Gboard supports non-3D-touch cursor movement
Eric, I'm really disappointed you missed one of Gboard's huge features: start swiping on the space bar and it'll move the cursor. This is invaluable for those of us who don't have 3D touch (and, in fact, valuable even for those who do... 3D touch isn't available to third-party keyboards, right?) I've played with both quite a bit, but this is what ultimately sold me on Gboard.
Risky not to use a phone with 3G (right now)
Interesting stuff. Even though Verizon has overlaid their entire network with LTE, LTE and CDMA still have different propagation and load patterns such that I still drop into 3G on my devices. Perhaps it'd be better in a few cases if it tried to hold onto the weaker LTE signal, but having that backup is still incredibly useful when the LTE signal is too weak to work effectively. I hope Verizon can start repurposing 3G spectrum more aggressively in the upcoming ...
Rich—you might want to correct the sentence "On the positive side, Nokia is catering to the no-compromise folks..." Too bad that these: a) feel cheap; b) will have limited carrier coverage in the US. As usual, Microsoft is handicapping their own chances before they're even out of the gate.
