Re: And Now Mabye HSDPA!!
Nokia doesn't care about CDMA and never will... nor do most of us... GSM all the way!!!!!
Re: Talk time
GSM only gives an extra 25min of talk time according to the specs here... http://www.jig-me.com/motorolalaunch/razr2.ht ml
205min vs 180min...
But if the V9 will be anything like the V3xx (which it should be, since it will also be a P2K05 based phone with the Synergy UI), you can seem edit it to be able manually (and leave it) select the GSM (850/1900) band. I've done this with my V3xx and it works like a charm! 8)

Re: Talk time - vs V8
quite a difference between the RAZR2 V8 which has 500min (8.33hrs) of talk time!
3hrs (180min) of talk time is pretty average with the latest phones (high res screens, and data capabilities - when used - suck a lot of juice). And I guess UMTS (3G) is not as battery friendly.
V8 also has a different battery... BX40... whatever mah it is...

Re: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course it will have the VZ UI... what else were you expecting?
Re: amen...
no fm radio either...
Just proof that GSM is superior...
:)
Just more proof that CDMA banner wavers VZW and Sprint are caving and accepting the fact that they can't beat GSM, so they gotta join 'em... ;)
Re: Verizon UI
I really don't get how people can get excited about any new VZW phone, be it the Maxx VE, or anything else. Since VZW decides to have the SAME stupid UI on all their phones, it really doesn't matter which phone one gets from vzw, they all operate exactly the same since they all have the same UI.... So honestly, why spend $200 on a Maxx VE, when a $25 LG will do the exact same thing and operate ...
Re: Verizon UI
That's exactly why I left vzw and went to cingular/at&t... Couldn't be happier... Right now enjoying my V3xx with it's 3G and all it's Moto UI glory!!! :D
cheers
Re: The wanning days of Palm
true... I have a WinMo device, and it's more hate than love... It's slllloooooowwww... and not that stable (it's not like it crashes or hangs on a daily basis, but still, I wouldn't call it robust)...
I can't wait for more options in the smartphone OS world...
Re: No Cdma Vesrion for Verizon?
vzw had the original Q....
probably after a year of testing, vzw will get cdma version of the Q9 in 2008 :)
vzw is always behind and always will be when it comes to equipment...
Re: How do you like that, Sprint?
notice in that PDF that the U.S. got HSDPA before pretty much everyone else (Dec `05)
Re: Nokia
nope... bye bye cdma and good riddance....
Re: 750 pricing??...
you must be someone that paid 399...
i want to know what people are actually paying from sources other than cingular...
Re: DOWNLOAD LINK FOR ATT ROM
Does this ROM upgrade improve the earpiece volume? I find it on the low side (especially compared with a Blackjack).
What else besides PTT does the ROM do?
thnx!!
earpiece volume...
Any way to improve on the earpiece volume of the 8525? It definitely isn't as loud and clear as the Blackjack.
thnx
750 pricing??...
What have people been paying for the Treo 750's (assuming the std 2 yr contract)...
I'm thinking of maybe getting one (or the HTC 8525)...
thnx!

Re: 750 is better than BJ
I'm wondering if Apple maybe intentionally left 3G out, so as to promote better battery life... /;|
...just a thought...

Re: Treo 750 vs. Samsung BlackJack
Speaking of call quality - how does the 750 call quality compare with that of the Blackjack? I'm trying out the Blackjack right now for 30 days, and find the call quality to be very good. Wondering if the 750 is as good, worse, or better.
thnx
750 vs Blackjack (vs 8525)
I'm trying out a Blackjack right now for 30 days. Actually like it a lot.
But the 750 caught my eye. The only limitations I see on it (besides being twice the price of the BJ) are 240x240 screen (BJ is 320 x 240) and battery life - apparently it's really bad. It lacks a thumbwheel, but it is touchscreen. And it has the PocketPc version of WM5.0, instead of Smartphone edition. And has 850/1900/2100 WCDMA band instead of just ...
Re: Can you get this phone with the following....
that would be may fear - verizon refusing to activate, which I wouldn't put it past them... i'm not sure i'm willing to take the risk...
Re: I got 3G SIM to work in a 6200...
For kicks, I tried my 3G cingular SIM in an old AT&T wireless Nokia 6200 that I had kicking around. As suspected, said the phone was locked or something to that effect.
So I hunted around online for like 5 min and I was able to unlock the 6200 in a matter of a couple minutes:
Use this site, worked like a charm the first try:
http://www.peters1.dk/unlock/nokia/on line.php?sprog=en
After it was unlocked, I popped my 3G cingular SIM into it. Bingo. Worked right away. ...
Re: Alarm clock
You have to use 24h time format for the wakeup alarm. All the other alarsm (Alarm 1 through 9) let's you chose am or pm.
Upcoming models?
Why aren't the upcoming models (like the Q9, MAXX VE), or models available outside the U.S. carriers, like the MAXX V6 or Motofone F3, not listed anywhere?

