The treo 700w has a better build quailty, a better implementation of WM 5.0. It more 'one handed' friendly, has better reception, has a better speakerphone, has a better earpiece, and has a bigger battery.
I have both and even though I love my Treo 700w its being put up for sale. The only thing the xv 6700 doesnt have that i wish it did is the picsel browser from the i730 and the remote blaster. ...

well it depends what you want....I really loved the bb 8700c when i had it. It was by far my favorite phone ever! Push email is a plus for business and no one does it better than RIM, international roaming with GSM is a plus and EDGE speeds are very good (not as good as EV-DO but close enough) And with enterprise server with the BB you can pretty much limit what they do with the phones. ...

That WSJ article is tough to read. REMEMBER this is NOT a Palm OS product. Those of you looking for something along the lines of Palm OS should stay with their Treo 650's. WM 5.0 brings alot of new strengths and weaknesses to the Treo platform.
Personally having used 3 Treo 650's I have to say that the Treo 700w is far and away the better of the two. Better reception, better earpiece volume ...

Holding down the OK button brings up a 'running programs list'. Right now my list is showing me Calendar, ActiveSync, and Text messages. From here I should be able to "close" out these programs by either stopping them one by one, or all at the same time.
My problem is, that Calendar and Text messages should be running cuz I opened those apps. I did NOT open active sync...AT ALL today. Why is it ...

Ok...that's probably gonna solve my Win 2000 problem...but the problem I'm having is on the Treo it self. Active sync is always running in the background. Without being prompted to. I don't have over the air sync'ing enabled so I don't think it's that.

Ok, so I finally managed to sync up my Treo to my XP desktop (but not my Win 2000 notebook :( ) and everything is working fine.
My problem is on the handheld. Active Sync always seems to be running in the background. Everytime I close it out and run something else (like the messenging app or IE) it comes back on and runs in the background again. It's using resources that I don't want it ...

I havent dropped a call yet either...riding in elevators, being in my basement at home. I regularly get one or no bars in my basement and have had 30 min conversations with no service interruption or dropped calls. The clarity is there also. WM devices have traditionally had a pessimistic radio signal IMO. Even with cingular in my house which got great reception, my 5600 and hp 6515 regularly showed one or two bars. ...

hold down the OK key and it brings up a list of running programs. From there you can close any programs that are running in the background.

and follow the directions exactly and still nothing. I have a vzwmail.net password and it works on vtext, pix msging and vzwmail. I don't know whats wrong. I guess I'm gonna have to call tech support.
email on Treo 700w
I am having some trouble sending email from my device. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the POP settings being wrong, more specifically, the SMTP settings. Does anyone know what SMTP server to use on Verizons network for Gmail? The Gmail SMTP settings do not work.
When I had my Cingular Treo 650 the Gmail SMTP settings did not work on that device either...something about email originating from the Treo being regarded as spam. ...

Also the magnet on the 7290 is in a different place than on the 8700. So the magnet on the 7290 case might not line up properly on the 8700.

MMS is not supported by this phone. Cingular has disable the MMS service book. As of right now, you cannot send or receive MMS. How do I know this...I have the phone!
