Because they can and people will pay it. Simple economics.
Re: sooo what!
When I was using Android phones, it seemed that after a few minor updates (i.e. 2.0 to 2.1 or 2.2) then the phone couldn't be updated anymore to the newest OS because of hardware limitations. This would occur within a year or so of the phone coming out. Also Android is much buggier than the iPhone. With my Android, I would have to turn off the phone every couple of days in order to get good performance out of ...
Re: Buy iPhone 4 from Best Buy Mobile or Verizon?
I also bought at Best Buy and at the time they threw in the Buy Back Protection Plan free. One caveat, in order to get the full price of the buy back that they told you, you will need ALL of the original equipment, manuals, and box, otherwise you will get less than what they advertised.
Re: Talking and surfing
That was brought up by a friend of mine when I told him I was switching back to an iPhone (had it on AT&T but hated the dropped calls and call quality). I had the HTC EVO 4G for about eight months and during that entire time I never wanted or needed to talk and surf at the same time. How many times a year do I NEED to use this? Maybe once. How many times do I want to ...
Re: Battery Life
The battery life on mine is excellent. I have rearely gone below 60% for a normal days use (a few phone calls, lots of text and email, and a couple of hours of internet usage). I also leave my GPS on but turn off my wi-fi when I am at work. I work ten hour days so I am off the charger for about tweleve hours total.
Re: What is the Scoop on Reception?
The reception on the iPhone with Verizon is exceptional. I had the iPhone on AT&T but left the service due to the dropped calls. I also carry the Convoy on Verizon for my work. COmparing the Convoy on Verizon with the iPhone, the iPhone wins hands down. I have yet to miss a call on my iPhone (on my Convoy I constantly have calls go straight to voice mail). The reception on this iPhone makes this THE phone to get. The ...
Re: Tried the EVO 4G...Switching back to iPhone 4
After seven months of using the EVO 4g, I too will be switching back to the iPhone. The usability of the EVO is very hampered. I continually get the text wrong (due to auto correction) where in the iPhone I rarely had a problem entering text. I have also started to have problems with apps just starting to do things on their own (my profiles app has occasionally put my phone into silent mode). The OS is just ...
Re: last time i visit this site.
As you said in another post on this site: "have to keep people honest. if a big claim is made back it up!" You made a big claim about this review, now back it up and tell us why you believe what you believe.
Is there a program that allows users to sync their google docs with this device?
I assume that this will roam on either Sprint or Verizons network even if you are on the other. If I go overseas with it, am I able to use a carriers sim card from over there or do I have to use Verizons/Sprints overseas access (and subsequently pay an arm and a leg for it)?
Does this sync up with Google contacts and email?
I use Google for everything. Does this sync up with the contacts? Also how is the Google email? Is it "push" or very nearly push?
Apps on the Droid
I am considering getting this phone but the apps are what is keeping me on the iPhone. Where can I find a list of all the apps? Does it store the apps on the memory card so I can have it up to 32gb like my iPhone? Will it play all my songs that I have in my iTunes folder? Can I access and download TV shows and movies and watch them when I fly? Please if anyone can point me ...
Re: new update
Just now active. Click on you text message button and then select new. You will see a camera about mid page. Click on that and you have the option to either take a photo and send it or use on already on your phone.
Re: new update
I did the same and I also don't have mms yet. I even rebooted the phone to make sure the update was implemented and still nothing.
Re: iPhone on Verizon anytime soon?
Damn  That really sucks. Thanks for the info.
iPhone on Verizon anytime soon?
I love my iPhone but I am not that happy with AT$T. I had heard rumors that Verizon was going to carry the iPhone sometime in the future. Anyone hear any supposed dates? iPhone with Verizon's reliability is too much to pass up. I will jump ship in a heart beat. The ONLY thing keeping me on AT$T is the iPhone.
Re: soooooo pic messaging?
Summer is over and fall starts the latter part of september I believe. I seriously doubt AT&T will have it together by that time.
Re: How is the reception ??
