GPS problems on the Moment.
Jun 8, 2010, 7:49 AM
in the Samsung Moment forum

My GPS just doesn't work. Called Sprint and after much stupidity and sillyness took it to my local repair place where they said. Yep it doesn't work. Okay I go a new Moment and the GPS still doesn't work. I have tried it a number of times in the car and no joy. My wife's Pre works just fine. So am I unlucky or does GPS just not work on the Moment. BTW I am in a smallish town in Florida so no ...

in the HTC EVO 4G forum

I feel the problem with the Pre had a lot more to do with the original SDK. It sucked to be nice. I looked at it and almost every all I want to write was impossible to write with the original SDK. As far as the network? I think with Sprint's great pricing that may be a benefit now. AT@T's network has about the worst rep on the planet. Sprint has been very good for me and a lot cheaper than ...

RENOB12 that comment was probably meant as a joke. With a contract I will guess that it will be the same as an iPhone. $199 seems to be the magic number but nobody has an official price yet.

The next gen iPhone may be as good or better than the Evo. Except that it will still be on AT&T. And AT&T had zero 4G coverage at this time. Frankly every iPhone fanboi should love this phone. If for no other reason that it may drive Apple to make the iPhone even better. I for one do not understand this rah rah fanboi stuff for companies like Apple, Microsoft, RIM and Google. They sure don't pay my bills. So why post any comment ...

Wow much of a fan boy are you? Actually Nokia and RIM sell more smart phones than Apple does so if you look at just sales Apple isn't number one. Also why not compare it to the iPhone? They each have their good and bad points. The Droid has a better camera and a hardware keyboard that the iPhone lacks. The iPhone does have more apps and some are even very good. Android has a more open development environment and you don't ...

I would tend to agree. AT&T seems to have constant network problems and their prices are just a bit much. Verizon is just too expensive. TMobile has great customer service but their 3G network is tiny. What most people don't know is that most planes offer free roaming and when you are in roam mode you are on the Verizon network at Sprint prices.

Re: Pre - Hero - Moment?

in the Samsung Moment forum

I don't have a Hero but I have a Moment and my wife has the Pre. 1 The Pre's WebOS is a better OS than Android. It is smooth and the card interface is very nice. Android 1.5 is just a little clunky to me comparied with the Pre or my iPod Touch. 2. So far the Moments battery life isn't thrilling but I just got it. 3. The Moment does have widgets The Pre dosn't. I have to say I am not ...

The Herro is a very good phone. The thing I keep wondering about is Android 2.0 It seems that it will have a lot of the features that make the Sense UI so nice but with better performance. The Basic Google Phones should get 2.0 sooner than those with skins. Also the extra clock speed may pay off under 2.0

All three have a Webkit browser so all of them are full HTML. My wife has a Pre and loves it. The browser is very good. The battery life isn't great but it also isn't terrible. The Hero's 16 bit screen will be just fine. People love it. The Moment? Well who knows yet. It looks great. My perfect phone would be a Motorola Clik with the Moments CPU and screen, the Samsung Instinct HD camera, and running HTC's version of Android. Oh ...

On my A900 it was actually very good. The lack of this and Video really irk me. It is like Apple knew what features the Pre wouldn't have and made sure the iPhone had them. I keep hearing that these will be in. 1. an update. 2. an app from the store. But I have seen NOTHING OFFICAL yet. My wife loves palm and I love the idea of a Palm with a modern OS but it feels a little half baked right now to ...

Well that just sucks. I have to admit that I find that extremely disappointing. My old A900 had great voice dialing, Nokia has great voice dialing, and Apple has just added it. I wonder just what else will be added in the updates like the Video Support. I really want to like the Pre but this is honestly disappointing. I really hope they add voice commands. Being able to play a podcase without looking at my phone while driving would be really ...

"Does the Iphone have a memory slot?, no! " That is a bad answer. I happen to think the Pre looks great but a memory card slot would be a plus I think to just about anybody. Okay it may make it .5mm bigger but I would make that trade off. Not a deal breaker but I don't think that the iPhone has reached unquestioning perfection.

Voice dialing?

Does the Pre offer speaker independent voice dialing? To be honest voice control over things like the play list would be very nice but not a must have but voice dialing when using a Bluetooth headset is just to handy.

Funny but I have had good experiences with Sprint. My coverage is good. They cost about the same as everyone else. The speed is good for Internet stuff. The only thing I can fault them for is a lack of cool phones. So the real question is.... How much?

No GSM but it support high speed on the sprint network. Also it doesn't seem to support voice dialing with a bluetooth headset and it lacks GPS. The lack of GPS is really annoying because the data package that you have to get for this phone includes free navigation if your phone supports it... This one doesn't What Palm needs to make this phone perfect would be. 1. GPS. 2. Support voice dialing. My A900 does so why not the Palms. 3. Support ...

So it does have navigation? What about voice dialing with Bluetooth? I have the A900 and the only things I don't like about are. No Navigation. Battery life could be better. No memory card. I LOVE the SCREEN. I don't think there is a better screen on the market even now. I love the way it feels. It feels like it will never break or fail. Well for one you don't always have Cell service or even EVDO service. What I think is really too bad is that it doesn't have wifi and it doesn't have the option to use WiFi instead of cell service. It would be so nice if you could make "free" calls from wifi locations with the sprint plan. That way WiFi would act as a cell extender.

I don't think this is a complete waste of time but Yes the OS is old and needs to be updated. The lack of true multi tasking is a big one. Can you listen to music while sending email or sending text messages? I am a programmer and while Palm OS was brilliant at the time it is now pretty much out dated. What features would I like to see? Well the big two are wifi and GPS. I may still ...

I went by the Sprint store and they list this at $399! Are they kidding me? I like Sprint and my contract is coming up soon. What the heck I can get an iPhone for that. It did say 249 after rebate for new customers but still this seems really high. What do you think I will end up paying? Or should I wait a few months.

Just got back from a trip Google local found our hotel, where the wedding reception was, and our friends new house. I found it lacking only a few features and I don't know they are even possible to add without a lot of help from the Cell makers. 1. Tie it into the location/GPS system. 2. Allow you directions. When you exit out they are lost. 3. Select locations from your address book. If I am in a town where an old friend happens ...

Anyone having issues with short range using a bluetooth headset? I am using an HS-850 and it breaks up and gets static if I have it more than about 2 feet from my phone! If I hold the phone at arms length it breaks up? Is that normal? Is it a problem with the headset? For the most part they have gotten good reviews.

Sprint gets the razor?

I was talking to a Sprint rep and They told me that Sprint is getting the razor in January. Makes me wonder how it will due compared to the new Blade coming soon. This is JUST what I was told so I would take it with a grain of salt but we know that a CDMA Blade is coming.

Funny I went to another Cingular store and was told that DUN was not supported. Funny my wife asked why the card for the Visor said it supported highspeed data... All we got was that it didn't support DUN. I have to admit that the dataplan is a sticking point. I would use it only 3 or 4 times a year so paying for it for all year seems a bit much.
