You should still be able to do that. There is normally a setting to enable location based services or leave it as only activated when dialing 911.

Putting aside the common sense that needed to be smacked into Sprint regarding Customer Service, they are presenting a clearly formed opinion that any objective person in the industry would concur with.
AT&T's strength largely has been in the marketing department, rather that the network. Everytime I see a new ad on tv the BS astounds me. Now they are calling themselves "THE NETWORK", hmm where did I hear that before...

Customer service is soso. Its not nearly as bad as some other carriers though. It is all US based currently, so you won't be directed to a call center in Mexico, India, or Nicaragua.
I recommend activating with a dealer rather than directly with PagePlus. They can act as your liaison if you run into issues, and its good to have a personal contact in these situations.

Backwards?
I generally understood the concept of an MVNO as a distributor that basically bought block's of allowances wholesale from the carrier, and resold them in the manner they saw fit.
Sprint is really unique in this aspect, and it makes you wonder due to their declining market share.
I hope sprint can hold on long enough to do something impressive with the 4g roll-out, and with their foray into WIMAX. I personally would not choose sprint as a customer or investor ...

Is this really news. This has been on the slate for quite awhile, RCR profiled this months ago.
Sprint is one of the few carriers that operates/owns its towers. Although I think they need an infusion of capital right now, the amount they are receiving in return seems rather low IMO. I guess tower sites are loosing value just like the American Dollar.
Verizon/Cingular, etc have been using people like Crown Capital and American Tower for years.
Alternative WAP Programming
My mother purchased this phone recently, and I was rather impressed for what appeared to be a low-end moto phone. Pretty solid for the price.
I would like to set this up to run FREE WAP via HoTTProxy off my broadband connection.
I already accessed the security/programming menu via #073887*, but could not locate the area in which to change wap settings.
Has VZW neutered this model even further than most phones?
Can anyone provide instructions for accessing the settings, short of hacking ...

I am in sales for VZW. A good sales person (myself) :wink: , will recommend the phone with the best qualities over the best price. Resulting in higher customer satisfaction, resulting in more referrals, resulting in less chargebacks and churn due to dissatisfaction, and increasing retained commision.
Really simple when you think about it.
We are not paid on the phone we sell, its all about the plans and features.

Well I work for an exclusive VZW agent so it might vary. But roadside is a commisionable feature for me. My company also credits it towards DTR. Although SLAMMING is NOT beneficial if you think about it, we have a 60 day chargeback on commissions, so slamming this and Vcast which I have seen alot of(not by my company), just bites you in the a.s.s when you get commission reviews.

I would recommend you visit the VZW kiosk in your local circuit city.
I am a competing dealer and have seen them giving a free bluetooth w/ the 815 quite often recently, but only at the CC locations.
I would check that out if they are open on the 4th.

1) Depending on what billing system you are in, edits are in place to filter out fake account nummbers. (what system are you in?) You are correct that in most instances it will work w/o the correct account #, but when other information in the port request doesn't match, and it results in a fallout, this is where you wish you would have taken the time to request this from your customer. My best solution at the moment is to flash the device to the Alltell or U.S. Cellular firmware if they carry the same model. Then perfom seems edits, etc.
