Thos games were programmed for a QCIF display (176x220). I was in the same boat you are, but instead of trying to find games, i download an NES emulator PocketNester to play Ninendo games. Not all the game splay well on the phone since you can only move up,down, left, right but most do. The only smartphone game i have is tennis addict and it is at qcif. I also loaded TCPMP and convert a lot of movies/shows ...

Re: Rokr + Video

Jus to update on this issue. I switched to a program called MediaCoder, which is Open Source. You got to love free. Anyway I still rip the dvd, but convert to 3gp from the vob using MediaCoder. OUTSTANDING results. The thing w/ the ROKR is that the processor is very very weak. I'm guessing like 75-80mHz maybe. Anyway if you try to play video w/ large date rate (actually not large but anything over like ...

Improvements over E1...But?
Aug 21, 2006, 10:33 AM
in the Motorola ROKR E2 forum

I can see great improvements over the E1, which I have. The 3.5 jack, larger display, USB 2.0 & Edge (huge ones IMO), FM Radio, camera. My concern is that they only increased the internal memory to 10MB? Is this phone still going to have the lag issue? With a larger display it would be great to throw a few sitcoms or cartoons for the kid on it. The Rokr E1 really lags when it plays video ...

Re: 3gp Video quality

in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Good Questions. Worth a bump to get answered. I also want to know if the phone lags on video. Like say a 25MB file, or 20-22 min Family Guy/Seinfeld. I wouldn't put a full movie, but even a 10min Winnie the Pooh for the 2yr would be nice. I have the rokr and it lags. I can't see that this phone w/ the same amount of internal memory (5mb) wouldn't lage as well. Also the Rokr is missing ...

Nokia Multimedia Converter (free) 3GP Converter (free) QuickTime Pro (29.99) imtoo which was already posted(29.99) I have some Chappelle and Family Guy stuff on mine. Try to keep the files below 20MB or it will choke the phone to death. You'll have to pull the battery if you play a video to large in order to stop it. lol i use the 3gp convert myself, and if i need to make it smaller i'll use Nokia or Quicktime.

If they are in the /mobile/video folder than it can only be two things i know of 1. the video isn't in 3gp or mp4 format 2. when you go under video on the phone you have to switch the storage device to the transflash card. that is all i can think of. i haven't ran into that problem, unless i put a video that wasn't 3gp or mp4. (every thing i have on mine is 3gp, since i can get a ...

covert the video to mp4 or 3gp. i use Nokia Media Converter (free but you have to register) and set the max file size to 10MB per episode. It does good for the cartoon. I just wish the rokr had fast-forward and rewind options. Anyway when you connect the rokr while that itunes stuff is happening you should be a "removable drive" come up in windows explorer. It will be called whatever you named your Transflash card. drop your ...

V3i i think will be out in march. If you want something equivalent to that now then that would be the rokr. beside design they are very similar, v3i jus have 12mb phone memory and a better camera. v557 is pretty much what you had so I'd try something different. i would go w/ rokr or want for v3i. or the W600i which has a lot of the same features 256mb phone memory, but no expansion. i love my ...

No. I have that nokia software. It doesn't recognize the m4v format. It works well when I want to convert avi, mpeg, wmv or other 3gp files though. I use it to cut my Family Guy episodes down to just under 10mb. Thx

Re: Question

i downloaded a episode of The Office. The videos are in .m4v format which can be viewed on the video ipods and your pc. The rokr supports mp4 but not that type of an mpeg4. the 22 min video was 120MB. I can't find anything to convert m4v to 3gp does anyone has any ideas?

Re: Question

I am not sure. I was tempted to pay 1.99 to try it. I think you would have to actually get the video file and convert it depending on the size of the video. i am pretty sure you would have to save it yourself into the video folder, as the itunes on the rokr is just for music. i might try it. what vid did u want?

Re: How do i use my rokr as a mass storage drive
Dec 7, 2005, 3:48 PM
in the Motorola ROKR E1 forum

i don't have any instructions. make sure the video is in 3gp or mp4 format. also make sure you switch to the transflash card under videos. put your mp3 in the audio folder put any 3gp/mp4 vids in video put pics into pictures (make sure they are small enough for the phone to view) put your games/apps (jar files) into jkava.

if your not going to install the cd then go to motorola.com and pull up the Rokr. They have a software update for the ROkr. Is called: ROKR Updatev1 3.msi This will install a little motorola app to "update" your rokr. I don't know what it actually updates but it good to stay up w/ the current version. Regardless in the folder you install this into you will have the drivers you are looking for.

Re: What games come with

you gotta put the jar in the kjava folder. then go into the phone to games/apps and switch the storage device to the transflash card Then chose "Install New" and select the jar you want to install. This installs the game or app into the phones 5mb memory. switch storage device back to the phone to see the installed games/apps

let ituntes do its thing. open windows explorer and you should see an extra drive named whatever you called your transflash card. you will have a mobile folder and in it some more folders put your mp3 in the audio folder put any 3gp/mp4 vids in video put pics into pictures (make sure they are small enough for the phone to view) put your games/apps (jar files) into jkava. etc.

Dec 6, 2005, 1:31 PM
in the Motorola ROKR E1 forum

the rokr doesn't have the java mp3 player that other moto phones had, like e398, v635. you can only play the file in sounds w/o iTunes. maybe you can find someone who has the old java mp3 player and install it. weird that iTunes would play the limewire stuff. Are they mp3s? If they are wmv or wav i though iTunes on your pc converts them to acc

I was going to say the moto V540. At least it has edge and bluetooth and a larger display. otherwise it's lg 1500, samsung x427 or x497 the 3 latter you can get off cingular.com. the v540 you might have to look on ebay or have a store order. maybe have to get from motorola.com

yes. it is ok. It's a little bulky, not bad. It didn't have a lot of memory. I had some complaint that people couldn't hear me. You can use the keyboard for all the functions now, though.

Re: Again mp3 ringtones

:D You were on the right track! The Rokr just can't play ringtone off the card. So, go into sounds and switch the storage device to the trans card. Find the ringtone and either copy or move it to the phone. Then you have to switch the storage device back and set is as your ringtone or go into settings/audio and change the ring detail for call to the ringtone. Same process would apply to games/apps etc. You can store ...

In my opinion I think that the phone is laid out great. The buttons are easy even for a guy with large hands. Maybe if the guy had some cool music playing through the stereo speakers when he pulled it out you would be impressed. But I doubt it. The Nokia 6620/6680 looks worse and it is a hell of a phone. :D

Yes, you go into the Phone Entry and edit it. Go down to MORE and select add phone number. Then go into your phonebook settings and change it to only show Primary Contacts. You will only see the main number. you can push left/right on the joystick to get the cell/work etc for that contact.
