9000.

Heck AT&T can't even get good service to the people they serve now, they just can't stand the fact that someone else may just have a better product than they have or maybe provide better quality. AT&T has been in bed with Apple so long all they want is "show me the money". Google has come out with a way better product in Android than AT&T could ever dream of. I hope Google does not cave ...

Your right to get the full use of a smart phone one would need a data package, I have and old, beat up blackberry 8310 curve that is used as back up phone for my teenagers. When their phone breaks and pop the sim card out of the broken phone and pop it into the curve. All they get is dial tone and texting sometimes. And if all they can get is voice service until they ...

Well I hope AT&T gets it soon, it may not have 3G but it has to have less problems than the Bold with all its bells and whistles. My two cents.

The price more than likely won't drop. This phone having all the bells and whistles on it AT&T will get every drop of blood they can from customers. I got the 8820 when it first came out for $299.00 with two year contract and $449. without out one. As of today the prices are still the same. It's all about the money for AT&T. I maybe wrong, my two cents.

You are so correct they are different, but I think it makes for interesting top of discussion. I like a phone that if it breaks or whatever I can pop the sim card out and put it into another with no problems. I have two blackberries, if one stops all I do is take the sim card out put it into the old make some changes and go. It's a pain but my choice. iPhone I'm sure ...

Sorry, but without the Data Package for BlackBerry all you have is an expensive cell phone. You may also see "data connection refused" on the screen sometimes. AT&T has a BlackBerry data package for $29.99 (BIS). Hope that helps.

I will have to recheck my plan, but the last time I looked my $99 month family plan with the 29.99 unlimited data package for BlackBerry was better than the family plan with iphone. I was told on the business account I would have to have at least two of these ipods. I will keep my 8700 until the 8820 comes out.

I have the same plan, however it does not offer the text (SMS). I don't know about "IM" since I don't use it. You would have to get SMS seperate. I am not sure if Cingular still offers the unlimited text, but the catch with this is you can only use it for "in network". You can't beat the Blackberry for email, it is great. Hope this helps.

I know I must be missing the big picture, will this unit suffer the same fate as the others due to lack of available memory? Palm's web site shows "128MB/60MB persistent user storage, non-volatile flash". Is this where you're getting your numbers? I am trying to get as much information on this unit before I drop that much money on it. Excuse my ignorance.

That may work on the low end phones, I have had the BlackBerry 8700c replaced four times and they won't go to a different one. Cingular Business Customer Service says " If past the 30 days you have to buy a different phone". They will continue to replace the high end models with a "rebuilt" one for a period of one year. Good Luck.

Does anyone actually have a 680 yet? Does it have the same problems the 650 had? "Re-Boot" on its own.
