i dont't think you can purchase the TV show off iTunes and play it on the SLVLR. BUT you can use a show you have downloaded onto you computer and use imTOO 3gp converter to convert the TV show and store it on your phone.

Re: SOLUTION TO MOST OF EVERYONE'S MPT PROBLEMS!

Yeah, I just upgraded to MPT 4.0 as well through the link provided by JonSpotts in the previous posts. Now I can see the SLVR displayed instead of the RAZR and I didn't have to manually select the SLVR as a V3 :D I highly recommend the link provided by JonSpotts because that version also has the liveupdates to keep your MPT updated.

SOLUTION TO MOST OF EVERYONE'S MPT PROBLEMS!

After reading all of your problems/questions/concerns, I realized that I have had similar problems and may have the solution to help you guys out. First, let me explain the USB settings on the SLVR L7. When you go into MENU - SETTINGS - CONNECTION - USB SETTINGS, you will notice there are two options: MEMORY CARD (which is usually the default option), and DATA/FAX CONNECTION. When using iTunes make sure the phone is set to the MEMORY CARD ...

I did not update my version of Mobile Phone Tools. Like eddiearias, I also just selected the phone as the V3, so the image of the RAZR comes up but the program functions perfectly for the SLVR as well.

Re: Earpiece volume?
Feb 16, 2006, 3:38 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I don't think that the RAZR volume is better, I think that both the SLVR and RAZR are exactly the same. I have the SLVR and other members in my family have both RAZR's, and I see no difference. So if you didn't like the RAZR volume then its the exact same as the SLVR. And yes, it does seem sort of low to me as well but nothing unbearable

I'm not too sure about MMode. I purchased the Cingular branded SLVR and I have MEdia Net in my options, no MMode. Hope this helps :?

Re: will MP3 player work for non-Cingular?
Feb 16, 2006, 3:33 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

They say that because Cingular branded SLVR's are the only ones with iTunes loaded on the PHONE. You can't upload songs to the SLVR through iTunes if the phone doesnt have the software installed in it. So if you have an unlocked version that you might have purchased from oversea's, I don't think that you can use iTunes to transfer the songs. However, the MP3 player will work, you just have to use something else but ...

Re: Speakerphone

in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I love this phone and your right, the speakerphone is great for itunes and ringtones. But some reason when in a call the speakerphone volume is lower. I don't think that the speakerphone is crappy quality wise; the sound is clear. I just think that the volume is too low for a speakerphone when in a call. I switched over to Cingular from Nextel, and it's a drastic change after having a Nextel speakerphone. ...

Go into the Menu in your phone and click on CONNECTION, then click on USB SETTINGS, and make sure that it is set to MEMORY CARD. Thats the only thing I could think of because I had a similar problem. Hope this works :?

Feb 12, 2006, 5:28 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I have the Cingular version of the SLVR. Yes, you can upload songs that are already loaded on your PC to your phone. Once you dowload/install iTunes you simply drag the songs from the iTunes library to your phone within the software. As far as I know, there are no disadvantages to the SLVR over the black RAZR. My dad has the silver RAZR, brother has the black RAZR, and I have the SLVR. ...

I have this phone and use the ImTOO 3GP Video Converter that is specifically for mobile phones. The software is extremely easy to use, and you can get it from www.download.com. I have the full edition, but download.com only offers the free trail that encored 2 minutes of the clip. It converts any video file type to .3gp , which is the file that the SLVR and most mobile phones accept. And yes, these videos ...

in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I asked a Cingular representative the point of the PTT capability if it doesnt work with Cingular. He said that his best guess is that in the future Motorola/Cingular will come out with a software update to install on the phone to possibly have it work for Cingular's PTT.

Re: Can you transfer music to this phone using bluetooth?
Feb 6, 2006, 4:43 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Yes you can if you use the Motorola Phone Tools software. I use the USB cable that came with the phone, but you can also choose Bluetooth as an option. The software lets you customize your own ringtones, images, videos, and even set up a phone book.

Camera Issues

I'm not sure if I'm the only person who has this problem, but when I use the camera on my SLVR and I snap the picture, I then click on STORE image but the image that gets stored is not the image I snapped on the camera. It seems like the image that gets stored is where the camera lens is aimed when i click on STORE. I find this rather odd and EXTREMELY annoying. Anyone ...

