It has some terrific features (camera, flash, ease of use, etc.), but I don't like the keypad at all, don't like the plasticky chrome look, and it looks to be one of the more slippery handsets around. Around my house that spells doom! Love the specs, but. . .darn. I wanted to like it.

With the evident design and marketing skills Steve Jobs and Apple have, I doubt they're shaking. It's more likely they're saying, "Ah, flattery. We've taken the market in our direction--on we go!" Or something like that.

Picking Fights Over Phones
Jul 23, 2007, 12:18 PM
in the Nokia E90 forum

There are those who strangely enjoy picking fights, "slamming" and offending their way through as many people as they can. It's the thrill of their day. There are so many great phones out there that, really, there are few that are truly "pieces of junk." To frequently refer to phones that many people research, purchase and enjoy as such is this kind of persons' method of bullying. No one actually agrees with him and no one wants him ...

Availability date?

I suppose I could get these phones unlocked, but I've never done that before. If AT&T is going to get either or both of these, I could get it at a discount...and hopefully they won't be crippled. Anyone have a good idea as to when they will be available through AT&T? I'm frustrated with my current phone and situation, and I can make the switch to another carrier at any time. That's why I'm asking so many questions. Thanks for your help.

AT&T does not carry any SE phones right now. Do you think they will pick up either of these phones, or will we have to buy them unlocked? If you think they'll pick them up, when would you estimate? Yes, my current phone and provider are having issues...

Where did you get it and what company is your service provider? Do you mind telling me how much you paid for it? How is the call quality? I'm an unlocked phone newbie (never done it before) and appreciate any advice you might give. I'm very interested in this phone, as well as the W580i. Thanks!

Wow. So articulate. I simply found (and still find) your comments suspect. You posted a comment only two months ago (on May 16) about how you’re sticking “with Nokias for now,” but now you claim to have an LG VX8300. Perhaps you do, but your timeline seems out of whack. If you do own the LG, then I apologize. My comparison comments about the two phones are correct, your scarily furious diatribe notwithstanding. I had the ...

So what gives, Ham Whacker? On this site at the following link - https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/p_forum.php ?fm=m&ff=1008&fi=1167538 - you say you've been trying the L7e and the RIZR Z3 from T-Mobile and that you "want to get the new L72 so bad," but "i will stick with nokias for now!" I thought you had an LG VX8300? Only Verizon has the LG, but at the above link you you say you're sticking with your Nokias. Hmm...Are you throwing out some bull and having fun ...

Having a nice time trolling today, Ham Whacker? While I would like to usher you out of a forum you have no business being in (hint), here's a review you must have missed. Due to a transmission problem with a just-installed cell tower near our home, we could no longer use our much-liked LG VX8300s. In the last two months I have owned two LG VX8300s, and now a Maxx and a KRZR. (See my comparison review - https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/user_review s.php?phone=1024&r=23000#review23000) The reason for the larger hinge on the Maxx is the focus button for the camera found there. It's an outstanding feature. But if you don't want a great camera or a good music player, why get the Maxx in the first place? I think it's the best overall phone offered by ...

Does the torn photo icon appear on ALL of your 1600 X 1200 pictures? It has only appeared on my phone twice, and I have taken perhaps 50 highest resolution pictures. After sending the torn icon photo to my computer via bluetooth, I could not open it--it's completely whacked. Hmm... It's where the battery cover slides onto the back of the phone. If you were to draw a line from the bottom of the phone to the top, it begins to appear at about the halfway point. If you turn it on the side under bright light, you can see into the phone. It simply causes me to worry about moisture and longterm durability. I like the Maxx a lot, but this one thing concerns me.

I make sure that my ringtones are less than 350kb. To begin, I "ctrl click" on the cut down mp3, and choose Get Info. About two thirds of the way down the pop up panel, Name & Extension appears. In that box is where I simply remove the .mp3 designation and type .qcp, and then close. A small window pops up and asks, "Are you sure you want to change the extension from ".mp3" to ...

I save them to the desktop to find them easily. I know that loads of people on these forums are tired of the RAZR and want something equally as startling upon introduction. But "beating a dead horse"? You know how many RAZR iterations Motorola has and is selling? Well over 100 million...and counting. Most of them are pretty good phones, and people buy them because they meet their needs.

Thanks, GuyinLACA. I have had the Maxx for nearly the same amount of time, and like it a lot as well. While getting ringtones to it is a hassle, everything else works on it. My only reservation is the slight gap on the sides of the phone near the top, between the battery cover and the main part. While virtually everything else is solid and works as it should, that gives me pause. But it's not worth exchanging ...

I prefer the look and feel and overall performance of the Maxx Ve. Everything about it is solid, including the reception and transmission. And the camera and flash is outstanding. Plus, the keypad is much easier to use than on the LG, which has no divisions between each number. By the way, I've had 3 LG phones before getting the Maxx, each of which was great. So, I'm not an LG basher. See my review, if you like-- https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/user_review s.php?phone=1024&s=d

Separation in your Maxx Ve frame?

First, I've had this phone for three weeks now and really like it. I will give my review in a couple of days or so. But I have one question for all the Maxx Ve owners: at the top of the phone and on the sides, is there a slight separation between the back cover and the main part of the phone? On mine there is a slight separation through which I can just see into my phone. I ...

Re: LG VX-8700 vs motorazr maxx ve
May 11, 2007, 9:52 AM
in the Motorola RAZR maxx Ve forum

They're both terrific phones. I chose the Maxx because it has external music controls and a flash (the 8700 does not), but the 8700 is an excellent quality phone. Other than those two things, it does everything well. One other difference - to get to the microSD card you have to remove the battery cover on both phones, and on the 8700, you have to also remove the battery itself--not on the Maxx. And both of them are beautiful ...

My wife and i just got two new phones on Verizon. She has a red KRZR, which she likes very much, and I have the Maxx Ve. Frankly, I like the feel of the KRZR best (I have smallish hands), and for simple phone features, it's great. However, I like to play around with a phone much more than she does, so the better camera (2MP, and a flash), better audio features (stereo bluetooth), and bigger and faster ...

It seems that the good folks at Verizon have blocked sending a ringtone to my phone, opening it and saving it. What are the easy ways of doing it for the Maxx Ve? I know all about how to make them and what size limit there is, but is there an easy way to get them on the phone? Suggestions?

I gave my Maxx a full charge last night, played around with it a little (settings, etc.) and turned it off. Full battery showed. Turned it on this morning and made about, oh, an hours worth of calls, maybe an hour and a half, and it's down to one. Yikes! I'm used to an LG 8300, so this is quite the wake up call. Darn...
