Yes heres how: 1. go to this website first: http://gosset.wharton.upenn.edu/mor tality/perl/CalcForm.html and find out how long you have left to live. 2. Right click on the bluetooth icon in your status bar on your pc, select Send a File. 3. Browse for your w600i (make sure your bluetooth is turned on and you have previously paired your device or have it set to discoverable) Hit Next 4. Browse for the MP3 you want to send. There was on AT%T side, it was a delivery notification... and i'm not to terribly sure but I believe it was handset specific, i know I could do it on my SE T616 but don't recall seeing the feature on any other handsets. As for Cingular side.. don't know/haven't tried.

Re: does the IMEI serve any purpose at all?
Feb 2, 2006, 1:23 AM

think of it like your car. You carry a drivers license and your car has a license as well. The billing system keeps track of the imei per call as well as the standard stuff like call origination, roaming and call length. This is also used to detect fraud. While it is extremely difficult to clone GSM lines, multiple IMEI's in a billing system within seconds of each other would likely be the result of ...

I can't say that I have heard anything about this, it's not like the PTT or answer tones which has information floating around concerning the possibility of it... But while were on the subject, lets just make it clear that what sprint and verizon offer is not GPS. GPS as in the same thing that you get with gps navigation systems for your car, boat, plane, mountain bike etc. That has a seperate radio which recieves GPS signals ...

Thats just the nature of GSM. The system automatically inserts fake background noise when there is no activity on the line, whether it is due to a weak signal or actually no noise coming in from the other caller. If this happens everywhere you go and your showing good signal, then there might be something wrong with your handset.

Doubtful... I don't know if this is helpful but less than 2% of Cingular's customers are still on analog. Those will be the very last areas that are upgraded to 3G, and thats only if its at all cost effective. Besides GAIT there isn't even a GSM to Analog fallback. Analog -Analog TDMA -TDMA

Re: Check/Insert SIM
Jan 30, 2006, 4:36 PM

While those reasons could possibly explain some of these issues, the more likely reason is the one that was addressed by Cingular at the end of October 05. A very large batch of 64k Gemplus sims would fail randomly for no apparent reason. Over time a "wafer" component in the chip would weaken and cause it to fail. This batch of cards was unregistered with Cingular's network, but if a customer had one active on an account it ...

Do you have a 6340i or just a 6340? Scenario #1: The 6340 was 1900 GSM only, and Centennial's New Blue GSM network is 850 Mhz only. There in would lie your problem. Scenario #2: Your SIM card is not compatible with your GAIT phone. GAIT phones came from simpler times.. if you have a 64K sim make sure it is Axalto or Oberthur brand, not Gemplus. If you have a 3G sim (blue on the underside, which ...

No you can't just buy a Cingular phone and get it to work with your AT&T sim card. Purchasing a phone from Cingular and trying to get it unlocked is a bad idea if you have no experience. If you do go this route, purchase a Nokia as the unlock process for these phones in almost all cases has been reduced to layterms. If you buy a unbranded phone your internet, text messaging and multimedia messaging settings will have to ...

Bye bye ROKR!
Jan 26, 2006, 12:21 AM
in the AT&T forum

Cingular finally got smart and got rid of that poor excuse for a phone: Posted on http://tucw.blogspot.com No more ROKR? Since December the Motorola ROKR E1 had been in short supply. It was originally believed to have been simply a supply shortage... akin to what iPoders frequently experience. We have significant reasons to believe however that the ROKR has been dropped from the Cingular line up. Some possible confirmation came today to calls and visits to several company-owned stores where the Cingular ...

It depends on the handset and the IM software on it. The LG IM program lets you change the settings to log on via GPRS or just do standard IM over SMS.

You do know you can actually use that phone to call the person?
Nov 30, 2005, 6:59 PM

Cingular had unlimited text in the past, probably before any other carrier did for that matter. Yes, Cingular profits off of people that cant sum up conversations in under TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED text messages a month. You do know you can actually place a call with the handset right? You could also set your LG F9100 to use GPRS instead of SMS to send IMs. Then just get unlimited data.

Re: what exactly is WCDMA
Nov 30, 2005, 6:52 PM

Its alot more of a difference between 3G and 2G. CDMA is the closed source wireless technology developed and primarily used here in the US by Sprint and Verizon. CDMA works by all users transmiting on the same frequency at the same time, the C in CDMA stands for code. A individual code is assigned to a phone each time it places a call, this phone is then used to determine which, out of all the ...

Oh and about the activation fee... its a blue moon event for them to be waived by Cingular. Often times you will see resellers advertising a waived activation but its really just a credit for 36 (or 26) dollars in the form of a rebate or discount on equipment. ATTWS used to waive activation fees back in the day, and used to have it written into business contracts... From what I have seen of business contracts recently ...

I would go with ralph and say first part of next quarter due to the lack of any visible merchandising for the phone in stores, the absence of even a pre-launch notification and the large stock of v3 razrs.. We are no longer receiving silver razrs... so that may be a sign. I wouldnt say its impossible for the new razr to popup before christmas, but very unlikely...

You will need to manually plug in the SMS gateway, MMS and MediaNet settings. Sony Ericsson has a tool available on their site with this info, you can also search around on the internet. Its very possible the voicemail indicator will not function properly, as it does not on unlocked AT&T gsm phones. The w800i is only triband, leaving out the 850 band. Keep in mind that if you are in an area where Cingular does not have ...

makes sense. the idea of what a retail store is was completely different between the two companies... and still is to some extent. In my areas you find reps in blue stores pointing to the customer service phone for any issues, where the reps in the orange stores do almost everything themeselves.

yes. GSM, GPRS and EDGE all use the same channels to transmit voice or data.. Hence why you cant use MediaNet and talk at the same time. This will all change when HSDPA/UMTS starts rolling out in handsets.

Sorry dude your post got lost amongst all the people arguing with TenMidgets. Without actually messing with your computer its gonna be hard to resolve the problem. Best thing I can recommend is to open up the device manager with the card reader unplugged, plug it in, and then watch what appears. Select the card reader in the device manager, and delete it. Then unplug the reader and plug it back in, letting windows reinstall it. ...
