no, only has "fastport" connection or whatever sony ericsson calls their weird proprietary connector. However, NOT to worry, this phone has stereo bluetooth! so, not only can u use a headset for making calls but for listening to audio/video/radio. Check out some of bluetakes headsets, they have some pretty sweet ones. :)

Computer Hook-up?

So this phone doesn't work with mobile phone tools. I am able to transfer pics, mp3's, etc through simple bluetooth transfer. Anyone have a recomendation for a way to back up phone/sim contacts from this phone to a PC? (for now I just put my sim in another phone that I can back up with, just kind of a pain....) Guess it might be a while before there is a lot of support for this ...

yep, larue is right. u must copy all your numbers from your sim to your phone, then if you don't want the sim number to show up you must delete all entries from your sim. if your going to take this route i would make sure u backup your contacts on your computer.

yes, i have the slvr. yes i have played with the sony w600. and it's personal preference on which on you like better, the slvr is on the cutting edge of style and size and is the draw to buying it, imho. yes the w600 is sweet, but i dont like slider/swivel phones and it's too big for me. however i dont think anyone cares why i like the phones that i like... anyways, ...

Songs placed via iTunes CANNOT be used as a ringtone, songs placed via mobile phone tools CAN be used as a ringtone. This is NOT a big deal becuase typically you want to truncate songs into ringtones so that they start where you want them to start, like the chorus or another good part of the song. If you used them from iTunes you would only hear the first ten seconds of a song or however long ...

As for the point #2 you make, "Oh let's lock the phone to and force our customers "BUY" ringtones, let's demand that they spend there money on our stupid interface that a real mobile user can't do any thing with... U cheap bastards!!!" If you do not know how to unlock the phone or make/put your own ringtones on it then what makes you think you could hack it if someone told you how? Also, as far as iTunes ...

typically motorola's are not as loud as other manufacturers. The set is plenty loud for me, and i thought the razr was a great improvement over the t720 v300,400,etc. series. anyways, as far as being louder than the razr, i would say no, its probably about the same. so it probably wont be loud enough for you if you didn't like the razr. anyone else have different ears than me?

yes, update your mobile phone tools (when it starts up it usually prompts for update). then you can do the same things you did with your v220. if you have the cingular one it came with a usb cable for itunes transfer, use this same cable. if you have usb 2.0 you can even charge your phone! :)

the volume is always better if you are calling cingular cus serv, voicemail, or another cingular customer. and yes, the speakerphone clarity and volume is rather low, it also hurts that it's on the back of the phone since you normally look at the front of your phone. I have the hardest time hearing sprint customers. anyone else notice a difference in volume when you call people with different service? anyways, i strongly recommend a ...

the slvr can play mp3's that are 192kbps or lower. they will not transfer if they are higher than that, which vbr mp3's typically are. no need to convert files if they are mp3 though.
