Thsi is great news. Maybe we will start seeing some good Linux laptops as well to replace the WinJunk systems.

That's funny! The only people I know that "would only consider Windows" are dinosaurs. Most people would not. Insider Windows as it rides of into the sunset...

Yeap. Even bigger fail for M$ with their crappy OS. M$ really needs to get out of the OS business. Nokia should have gone with Android.

A free buggy whip included with this brand new model. And a roll of 35mm film as well...

Maybe if Nokia would pay everybody $300 to take their WinJunk phones they could actually move some of these. They sure chose unwisely for their OS. Oh well, maybe they'll wake up, dump WinJnk, and put a real OS on their phones...

What's the point of a Winjunk phone? An OS long past its prime and ready for the junkyard... You can't paint rust and have a nice, shiny new car.

I wonder if they might put WebOS on this phone? Ifthey'd get a decent OS on this hardware I would be interested

They chose "unwisely"... So when will ICS be available on this phone?

Re: Update
Jan 15, 2012, 6:52 PM
in the Nokia Lumia 900 forum

MS garbage was definitely a bad move by Nokia. Reminds me of what happened to Palm with the Treo. Good hardware but went the MS route which was their downfall. I suspect Nokia will be out of the smartphone business in a few years...

You are correct, it pretty much stops at those two.

What a waste of good hardware. Well, maybe they will get smart and sell these with Android as well at some point.

Big mistake for them to go with Windows garbage. They're the new Palm and will wind up in the dust bin next to the Treo phones. WebOS could've saved Nokia, but I think they're toast now. Maybe they can merge with RIM...

I know M$ is headed for the dust bin, so everyone has to contribute. Is this Steve Balmer? I'm guessing he's doing whatever he can on e good, ole Titanic...

Re: Well, there goes Skype as we know it...

Looks like a good opportunity for either google or apple to create a product while M$ "hugs" Skype to death. Probably best served as a "gmail" or "iCloud" feature. Oh well, there may be an opportunity to own Skype when they finally split-up M$, can Windoze, etc.

Yeap - middleware like BES is 1990's technology. RIMM will soon get gobbled-up and eventually put to pasture. Good product in their day, but got run over by modern technology.

Yeap, bye bye Skype. Too bad as this service had good potential. Now it will go in the trash bin along with Zune, Bob, etc. Actually, the whole company is headed there as well - M$ is like a huge tree rotten at the core. Soon, timberrrrr.

Re: Layoffs
Oct 13, 2011, 11:53 PM

RIMM has outdated, dead technology - circa mid 1990's. They're being relegated to the dustbin as we speak... Not much need for middleware like BES these days.

Who cares? I don't understand why any manufacturer would put WP on their phone - what a waste of effort. WP was stillborn with very few people actually using the OS. WP is 4th in a 2 horse race...

Merger Maybe - RIMM, Nokia, & MS

Maybe we will see RIMM and Nokia merge then get bought by MS. This would be the best way to clean this all up - kinda like tying 3 bricks together, throw them in the deep end, and see how they swim...

Nokia & Microsoft - Dance Into Oblivion
Feb 13, 2011, 6:18 PM
in the Article: Nokia Gives Up On Symbian and MeeGo, Picks WP7 forum

People seem to have short memories - instant replay of Treo and Windows Mobile. After Palm dumped their OS for WM, in a few years they were gone (bought up...). And this obviously didn't help Microsoft either as WM went into oblivion as well. Instant replay... In a few years MS will probably be out of the phone OS business as well.

Re: WinMo 7 vs. Android 2.2

WinMo was dying before Android came on the scene. Today it is dead - winmo 7,8,9 it doesn't matter as its built on a garbage software platform. As time goes on, its clear that smartphones will be split between the iPhone and various Android phones.

Re: Email Capabilities

If it supports IMAP IDLE it will have push email when working with any server that supports this standard (which is almost all of them). IMAP IDLE is true push email based on standards as opposed to other proprietary methods, such as DirectPush. Does anyone know whether the Android email app supports IDLE?

Mac network access via bluetooth
Mar 15, 2007, 11:47 AM
in the Samsung BlackJack SGH-i607 forum

With the advent of OSX 10.4.9, bluetooth "Network Access Profile" (supporting PAN) is [supposedly] implemented. Has anyone got this working yet? And if so, what is the setup? I have been using dial-up via USB cable, but DUN wasn't supported in the Blackjack and NAP wasn't supported in OSX, so I've been waiting for 10.4.9 to make all of this work properly. Insights anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
