Most Motorola authorized service centers will have the ability to do the upgrade (the really have to be certified, not just pretend certified). Oh, and they'll probably charge you to do it.

Voicemail Number. Also, customer care can do it, even though I know that's not a good answer.

Cingular gives you 30 days to try and return equipment. You need to keep your box and all the stuff that can with the phone if you want to be able to return it without extra charges. The only thing you are responsible for during the 30 days are any usage charges that you incurred. As far as I know Cingular is the only carrier to offer 30 days, unless the others have changed.

They are identical. That said go with the Smartphone plan. As time goes on Cingular may choose to modify the capabilities of the plans, that said it would be advantageous to have the more advanced Smartphone plan versus a presumably more limited MEdia Net plan.

Blackberry chargers work. Its actually a motorola thing, not a BlackBerry/HTC thing. Moto changes the pins for God knows what reason. Like to be different I guess.

If you are using a BES for your work e-mail it will show your work e-mail and if you are using the BIS for your personal e-mail you can set the address that displays as the sent from by going into profiles. You can use both simultaneously as the device will recognize which message you are replying from and address the message accordingly. However, if you are on a BES all new sent messages will show as ...

Hey encore, mine seems to be capturing the photo when I press capture. I don't know what to suggest, maybe check with Moto.

Ah, yes. I made the assumption that it was an L7 with iTunes on the phone. But that is correct, it there is no iTunes on the phone, iTunes on your computer is worthless.

Re: Memory question

Actually the SIM card stores what is described as intelligent roaming information. It receives updates that tell it which towers are home and which to select. In the case of the new Cingular, the "smartchip" knows to select both Cingular and newly merged AT&T towers in certain markets. The only user accesible memory is for contact storage.

The SIM card can store 250 names with one number attached if you are using a 64k SIM, if you have a 3G SIM it can store 250 names with up to 3 numbers and one e-mail address. The device itself has 5MB of internal memory and can hold 1000 names in its internal address book.

Re: Voice recognition: speaker dependent or speaker independent?

Unfortunately as far as I have determined the voice dial is speaker dependent and needs to be trained.

Typically a device will be removed from the website if it is on backorder or some kind of hold. Retail stores should have some of the devices in inventory.

If you want a more robust experience use the unlimited PDA connect plan. The MEdia Net Unlimited uses a limited portal designed to support only the limited browsing capabilities of standard handsets with only WAP browsers.

Unfortunately as a PDA the only way to turn the device off is to either place it in Aircraft mode or to remove the battery then not power it back up.
