Spot on!!!
Wireless Local Loop
This technology has been around in non-developed countries for years now. Countries in which there was no landline infrastructure when wireless came out.
I worked on a few of these systems internationally. It's gets really fun when you see people riding a bicycle down the street w/ these base stations in a basket attempting to use them like a mobile phone! It caused a lot of headaches 'cause these stations where never made to perform handoffs, just remain stationary.
Motorola?
No longer in the top six now?? Wow.
Download It Directly From Sprint Here
I received throughput of 1.23meg down and dl'd the file in just over a minute from Sprint directly:

yeah i have this service with google voice as well. Google voice never gets it right tho the text messages make no sense usually theyre random words in attempt to read what the voicemail said.
I especially enjoy those text messages. I've once had "Hey, what's up man, where you at?" transcribed to "If you can a modicum (??) please have the baby." Don't even wanna know what the hell a modicum is.

I heard Maemo isn't set up to do MMS. True? Or False?
I know for a fact the N900 does not support mms. Neither does my Q9c. The way I get around it is sending an e-mail to the phone's e-mail address.
In Depth Review?
Any plans for one?
How would they know you were texting prior to the accident?
I know if was guilty I wouldn't volunteer the fact that I was texting right before a crash.

Well said and I agree. I also agree with CellStudent though. Big Red is trying to cut corners here. But you know what, they are painting some damn good pictures. Even if it is reasons which mainly help them, they are at the very least making some form of effort and doing it publicly so that we can all see.
Way to go Big Red and Good Luck. I hope it all pays off in the end.
Ditto. Well said ...

Ditto. I would like to know the coupon code as well.
Just checked it out. No need for a coupon code. Goto dell.com and it's automatically applied when you navigate to the N97. It's only good though 'till the end of the month, 7/31.

I wouldn't bet on that happening at all. Look at the prices of the top tier of Nseries phones. The N96 on average is still $600, and that's been out for some time now. The deal that Amazon was having, $603.99, which I jumped on, and am still patiently waiting for my phone, is the best price I think you're going to see for a lot longer than 2 months based on what I'm seeing with the pricing ...
Re: Nortel Going Down
I know what you mean. When I worked for Motorola they lost a TON of business to Nortel. They were, and most likely still are, the most reliable wireless switches out there.
If you asked me 4 or 5 years ago that Moto would still be around and Nortel wouldn't, I'd never of believed it.

...why do people complain about VZW phones not having wifi? It is not necessary, they have a vast 3g network. Wifi to me seems redundant. In rural Wyo in a town of 3000 you still get evdo rev a. I guess it is cheaper to use wifi hotspots but why search for one when you can get unlimited data for $15 on a dumbphone and $30 on a smartphone.
Because a large majority of us ...

i have verizon at the moment and i was wondering if there is anyway i can egt this phone to work on their network? if not wat company can the phone work for because i also do like sprint. thanks for any information
This phone'll work w/ T-Mobile and AT&T only. There is absolutlely no way you can get it to work on any CDMA carrier (Sprint, Verizon, Alltel). AT&T is really your only viable option as the N97 ...
Re: featured items
Spot on. This phone reminds me more of a tablet PC rather than a...phone.

Does the N97 have two cameras?
And if it does, is video sharing an option on AT&T's network?
I called the Nokia store in DT Chicago and they confirmed that the N97 does have 2 cameras, but AT&T does not support video sharing/calling though.

Yes.

Even if TMO has 3g in Chicago, it doesn't matterm, this phone doesn't cover the TMO AWS band.
I checked into this and you are correct. Thanks man. Looks like AT&T is my only viable option.
Re: New To Nokia & GSM. Looking for advice.
The pre-paid option is a good idea. Not sure if T-mobile has 3G in Chicago yet. But, ultimately it's going to come down to who has better data coverage at home and work.
I could try pre-paid on both carriers, one-at-a-time, until I decide which carrier works best for me.
New To Nokia & GSM. Looking for advice.
As I used to work for Motorola I've had their phones for the past 9 years...w/ Verizon and Sprint. I'm leaving Sprint and unfortunately my unlimited everything for free employee plan goes along w/ it.
So, I'm thinkin' of buying the N97. I told myself I'd never pay $700 for a phone, but I could see myself having the N97 for 2 or 3 years...easy.
Anyone else use the N96? I live in Chicago. Is there really any other option than ...
This looks more like...
...a camera w/ phone features rather than a phone w/ a camera. 8)
Re: Will not happed by 2009.
He got that idea from the article.
"We expect that LTE will actually be in service somewhere here in the U.S. probably this time next year."
I'd actually condiser switching...
...not only from Moto to Nokia, but from my beloved CDMA to GSM for this phone. Simply put, it looks awesome.
Already had the update for 3 mo.'s on Sprint's network and HIGHLY recommend it.
Threaded sms, some great new views, increased stability, and a little bit better battery life. I give the update two thumbs up.
Re: YEAH BABY!!!!!
Put me down for one Pro. I've been waiting for a phone to replace my Q9c.
Re: Keyboard Backlighting???
It is backlit.
Re: No Media Sound!
Fix = Push IN and HOLD the scroll wheel until you see the volume slider come up (a few seconds). Then increase the volume from there.
I experienced the exact same problem: TV, WM, the audible beep when I plug in my charger, even when I powered the phone on and the Sprint logo came up, ALL were slient. Only SMS and phone calls were audible.
Re: Confused...?
I would use it search for something I didn't know about.
For instance, I was behind a van on my way home yesterday and I saw two decals on the back that I didn't know what they meant. They were white decals on the window of what looks like a samurai w/ an axe in its hand. They had a sleek anime-ish look.
I still don't know what that decal represents, I've been seeing it quite often recently, anyhow that ...
Re: Will this work with MSFT Exchange Server
Note, future software updates WILL allow calendar support.
Re: Live Search Rocks!
If anyone has a data plan, and Live Search, they will understand how great of a program this is.
This is hands down the best feature I've ever used on ANY phone, Microsoft got it right w/ that program.
It looks like they've upgraded it for the Instinct, can't wait to try it out.
Re: Can You watch YOUTUBE videos on The SamsungInstinct ?
Concur.
Re: Let the Sprint bashing BEGIN!!!!
No. Hook your Q9c to a Windows PC, then go here:
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/NSS/ update_my_software.asp
The rest is easy. There is an option to back everything up (during the upgrade), I didn't select this option so I don't know how reliable it is, I just wiped it clean. I am VERY impressed w/ 6.1.
Let me know how it goes.
Re: Let the Sprint bashing BEGIN!!!!
Yeah, I've had my Q9c since December, and even w/ the WM6.1 upgrade I did yesterday, I'm still going for the Instinct. Can't wait...
Re: Well good it's about time...

Re: Personally...

Re: Wouldn't that be kind of a disaster?
The spectrum isn't due to be held back to the government until 2009. By then any contract Apple has w/ AT&T will have been satisfied.
Re: Ed Zander
It was actually Galvin who came up the RAZR. Not too sure what Zander's done in his time. /;|