CingularChick, I had the same problem that you had. In order to get the few songs that didnt drag-and-drop to work, I had to convert them to AAC format by right-clicking on the specific song and clicking "Convert selected item to AAC format" (This is done in the iTunes program itself) Then just simply drag the AAC format of the song and it works. I know, this annoys me too but its the only way I've ...

you can download iTunes for your PC but it will not work if the India version of this phone does not have iTunes installed on the phone itself. You cannot (atleast from what I know) install iTunes onto the phone; the US version comes with it factory installed onto the phone.

Re: Mp3 Quality
Feb 5, 2006, 1:04 AM

The quality from the speakers is outstanding. When you purchase the SLVR it does come with a converter that plugs into the SLVR and has a 3.5mm headset jack at the end so you can plug in the headphones that come with it, or your own. Also, motorola has bluetooth headphones that you can use. However, i havent tried the headphones or the bluetooth headphones, but the speakers are great.

Although the phone lacks a headphone jack, the phone will come with stereo headphones and 3.5mm headset adapter. 512MB not 5MB!

I went to the Cingular dealer today to purchase this phone. He said that the phone has built-in 5MB of memory but also comes with an additional 512MB expansion card. I don't know about you guys but I was under the impression that it only came with 5MB and you had to purchase a 512MB seperately, so this was big news to me! 8)

AlfaRomeo, don't get caught up in what a few others are saying. The SLVR is everything you can possibly want plus more. It does have a camera, but it isn't a megapixel camera. It has a video camera as well, along with iTunes, PTT, speakerphone, bluetooth, and a sleek design. It's the perfect phone. You should definatly consider buying it. :D

Re: Not PTT capable for Cingular
Jan 26, 2006, 12:23 AM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

hmm..altough I don't have any credible sources to rely on, I feel like that is not true (just my 2 cents). It is pointless for motorola to make a PTT capable phone and launch it exclusively for Cingular if the PTT won't work. And even if you get an unlocked version, TMobile doesnt have the PTT capability and Nextel uses different SIM cards. So the PTT button would be pointless for any situation. I don't ...

no clue towards pricing but I wouldn't be surprised if the phone sold 300 without a contract for cingular. I actually would be expecting more along the 350-399 price range but who knows.

Re: will the SLVR L7 work with Cingulars PTT???
Jan 24, 2006, 8:18 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Although I don't have the phone yet, my best guess would be that the SLVR will support Cingular's PTT. Considering that Cingular just launched their PTT service recently and the SLVR will be launched for Cingular, I think it's safe to say that it will work. The best thing to do is to wait out another week or two for the phone to come out and ask the Cingular representative for yourself.

in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Eyesris, I'm guessing you are a Cingular dealer? Just out of curiosity, would you know the exact date that Cingular will receive the SLVR's? I know they will be released around the first week of February but I'm attempting to find the exact date so I can purchase this phone the day it comes out.

Re: ACTUAL RELEASE DATE!
Jan 22, 2006, 3:37 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

Yes, Cingular has come out with PTT. Last I've checked it's an extra $10 a month for unlimited PTT use. This is a little pricey compared to Nextel, but I think after more people get it the price should go down within the year. As of now, there are only 2, maybe 3, Cingular phones that utilize PTT (LG and Samsung models). Hope this information helped.

Re: ACTUAL RELEASE DATE!

Yeah I know I checked out your previous post. They're decently priced too. But for those that are waiting to get it from their carrier (Cingular) it will be officially released in the US on the first week of February. If you check out Motorola's main page right now it only shows the SLVR released in Germany, Italy, UK, etc. So I'm guessing MobilePlanet either has imports or was able to get ahold of them ...

ACTUAL RELEASE DATE!

Now that the SLVR L7 is actually being advertised on Motorola's main page, I decided to give them a call. The Motorola representative that I spoke with said that the SLVR L7 will be released in the US during the first week of February. Only 2 more weeks to go! :D

Re: SLVR L7 at Cingular
Dec 26, 2005, 1:15 PM
in the Motorola SLVR L7 forum

I have a feeling that PTT will be enabled on this phone for Cingular. Cingular already launched its PTT service on a LG and Samsung phone. They are currently charging an additional $10 a month for unlimited PTT use. Compared to Nextel, this seems kind of pricey. :?

Yes, 4th quarter is October to December. CNET says that this phone is coming out late 2005/early 2006. My best guess is that the SLVR will be out by january and MAYBE february latest. Let's keep our fingers crossed. :?

The SLVR L7 is supposedly going to have iTunes on it and will be able to store up to 100 songs, similar to the ROKR (according to this Engadget article at least) 8) http://www.engadget.com/entry/12340003230 65935/
