Can't get txt msgs from sons

Hi, I am an 86 year old man & I can't get text messages from my sons. I have a Palm Treo700W that I bought years ago. I worked for IBM for years and we had backup galores. With that as a background you won't be surprised that I bought 7 Palm Treos as backup. Thanks for any help you provide-I live in Rockland County, NY
