Not sure I understand your question -- using the above steps you can change the name of the sender or the name of the sender and the text. If you are asking if you can change both independently then I believe the answer to be NO.

In the CHAT window tap the top left corner of the screen (where it says CHAT) then tap options then preferences then tap the CHAT tab and change the bottom drop down on the page from NAME ONLY to NAME AND MESSAGE and click ok.

My opinion would be that what you have "always heard" is in error. LG makes phones that are as strong and durable as any in the industry -- and probably more so than a lot of them. I've run a 4 line family plan for the past 10 years or so (and single lines much much longer than that) and the LG's have always stood up extremely well. I've got a kid who beats the crap ...

It was a missed call indication. If its like most other LG phones if you go to MENU - SETTINGS - SYSTEM - DEVICE INFO there should be an entry for ICON GLOSSARY that will tell you what all the possible icons are.

Version 5 of the firmware supposedly supports 2 Gig cards (although any one sub on the card cannot exceed a Gig - i.e. MY MP3s, MY FLIX, etc,). Versions below 5 do not support 2 anything over a 1 Gig.

Okay try this: 1) forget everything else you’ve done. 2) Verify that the phone is set to MOD & MP3. 3) Insert the card and go to SETTINGS & TOOLS, SYSTEM, MANAGE MEMORY,CARD MEMORY – select the right softkey (OPTIONS) and FORMAT – the phone should ask for your security code (default is last 4 digits of phone number). WARNING!! You will lose everything you have on the CARD!!! 4) Go to GET TUNES & TONES and verify you have a MY MP3s entry. 5) Verify that the ...

I thought you told us over on Howards that you had returned the phone via his GF. So what else might we be less than truthful about? "Finding" it perhaps. Do the right thing -- take it back to a corp store and let them return it to the rightful owner. There's nothing you'll be able to do that'll ever get it to where you can activate it

These are the classic symptoms of using a form fitting case that's either too tight or causing an overheating problem or something similar. Joffery55 -- my bet is if you run a day or two without the case you'll never see it happen -- I ran a similar test over about a week -- in the case it locked up about every hour -- out of the case it NEVER locked up. Case in question is not ...

These symptoms are pretty much identical to others who reported (on HowardForums) that replacing the card has fixed the problem. There may be a strong possibility that your memory card is the culprit here. Any possibility of testing with a borrowed or other card?? Might pinpoint the problem.

Jun 5, 2006, 7:14 AM
in the LG V VX-9800 forum

With a display area as large as the Q and as thin as it is I'd think stuffing it in a jeans pocket would be a recipe for disaster. There have been reports of a number of cracked screens on 9800's from putting them in pockets and its got some heft to it to protect it -- the Q doesn't.

Re: mp3 on my phone...
May 31, 2006, 8:12 AM

Its pretty simple. 1) Since VCAST Music is not yet available for the 9800 there is absolutely NO WAY to put MP3s on the phone without a card or cable. 2) To move pix from your phone to you 'puter without a card or cable I believe the only method is to send them to your computer as pix messages -- one at a time. I think you can be fairly certain the ones being provided directly from Verizon are either re-branded LG chargers or other chargers rated for Lithium Polys.

Re: Nope!
May 22, 2006, 3:14 PM
in the LG V VX-9800 forum

The 9800 uses a Lithium Ion polymer battery. Lithium Polys must be protected from: 1. Overcharging, 2. Over discharging, 3. Charging at too rapid a rate, and 4. Exposure to over temp (either ambient or by overcharging). Battery chargers for Lithium Polys should be specifically designed for use with lithium Polys. Most Lithium Poly batteries have self protection circuits built in to prevent overcharging but these circuits do not protect from too rapid a charge. So, to make a long story short you really want to beware of ...

Re: Web audio?
May 10, 2006, 6:58 AM
in the LG V VX-9800 forum

Beware -- not just any adapter -- you need a 4 wire adapter (one that has 3 rings on it separating the 4 contact rings) -- one for each channel (left and right), the common and one for the mic. Just getting a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter is likely to leave you with only one channel of audio in the headphones.

Re: Newly purchased...

You should fully charge it. Plug it in and charge it until the front screen says charge complete. The time it takes to get there will be dependent upon how much charge is on the battery when it arrives. To fully charge a battery takes about 5 hours (according to the manual) It will probably not take near that long to fully charge yours.

Re: mp3s as ringtones?

Ringtones: Under Version 1 YES. Under Version 2 not really. They can be put on but they will cease to function as ringtones when you power the phone off and back on -- they would have to be re-added to work again. Wallpaper/Pix/Flix: Yes

Re: USB Cable
Apr 24, 2006, 8:41 PM

Depends upon the files. To put MP3s, pix and flix on you can do it via card reader or via cable -- beware cable is very slow. For ringers you need a cable.

Re: Movies

For video you don't need a cable if you have a miniSD and card reader (or multimedia machine). Just copy the converted file to the MY FLIX folder on the card using a card reader.

Yep -- miniSD and a card reader for your computer is all you really need for MP3s, Wallpaper, Pictures and Video (that is in the phones format). Check out the link I gave you -- it has links to 2 or 3 different software packages that will do the conversions plus step by step's on how to go about it. With BITPIM you can use any MP3 as a ringtone -- you can use whole songs if you want. ...
