Re: You thought it was gone
I liked that the article pointed out MCI's "Friends and Family" plan. The jingle came to my head after seeing that VZW is using that name.
Re: Web chat question
I always thought those web chat things were bots. Whenever I have one pop up, I'll just ignore it.
Re: So what does this exactly mean?
Although no Michigan markets have yet been listed, I think it would be hilarious if Leap Wireless bought back the market it sold to VZW.
Re: Do you like Sprint?
You'll probably best served by an Everything plan if you intend to use any data, or a Talk/Message plan if you don't use data. Both types of plans are available in 450, 900, or unlimited anytime minutes. Note that since you asked your old provider to cancel, you likely will have to get a new number, since porting requires the old service to be active. (The process cancels your other account, any you would be responsible for ETFs, if ...
Re: ..........
I lol at the V9m reaching EOL before the V3m.
Re: Rev A *is* 3G
EVDO is a 3G standard. Perhaps you meant to say "EVDO Rev A vs. HSUPA." They're both from different families (CDMA2000 and UMTS, respectively), but both are 3G.
Re: New Sprint Nextel Blackberry
Don't forget there's still SouthernLINC and a few other regional iDEN carriers.
Re: Rev A *is* 3G
The Sanyo M1 only has r0, not rev A. Opera or any other app won't have any effect on the air interface.
Re: Will PALM just go away please!
He didn't mention that they sell Palms with Windows Mobile? :o
Re: Not bad.
I finally called and switched from Power Pack 450 with PRO Pack to Everything 450. The customer service rep's English was a little broken but at least understandable. Overall, it really wasn't that bad of a call. I could've had worse, I suppose, but I was patient even though she felt the need to explain all the features which I already knew.
Re: Who "really" has the Largest Coverage?? Why Sprint of Course! Says Yahoo tech.
Did you notice that this entry was written in 2006?
Re: couple ?'s about symbols and what not that pop up on my phone...
The blue triangle means your phone is roaming while the mini-white triangles mean it is in EVDO coverage. There's even a guide on Palm's website.

Re: roaming restrictions back??
When did this policy ever end? /;|
Re: Sprint's nolonger gonna offer the simply everything plan!!!
But then they've always said that the rebates have expiry dates, yet the company still offers them.
Re: Where's T-Mobile's 3G???
CDMA2000 (which includes both 1xRTT and EVDO) is 3G.

If that's all, I'd recommend the Palm Centro for her. Bit of advice, though, if you get a PDA- *SYNC* it. There's little use in getting one if the owner never syncs it with their computer.
That's probably the main reason I didn't pick up the Centro or any smartphone this time around, since I don't have a computer of my own.
Re: Someone fill me in real quick
Voice Command was a service provided by Sprint (you would call into it); it is not the voice recognition feature of your handset.
Re: How
Well heck, I know the Tri-State Tollway is named because of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, but Chicagoland is generally never referred to as a "tri-state area." I did a ZIP code search, and there aren't any Alltel stores within 50 miles of New York or Philadelphia, so that lends more credence to Tristate being NJ-NY-PA in this instance. (FWIW, there's three [one apparently an affiliate] within 50 miles of Cairo, IL.)
Re: How
Usually when I hear "tri-state area" without qualification, I take it to mean NJ-NY-PA.
Re: Any Word on how well the new simply everrything $99 plan is selling
I'd be more interested to see how the Everything 450 and 900 plans are doing, since realistically most people don't need unlimited anytime minutes. I still want to call and get my plan switched to the 450 one, but I've always been reluctant to speak with CSRs.
Re: Check out my new plan retentions gave me!
I think you should clarify that it's you getting the $5/month.
Re: Sanyo Pro Phones Pushed Back for Most Markets
Yes, we all know about the Instinct. You could even discuss it on one of those threads. :P Of course, if some people haven't yet heard, get ready, because Sprint's about to ram it down our throats.
As to the pushback of the PRO series phones, couldn't they just release the phones in markets with the anticipation of Rev. A being deployed? I'm sure there would be a few customers willing to wait for the QChat to become ...
Re: what so special about curve?
That would be the Glyde (u940). Also to note, Verizon might release the LG Dare (VX9700) this month. While it is a full touchscreen, it doesn't have Rev A.
Re: Samsung Instinct
This is literally going to make or break Sprint, as they're planning to spend over $100 million in marketing this puppy. As an aside, it seems more and more that carriers are giving more names to phones to use in place of the model numbers.
Re: New Hybrid Phones
To respond to your original question, in a chat last year on Buzz About Wireless, a Sprint employee (forgot his precise title) revealed that no new hybrids would be released.
Re: Anyone Have Qchat Specs?
Heh, this is the first time I have seen that QChat devices would use the voice number for PTT. Of course, you'd have to include asterisks in order to keep it compatible with iDEN handsets. iDEN users will likely get a surprised look upon hearing a QChat user's DC number.

