It certainly does help. Thanks for the indepth reply. They've been on their account long enough to have the original $5 in text package. I don't recall whether they added it then or later however, so I couldn't say for certain. I may go that route as well and save $10... I'll have to double check my numbers. I'll probably go with the Envy touch. I'm not sure if my wife wants a new ...

That would be convenient. I'm going in on Sunday to check out equipment. I'll have funeral service for my simcard that evening.

I'm not too sure. I know they have unlimited in texting. Is there a family plan price for that or is it all individual? I doubt they have any out of network text other than PPU.

Thanks. I'll probably feel them out, but the review was much appreciated. The Envy is $25.00 less which is always a bonus.

Lol, I guess not. I argued a bit, but in the end it wasn't worth it. My wife is rather stubborn. Her sister already has text unlimited with VZW, so no change for her. It's just her parents lines. They pay an extra $20 or I do. Oh well. I'll save a dollar on the activation fee.

I think you missunderstood me. I like AT&T. I would stay, but my wifes family all has VZW. They don't want to pay to text outside of the VZW network, so I'm going to come over an pay more to keep their costs down. In the end, it's what makes the wife happy. I was thinking about getting the Flight with AT&T prior to this shift in plans. I'll have my wife set up the ...

Looks like I'm switching to vzw. At protest mind you. No offense, but I've been an AT&T guy for years. My wife is insisting. Her family doesn't want to pony up for text messaging to other carriers. Either way, I'm switching. I'm looking at the LG Envy Touch, and the LG Chocolate Touch. I'm neither here nor there on a physical key board as apposed to touch. I was curious how you guys ...

It doesn't matter. This is a debate between 3g networks and tech. Not 3g and wifi.

Yeah, 2009 was a bust. Back in March AT&T was promising 3.6 deployment across the map with 7.2mbps in some markets. 2010 was supposed to start have 14.4mbps by summer. Now it's sounding like they may simply skip the 14.4mbps deployment in favor of new tech.

Wifi with a good connection to a cable service is faster than 3G for starters. Second, if you look at Verizon's map, you'll note that it doesn't cover "Everywhere" as you claim. Right here, eight miles from where I'm sitting there is No verizon coverage, however Comcast provides service to the area. That would be a great place to take advantage of wifi while browsing in bed or watching a game.

•AT&T's download rates obliterate the other guys. Seriously, it's not even close. •AT&T's upload rates are the strongest, though T-Mobile and Verizon held pretty close here. •Each carrier's average latency was right around 150ms, which will undoubtedly make online gamers (snipers, in particular) weep. •Sprint and Verizon's WWAN management software was far superior than that of AT&T and T-Mobile, and considering that T-Mobile's app won't run on a Mac yet, it gets yet another strike against it. •As always, your miles (or data ...

Rich, I know this has been mentioned before, but I thought I'd retouch on it. I think a Who's Here feature would be handy for the forums. It would also be nice if you could PM someone labeled as here from a Who's Here bar. Of course, if that were the case then it ...

A customer came in today. He hadn't set up his voicemail in the first 30 days of his account activation. With my carrier it suspends the service if you don't set it up. In order to activate it you have to call in to customer care. He did. Care reset it. They then try to trouble shoot the guys phone. They end up telling him to come to a store and get ...

Call centers...

Call Centers probably get more angry customers simply because of hold times and accessiblity. However, you have a seperation between you and the customer. You can hold them, mute them, or drop them in transfer when you apparently have no idea what you're doing(gotten that more often than I should). So you get the crazier customers but have tools at hand other than a stern look and suggestion they leave your store.

We no longer go through Young America. We used to for our rebates. That didn't work out very well. They had a 65% pay out rate on mailed in rebates. We send a check now. I don't think account credits are fair when you have a $750 deposit.

Called customer care over a missing deposit
Oct 16, 2009, 3:16 PM

So I called care after a customer came in inquiring about the status on a deposit refund. The care rep first didn't bother to properly confirm identity. I then proceed to explain the reason for the call. After repeating myself five times five different ways I then had to go into the entire activation/deposit scenario. Followed by how my carrier returns deposits after a year. You'd think a rep would know this... Once ...

I take customers as long as my door is open. If it's 20 minutes after the hour and I'm finally closing up a last minute sale and someone walks in wanting to activate, I stay. I've worked as much as an hour and a half after closing before because sales kept coming in.