Moto Q9? When?
When is the Q9 coming? Should we expect it on Cingular? If so, when?
I'm trying out a Blackjack right now, and like it, but might return and hold off if the Q9 is a couple months away...
thnx
Push email... ?
Maybe this isn't a Blackjack specific question, maybe more to do with Windows Mobile 5 for smartphone...
But is it possible to get push email from Hotmail or Yahoo? I know it supports push email from an Exchange server.
thnx!
Battery life on Black Q?
I've heard the Black Q actually has little improvement in firware and what not over the silver Q. Does it also have improved batter life over the silver?
cheers
Re: KRZR K1
that could be an alternative if you like Moto, but don't want a RAZR...
or maybe a SLVR L7...
And apparently Moto Q9 will be coming at some point... just don't know when...
cheers
Re: me too...
Funny thing is, i'm thinking of giving it a shot too! ;-)
Have been with the "red empire" Verizon for about 4 years... Previously with the "blue empire" right before they were sucked up by the orange bandits...
Just tired of Verizon's way of forcefully implementing features (like Brew, and their Get It Now), and crippling phones by limiting things like Bluetooth, and adding their common UI to everything... And I get a few dropped calls with them from time to ...
Unlock code?
Anyone have the unlock code for this phone? I had it from a while back when on AT&T wireless... I poped in a cingular sim the other day, but it doesn't work (even though there the SAME company)...
In any case, I'd like to maybe use it as a go phone, anyone know if there's an unlock code for it?
thanks
Re: oh, and quad band?
Will it be quad band? (850/900/1800/1900)

Q9 + Wi-Fi?
Will the Q9 have Wi-Fi? I'm assuming it will be 3G capable (WCDMA/HSDPA) on Cingular's network?
peace
Will GSM version of Q have Wi-Fi?
Will the GSM version of the Q have Wi-Fi enabled? Apparently Cingular will get this soon (or will it?) but it might not get Wi-Fi enabled... so??? /;|
cheers
Re: What the heck, no CDMA version?
The Q came out first on CDMA...
3G Blackjack vs Blackberry Pearl...
I recently picked up a Samsung Blackjack, but was also looking at the Pearl (and really intrigued about the 8800 showing up in a week or two at cingular stores)...
Question is - is the 3G of the Blackjack a better advantage to have right now? Besides the push email, which the Blackberries do very well (although I think there's similar push email capability, maybe not as slick or fast, on windows mobile 5.0) and they currently are EDGE only ...
Wi-Fi??
Will the Cingular version have Wi-Fi incorporated? Heard the 8800 might be capable of that, but doesn't mean Cingular would have that feature enabled.
So will it have Wi-Fi?

Can a 2366i prepaid be used on regular VZW plan?
If I buy this phone as a "pre-paid" (INpulse) (Walmart had them for cheap - $50), can it be used on a regular VZW plan? Or is it somehow locked to be used only as a pre-paid phone?
cheers
Can you get this phone with the following....
a) unlocked
b) without the stupid verizon interface
I have an E815 at the moment, and it's decent, but the antenna is broken (keep crazy glueing it), and I'm finding it bulky and wouldn't mind something small and slimmer. I like Moto's for the most part. And as far as I know, the E815 was one of the last Moto's that Verizon offered before switching to their god awful red interface.
Otherwise seriously considering switching over to the dark side (Cingular).
cheers
Re: so is 8720_01.1E.00 worth upgrading from 8720_01.17.03????
So is 8720_01.1E.00 worth upgrading from 8720_01.17.03????
Just fearfull that stuff like my stored pics, or all my phone #'s will get deleted if I take in my E815 for an upgrade...
Is this something to worry about, or is the upgrade completely safe and won't affect current content on the phone??
thnx