I had hoped linking to a newspaper site rather than a blog might help that, but here goes...

Owner of T-Mobile may buy Sprint, analysts say
By DAVID HAYES
The Kansas City Star
Sprint Nextel may be a takeover target, according to one of the nation’s largest investment banking firms.
Deutsche Telekom, owner of T-Mobile and the world’s sixth largest phone company, may consider acquiring Overland Park-based Sprint to block a price war in the mobile phone ...
Re: I don't start rumors but....
Well, here's a link from the Kansas City Star. The article is dated March 6, so this rumor's probably been swirling over the last month. Of course, with Sprint valued the way it is, there are takeover rumors all the time, so read into it what you will.

Re: My review
That is my assessment on my Muziq. TeaShark needs some major work, so for now I'll stick with Opera Mini.
Re: Power Vision
Whatever the case, it just seems to me like Sprint should've had a non-smartphone EVDO QWERTY by now. Even Helio has the Ocean, so I don't see what's taken Sprint so long to get a dumb EVDO QWERTY handset, unless the strategy has been to entice general consumers to pick up smart devices. Just for the record, I almost got the Centro, and I would've gotten the Rumor if it had EVDO. But apparently lacking EVDO ...
Re: Power Vision
Unfortunately, it seems that there isn't anything like that in the pipeline currently. But considering the prices of some of the smartphones, they may not be a bad option if having a QWERTY with EVDO is that important.(For example, the Centro is only $99.99 after rebates.)
Re: If you like music, check this URL out
And one of the better things about running it this way than through Sprint TV is that the info will display on the outer screen of my Muziq when it's closed.
Re: Anyone watching Jericho?
I know 24 featured Nextel phones (Bauer carried an i860, IIRC) and later some Sprint phones after the merger. Of course, the company had other promotional tie-ins as well (as in clips and other content exclusively on Sprint's service).
Re: Sirius Radio for FREE even if you don't have a monthly subscription
It might be that phone's software doesn't support that particular URL. When I access it with my Muziq, it displays a directory within the media player.
Re: Sirius Radio for FREE even if you don't have a monthly subscription
Just go to the "Mark this Page" option and replace the info of whatever page you're currently viewing with the info for the Sirius page. It works for me, anyway.

The thing to remember in terms of Alltel rural market coverage is the fact that they have lost the abilty to privide you with coverage from CDMA 850 towers.
Why would they lose CDMA 850 when it was AMPS and D-AMPS which was turned off?
Re: Sprint Simply Everything rocks!
I probably should switch to this plan, since I'm basically paying the same price for a 450 Power Pack plan and PRO data. Simply Everything 450 for me would simply add TV and Radio Premier.
Re: Phones
Sprint is having a clearance on these phones, as I'm sure you'll notice the "while supplies last" blurb on each of them.
Re: Upcoming new boost phones?
The LX260 is the model number for the Rumor, so it looks as though Sprint is bringing that to the prepaid side.
Re: what happened to unlimited for $120.00??
According to Engadget, the offer is still valid for only four markets.
