Just watched the Phone Scoop Video Tour...
and the reviewer doesn't seem to hold the build quality against the Rival. Are all Video Tours that positive? Maybe I'll give it another look in the VZW store but I'm still hoping for something a little more polished.
Maybe too affordable?
I wouldn't consider myself a rabid fan but I have been with Motorola my entire cellular life. V710, V3m (hacked), and V9m (about to be hacked). I thought I would branch out for my next phone and try a sideways slider with QWERTY. I handled the Rival at the Verizon Store on Tuesday and was a little disappointed. I don't get the color scheme and the buttons seem so un-Motorola and gimmicky. I'm used to something ...
Which EV-DO?
Is EV-DO Rev. 0 mentioned on the Phone Scoop main page under news for this phone release mean the same thing as the EV-DO Rev. A that the author mentions in the review?
Password problem with AOL Mail
To get around that capital letter default for the password field simply type your password but add a leading letter. Then back space and delete that first letter.
Kpassword
Just delete the 'K.'
Um, Verizon phones are crippled and I have Verizon
I love my Verizon service and I love my current phone, the RAZR V3m. That doesn't change the face that when my RAZR V3m came out of the box from the Verizon store it couldn't do anything but find ways to give Verizon more money. I have flashed the phone and enjoy every minute with it in its un-crippled state. There's a simple joy in snapping a pic and walking into CVS and bluetoothing it to the Kodak ...
Re: Cheap plastic?
I'm totally in agreement with you, and glad that I'm not the only person that picked it up and went "what the hell?" For a quick fix, you might be able to glue the back of an iPhone to it. I don't want or need an iPhone, but at least Apple got the brushed metal down pat.
Cheap plastic?
I was able to handle the Black/Pink Venus today as one of my co-workers had just upgraded. There was no denying how handsome the handset was when the slider was closed and viewed from the front. Looking at the sides and back though I couldn't believe how cheap the phone looked. Even if all cell phones are still made mostly with plastic, I can pick up most of them and not immediately feel "cheap." ...
Just wrap yourself in tin foil..
if I remember correctly, people that are worried about their credit cards that have implanted RFID tags (AMEX Blue, Chase Master cards with Blink) can make tin foil sleeves. I'm sure that can work for people.
Referencing VZ Navigator...
The verizonwireless.com/Next website indicates the Pearl will have VZ Navigator, BREW or no BREW, but will only be availbale starting 11/08.
V9m Blue Picture?
Since all the Verizon V9ms are two-tone, any idea what this blue one will look like? Any preview pictures?
Is the Transflash card hot-swappable? Haha (no text)
