They might be both "good," but they are also crippled. If someone was wanting the features which have been blocked out, that's a good reason to not buy it. Even if it's the best choice of all the crippled t-mobile phones, maybe people don't have to buy a t-mobile phone at all.

Maybe for the same reason why the FCC is trying to assume the authority to decide what is or isn't "decent." They seem to like having power. The psychology of that will always be open to interpretation, but it's not a new behavior for the FCC.

The news story sounds like someone was goofing around with URLs and found the picture, rather than seeing it listed with a full description in the area intended to be seen by customers.

There is at least one catalyst involved in the fuel cell, but that is on the outgoing end. There may be a catalyst involved in the hydrogen separation, but of course as you noted it's not the thing getting used up. But even if there is a catalyst involved, the news story is stupid. The Phonescoop summary is worded in a dumber way in my opinion, but however it's worded it's stupid to mention a catalyst being used ...

The real power source in the charger reaction is whatever chemical is being used up inside the charger after 3 charges.

This model doesn't work with the Ericsson file manager. Try using Float's Mobile Agent instead. File browsing doesn't work, but the button to send files to the phone will.
