they're kinda a late comer to this business. Spotify is $10/mo too... so what does Apple bring us that doesn't already exist? besides a service for sycophants?

"I would like to see government grants to smaller cell phone carriers" I would much rather like to NOT see my money sent to subsidize bad business ventures. Leave that to the independent investors (like you, if you're so passionate about this cause).

If you don't like Verizon's coverage, then switch carriers. You have no right to FORCE or MANDATE any company to do something special just for you.

Retaliation for not helping the FCC with net "neutrality"

This is politics. Do not forget that the FCC is a POLITICAL machine, run by control freaks. This is retaliation for VZW standing up the the FCC. Make no mistake.

Throttled is still unlimited

in the Article: FTC Nails TracFone for $40M Over False Advertising forum

This is a bunch of crap. Carriers should be allowed to throttle if they feel they need to in order to keep enough bandwidth open for all their customers. The cable companies do this. This throttling shouldn't be a surprise if people actually read their service agreements. Are they not getting unlimited data? just a little slower? Why is it TracFone's fault people don't read?

You're not thinking thru this. Or you're only thinking based on your emotions. An ISP has every right to offer different plans at different rates. You have every choice to choose one or go to another provider. An ISP has every right to throttle high-usage customers (as long as that user is aware of the arrangement), in order for that ISP to manage traffic to provide ALL their customers with a usable network. Unless you understand the network usage/bandwidth needs, ...

More regulation and a larger government hardly ever helps. It just opens the door for corruption and govt-sanctioned monopolistic behavior. Dont give in to the emotional, empty arguments made by people that just want political control.

I think both of you are far off-base. More regulation and a more intrusive government won't help. It rarely does. It will only serve to shut down consumer options.

in the Article: Android L to Have Encryption Turned On By Default forum

While data ON the phone might be encrypted, any data stored in the "cloud" is still unprotected. And this still allows the "cloud" providers (Google) to snoop all they want. GMail is not encrypted. Google has no interest in really protecting your privacy, because they need/want to snoop. Its how they sell advertising. It is unfortunate, because Google could really push email encryption into the mainstream if they wanted. And I really wish they did.

Does this have a notification LED? I've read that early non-US versions of this phone lacked the LED indicator... but was hoping they added it back for the US version. Can anyone confirm either way?

is there an easy way to switch in and out of vibrate mode like on the v325 where you can just hit the side buttons when closed? or do you just have to open the phone and go volume all the way up or down? to me its unacceptable if there isn't a quick way of switching... anyone know anything about this?
