Re: Why no "Full Retail" deals?
Dec 2, 2014, 8:22 AM
in the Verizon forum

Thanks for the info, epik. I assumed the retailers had gotten the phones for less than $599. I mean, as you pointed out, why would they sell them at cost? I can buy an S5 from Verizon for that price any time. I was hoping they had a little wiggle room and would drop the price for Black Friday or Cyber Monday. It would generate store traffic, and probably lead to more sales of their highest profit ...

Why no "Full Retail" deals?
Dec 1, 2014, 10:48 AM
in the Verizon forum

I was hoping to find a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal on a Samsung Galaxy S5, but the only ones out there are with a new contract. I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data, so I'm not touching my contract or my upgrade. My next phone will be full retail. All S5's that I can find for Verizon are still $599 or higher. Why no holliday discount? :(

Extended warranty vs Insurance

I know there are several Verizon employees on this forum, so I'm hoping one of you can explain something to me. Here's the situation: My son's phone is an iphone 4S. For whatever reason, it has decided that it will no longer charge (tried everything). I have been paying for the insurance as well as the extended warranty. I just called Verizon to see what we need to do and this is basically what I ...

Jerky video playback
Aug 15, 2012, 8:13 AM
in the Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon) forum

Looking for some help. When I shoot video in 1080p with my GS3 and then play it back (view it on the phone) it's crystal clear, but plays very jerky. It's very irritating. I have a new SanDisk class 10 high-speed micro SD card so I doubt that's the problem. Any ideas?

It has been this way for years. VZW always seems to have fewer offerings than other carriers. It can be a bit frustrating at times when you're ready for a new device and none of their choices are what you want. That, combined with cheaper plans from other carriers, is exactly what lured me away from Verizon about 6 years ago. What I quickly learned was that a cool phone and an inexpensive plan don't mean ...

I just recently debated the same thing. I looked at the Razr Maxx and a few others too. The Maxx is a solid contender, bu after reading and watching reviews on the Samsung GS3 I'm sold. Mine has been pre-ordered and I can't wait. Seems like and awesome device.

Verizon service in Puerto Rico
Jun 26, 2012, 10:06 AM

We will be on vacation in Puerto Rico very soon, and I was curious about VZW service while on the island. I called customer service and they basically said that we can use our phones exactly as if we were home (PR is a U.S. territory). She said there would be no roaming or international charges. The Note is more of a hybrid phone/tablet in my opinion. I honestly can't imagine many people attempt to carry one in a pocket. Maybe some do. Doesn't look comfortable to me.

It was almost exactly two years ago when I was debating this very same question. It was mid summer of 2010 and the Droid X was just about to be released. Compared to pretty-much every other cell phone on the market, it was huge. I (being a specs guy) was very attracted by the numbers on it. There simply wasn't anything else out there that compared to it in terms of features and performance. ...

Oh I know about using wi-fi. I make sure my son does all the time while home or away at college (which is why he's at 1.5GB average). The reason my usage is so high is because I don't have wi-fi available at my office and because I stream Pandora in my car all the time.

I think it all depends on what you get and how you use it. For me personally, it looks like it might be a wash with a few perks. Here's my situation: One Droid X (soon to be a Galaxy S3) One iphone 4s One multimedia phone In two years w/unlimited data I average around 3.5GB per month on the Droid, and my son averages about 1.5GB on his iphone. Thanks for the info. OK...so I currently have my smartphone w/unlimited data, my son's iphone 4S w/2GB, and my wife's multimedia phone all on our family share plan. According to the prices given in your link, that would be $40 X 2 for the smartphones, and $30 for my wife's. That would be $110 plus whatever data plan we choose to share. I'm eligible for my upgrade on June 30th and I just found out that any upgrade after June 8th looses unlimited data. I stopped by my local Verizon store today to see about pre-ordering a Galaxy S3 (which I can't because you can't preorder before your upgrade date, even though the phone wouldn't be here until after my date). The manager told me that although I will loose my unlimited data, I will be able to get a ...

Jun 12, 2012, 10:56 AM

Thanks. I wasn't thinking that one was any better than the other. I'm just wondering why they would make two different versions. If a quad-core wont work on LTE, then why not make all models (including the Global version) with the same dual-core? Especially if there isn't any real difference in performance.

Samsung S3 - Why different specs for US vs Global?
Jun 11, 2012, 8:45 PM

I don't get it. What's the point in Samsung producing the S3 with two different CPUs and two different RAM chips? If I read it correctly, the U.S. (Verizon) version will have a dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM, and the Global version will have a quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Why? I (like many of you) have been watching many of the review videos on youtube for this phone, but I'm wondering how ...

Ship Dates for iPhone 4s

Hi guys. Haven't been here in a while. Anyhow, I bought my son an iPhone 4s from Verizon right before Christmas and , of course, they were sold out. They placed the order and told me it should ship around Jan 4th. Does anyone on here know if those dates are holding out? Thanks in advance.
