The only reason I can see ATT doing this is out of fear of the new tech. Makes Sprint's latest decisions seem pretty on point doesn't it? This bodes quite well for the WiMax tech if a company is afraid of its nationwide deployment. ...I wonder if Verizon will jump on with ATT and also ask for some scrutiny.

I'm on my 2nd Blackberry. Had one with T-Mobile, now with Sprint. Personal opinion of the phone is extremely high, and reception seems excellent. Random tip on phones: business type phones tend to have the best reception, but often the worst battery life.

That you are all experts on market conditions, experts on how much money a company is making, and experts on everything relating to carriers you have no involvement in. To add to that thought: do you think someone @ Sprint woke up today and said "Lets sell all our towers!!!!!111ONE!"? Seriously? This is called a business PLAN. It was planned, executed, and successfully implemented by people who get paid more than any of you. Speculation is one thing, but ...

Apparently, it charges from the phone, and it just deactivates itself when it's plugged into the phone. Yeah, that probably draws battery— when I review the Decoy, I'll find out how much." Built in bluetooth headset that charges while in the phone? ROFL! So bad battery life due to CDMA, bad battery life due to bluetooth, bad battery life due to charging the bluetooth. The idea is neat, the reality is retardation. I guess we'll see the real life iteration of this phone, but I expect this to be captain of the SS Failboat.

This thing is going to have an 1800mAh battery on it. That would give it the biggest battery I've seen on a phone to date (at least with the li-ion). For a comparison, the Blackberry 8810 uses an 1100mAh battery for 240 minutes of talk. Its an increase of 63% on the battery -- which will be huge considering it appears to be a GSM phone. So this could potentially have roughly 390 minutes of talk time... 6.5 hours ...

Just not gonna happen. The reason why Sprint/Nextel still has push to talk customers has NOTHING to do with speed. It has nothing to do with the fact that its Sprint/Nextel. It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that there's 20 million people who can chirp one another. Verizon will fail at this attempt... again. Chirp is fantastic in the business world (I guess, cuz that's where I see them) and its a great novelty for regular consumers. ...

Do you think ANY of the carriers are interested in letting another iPhone fiasco happen? Do you think that ANY of the carriers are interested in losing a possible revenue stream? So what is likely going to happen is that the phone that everyone will carry will be the 'Lightning' (just a made up name). It will be full touch screen, have a model number of 9400 or 9600 and not have a potential LTE chip in it. RIM ...

Said handset can then be released by all carriers after said exclusive period. To clarify the point of this statement, and to enlighten the fanboys of the world, EVERY carrier will have this phone. I agree with both of you, but until they really fix the tactile feedback problem, I feel like buttons are much better. I know they have the technology to have a real 'push back' on touch screen phones. I understand its cost prohibitive at the moment, but until this comes out, its hard to compare the 2. Vibrating when you push a button doesnt really help signify that you're hitting the right key, just hitting a key in general. ...

See below post... Verizon is notorious for cutting phone capabilities to work better with their UI. When Sprint and Verizon have the SAME (model number even) and different camera... etc... its not BlackBerry who wants to cripple you or Moto or Sammy. As a phone manufacturer, you want the BEST experience possible into your customers hands... not the worst. Common sense is a tool, use it.

I love you guys. I really do. You keep me busy with all your FUD. Sprint has the exact same phones (8130, 8330) which both have 3g data, and oops! 2mp cameras. Verizon cripples the devices, dont think its the manufacturer. Or, you can just say that Sprint is using better technology, your choice. PS - I dont work for Sprint, I'm just clearing up your lack of insight past the company you work for.

To add to what you said, this phone uses QChat. QChat is the new sub-second PTT that Sprint is rolling out, and its FANTASTIC. Uses Rev.A data speeds to make it work, and works both with other QChat phones, as well as Nextel phones seamlessly. We went from this phone to an old Nextel Blackberry, worked flawlessly.

Rich, I can confirm its a Sanyo exclusive. I met with a Sanyo rep last week and played with this phone. It is something that Sanyo owns the technology to -- and Kyocera since the buyout -- and will only be on their branded phones.

Best Buy has a large customer base, as well as a well known image. Sure there might be better, but that's like saying Ford or GM are bad measuring sticks for the auto industry. They are HUGE, they will ALWAYS be a measuring stick. Additionally, your own personal bias towards whatever company you work for doesn't reflect the general populations idea of where to buy things. Many > one.

Incorrect. Costco is Wireless Advocates(WA) which is NOT affiliated with RadioShack. Wireless Advocates is a division of a company called CarToys. Additionally, the employees AND managers of WA are commissioned. I used to run one. As to the whole 'its gonna fail if they aren't commissioned', you are exactly right. My understanding is that they are going to sell ALL carriers. Additionally, Best Buy employees have a long-standing tradition of not being on commission. As a result, they have lost alot of marketshare by not getting deep into phones. If they were to have a bunch of commissioned sales people (this venture), then they would make alot more money in a very profitable and still growing sector. Also, from what I understand of Carphone Warehouse, they are HUGE in ...

ATT has a 'soft limit' on their data. They say 'Hey, you're running over, cut it out or we're gonna cut you off!'. Verizon also has a soft limit of 5GB... but instead they charge overages (aka make a ridiculous bill). Which would you prefer, 'Hey watch out' or 'HAHAHAH $400 bill'?
