Gmail Integration
Oct 2, 2012, 10:53 AM
in the Apple iPhone 5 (CDMA / global) forum

I am considering moving to an iPhone from Android, and I'm wondering how well it works with Gmail. Is it as good as Android? In particular, I love the way that contacts and calendar work with with my Android phone - I update/add a contact or calendar item from my phone, it immediately updates Gmail online, and the same goes for the other way around. Can the iPhone do this as well? Also, are there apps for email like ...

I am trying to decide between these 2 phones myself. I just want a phone that's solid and reliable, and just works with few issues or lags. Call quality and basic ability to function are all I care about. I have the Incredible 1 now so was thinking of sticking with HTC, but not sure.

If you update or add a contact or calendar on the phone, does it update my gmail account and vice versa?

Gmail Integration
Nov 1, 2011, 9:52 AM
in the Apple iPhone 4S forum

I have been an Android user for the past couple of years, and I use Gmail heavily. I love how the contact list and calendar are sync'd between Gmail and my phone and updates to either one update the other immediately. I'm considering switching to the iPhone, and I'm wondering if it's possible for Gmail, calendar, and contacts to integrate the same way? Also, how is the email on the iPhone? I heard all your email accounts have to ...

What new phones are coming out?
Jun 27, 2011, 1:00 PM
in the Verizon forum

I'm just curious if there are any "solid" rumors about what's in the pipes for new phones coming out. I have the original Incredible, and I love it. The size is perfect for me. The only issue is the battery life. I considered upgrading to the Incredible 2, but don't know if it's enough of an upgrade over what I have. I don't have 4G in my area yet but it's supposed to come next year, so I wouldn't ...

Not true, unfortunately. I contacted Verizon about this. They told me that as long as you make no changes to your plan, you keep unlimited data. But as soon as you make any changes, including buying a new phone (which extends your contract), you are forced to go into the tiered plan. I posted my email exchange with Verizon in the comments to the article that Phonescoop posted.

Confirmed by VZW employee - if you upgrade your phone, you lose unlimited data

in the Article: Verizon Confirms Tiered Data Plans to Start in July forum

I received a response from VZW. They even got the dates wrong - I have been a customer since the spring of 2004 and have not changed carriers once during that time. Idiots. Good morning, Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is Trelawn, and I am happy to assist you with your data feature inquiry. When we mention "grandfathered" regarding our data plans, this means you will be able to keep your current price plan and ...

I figured I may as well post their whole reply, as well as my original message to them. I'll do the same when they reply again. Good Morning . Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is Mike, and I understand that you would like to find out if loyal customers like your self would be able to grandfathered their Unlimited Data plans and I will assist you with that inquiry. I know how important it ...

I sent customer service an email about this, telling them exactly how unhappy I am about this. They responded in a pretty detailed email, and one of the comments was: "Keep in mind that the changes that are coming in the near future about Tier data plans will not affect you unless you add a new line to your wireless account. " Now, I don't know if that means that when you upgrade, you won't be forced into ...

Thanks for the great review. I've been considering this phone. I have the Incredible 1. I'm curious to see how the 2 compares to the 1 in terms of battery life. I love my Incredible 1, but the battery life is terrible. That's my one and only gripe with the phone.

I'm surprised to see that there are still no reviews for this phone. I'm really excited to hear more about it and see if it's worth getting. I have the Incredible now, and I love everything about it except the battery life - I'm changing it 3 times per day currently, and yes I use Advanced Task Killer. If the battery on the Incredible 2 is enough of an improvement I may get it. What I like about it ...

I have only ever gotten one-year contracts. I've never had a phone last two years, and these days even if it did, with the way technology is moving, any phone I get will be obsolete in a few months and I'll want a new one in a year anyway. Just because the majority of people sign up for two-year contracts doesn't mean they should eliminate one-year contracts for those of us who do use them. I figured they were ...

That's really interesting, I had no idea it was a known issue. I guess I'm not surprised that Verizon didn't know about it. And the bookmark_thumbs1 folder is exactly where I was seeing most of those files. Thanks for the info!

So I bought this phone off eBay and it was reset to factory defaults when I got it, so I activated it yesterday and have been using it. I plugged it into my computer and started browsing folders on it. Well I found some "explicit" pictures on there. It looks like cache or temp internet files you get from browsing the web. So I am flipping out, wondering what else is on this phone. I was on the phone ...

I really want the Incredible, but I'm not eligible to upgrade until late January - does anyone know if this phone will still be available then? I currently have the Motorola Droid, and while it's a great phone I really like the Incredible better (my husband has it so I get to play with it). I thought I would need the slide out keyboard on the Moto but I never use it - I actually find the on screen ...

I was doing that, but the Verizon guy said it wasn't good to have it plugged in for 8-9 hours at a time. I'm already charging it while I'm at work as well (it starts to die after a few hours).

Low Battery Audible Indicator?
May 6, 2010, 7:35 AM

Is there any way to get the phone to beep or do something audible when the battery is low? There have been a couple of times now when I get up in the morning and my phone is dead. This is even when it was around 50% full before going to bed. If it beeped or something it would wake me up and I could plug it in. I've searched through the phone but haven't found anything - I ...

I am using the Droid with my Windows Live POP 3 account, and I am also using TouchDown for my work Exchange account. I've had my Eris for not quite 5 days now, and I've noticed a lot of quirks/possible bugs. I'm wondering if I may just have a bad unit, or if this is a problem with Eris in general or this version of the OS, or if it's Android in general. Here is what I've found so far: - A couple of days ago, my email accounts just disappeared. I went to check email, and it wanted me to set up ...

Email accounts disappearing?
Mar 23, 2010, 3:45 PM
in the HTC Droid Eris forum

Just a couple of hours ago, I went to look at my email accounts on my phone (I have a Windows Live POP3 account and my work email, which is ActiveSync), and they had randomly disappeared. Whenever I tried to go into email, I got the setup screen because the accounts were just gone. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I did some research and found that it's happened to some Motorola Droid users, but I haven't found anything ...

Hmm...the first quarter is almost over. I wonder when they're planning to release this? I have read about bugs that people have experienced when manually upgrading to the newest version, so I'd like to wait. It would be nice to know what will be fixed with the new version.

Thanks for the info. Do you know when the update should be coming OTA? Is there a list of bug fixes that will be addressed in the next release? I may try the alternate method, although I am a little hesitant. I'd like to know when it will be released before doing this.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing
Mar 23, 2010, 8:39 AM

I just got my Eris on Saturday and have since discovered that there is no Bluetooth voice dialing. I did some research and it sounds like it's an Android OS issue (an email to HTC also confirmed this). Is there any planned upgrade to fix this, or is there a hack to get it working? I'm used to putting my Bluetooth headset on in the car, pushing the button, and having it activating voice dialing so all I have ...

Having more than one email account

I have my personal and work email going to my Blackberry. They have 2 separate folders/icons, which is great, and in my profiles I can set them up differently so that I get the blinking red light when I have new personal email but no reminder when I have new work email - this is also great. However, is there a way to have it so the folder icon only shows new email (with the count of how many ...

Is buying memory necessary?

I just got this phone and I didn't get a memory card at the time. I'm wondering if people find it's a necessity with this phone? The rep at the Verizon store said that it can help your phone run faster by having extra memory. What exactly can be moved from the phone onto the memory card?

I have mine so they're separate, however I still have the "Messages" folder. This means I have 3 folders - email messages, SMS/MMS, and Messages. Is there any way to get rid of the Messages folder? It's annoying because when I get a missed call for example, I can view it in the call log (which is what I normally do), but I also have a message icon and I need to go in the Messages folder to look ...

Personal Email

Can someone explain to me in detail how personal email works with this phone? I have never had a smartphone so this will be my first. Data Plans

I read somewhere that some of the Verizon smartphones will require data plans, like the Blackberries - is this true? If so, how much will they cost? I've never had a smartphone but am considering the Blackberry Curve. I would like to be able to read email and surf the web, but the $30/month requirement seems a little high - my husband currently has the Voyager and has a $15/month data plan. But if the newer smartphones will require ...

Verizon to allow you to use phones from other carriers?

I just read something in Consumer Reports about Verizon allowing you to use phones from other carriers as long as they meet some specifications. Does anyone have any more information about this? I have been eligible for a new phone for a few months but haven't upgraded because I don't like any of Verizon's phones. I think they have a pretty poor selection of phones - it would be great if we could buy a phone elsewhere and use ...