Likewise, if Verizon were to get the iPhone 3gs then I would switch in a heartbeat, damn the penalty.
Re: Just because
Blah blah blah. You rant about your review being removed yet your posting here is allowed. I hear nothing but sour grapes over your supposed review being removed. BTW, I won't be visiting here to read your reply because I don't care what your opinion of my opinion is.
Re: How is the reception ??
I had the 3G and I am fortunate that I live in an area with great reception. At my work however, there are areas that do have some difficulty. The 3G performed well even in these areas. I upgraded to the 3GS and my home reception has not changed. However at work I did notice that in some of those problem areas, my phone went into Edge (which it had rarely done before). There were even a couple of times ...
Re: Best iphone app ever! (better link)
Why is this the best app ever? It seems to me that if you can look up payphones on your iPhone, then you can just use your iPhone to call and you don't need this app. Unless you can explain why you think this is the best app ever, then yes I would consider you a troll.
Re: iphone 3GS is basically the iphone 3G!!!
I am by no means an Apple fanatic but the increased data speed for the new phone is the main reason I will get it. I use my phone to access the internet and email rather than carrying a laptop. Faster speeds is of prime importance to me.
When will it be available in the U.S?
I read where it will be availble in the UK onJune 19th, when in the US?
Re: Unlock Iphone for T-Mobile
I believe that T-Mobiles' 3G network works on a different frequency than AT&Ts'. Besides T-Mo has terrible 3g coverage.
Re: Techies, please answer my questions!
I had heard a rumor that after the first of the year there are going to be a lot more applications. Evidently until then only free apps can be downloaded, after that the ones you pay for will be accessible.
Googles hosted domain
A quick question, does the G1 allow you to use Googles hosted domain? I use google to host my domain and therefore my email and calendar. It has the exact same interface as gmail does and runs using googles server and software, it uses my domain instead of the gmail suffix. Anyone have any experience with this?
How fast does the email get to the phone?
I use googles hosted domains and I am thinking about getting this phone. When an email comes into your hosted account, how fast does it get picked up by your G1? Thanks
Sprint vs VZW
What is the difference, if any, between the Sprint version and Verizon Wireless version of these phones? I know that the GPS is not crippled on the Sprint side but what other differences are there?
does vzw navigator work on verizon
thinking of switching to verizons q9m. does navigator wrk on this device
How does the VZW Navigator work on the curve? I have it on the Dare and love it (Navigator, not the dare). Does it include the traffic and weather like the Dare? Is the speed on downloading the data fast enough for freeway travel? thanks
Re: Texting default phone number
Great, something else "I can't live without and is going to cost me money."
Re: Texting default phone number
I was hoping there would be a default setting for each one to use the cell phone number when doing text messaging (since you can't really text a landline). Oh well, I will have to go through all 90 of my contacts and make sure the cell phone is the default one. Thanks
Texting default phone number
When I go to text, the default number that shows up is the home one, not the mobile one. Is there a way to set the mobile one as the default?
Dare and GrandCentral
I use Grandcentral for all my telephone needs. How easy is it to use GrandCentral with the Dare? For those who don't know about GrandCentral, you have to press 1 to accept the call on that phone (you can set up other phone numbers and all will ring with the call). So how hard is it to push the number 1 when accepting an incoming call?
Re: Sprint or Verizon?: I might just stay on America's most reliable network
I was leary of Sprint because they seem to be having massive financial problems and have also laid off a bunch of employees. They are also looking to spin off their Nextel division. While I don't think they will go out of business, they do seem to be having some problems right now. Just this last week I called several Verizon outlets and each of them had the Curve in stock. I also have never had a problem with the ...
Re: Motorola Q9c from VZW
I have the Q9m from Verizon. What is the difference between the Q9c and the Q9m?
What is the largest extended battery?
What is the largest (mah) extended battery? I know the Q had one out there that had 3200mah. The most I have found so far for the Q9m is a 2100mah battery. Is there a larger battery than that? Thanks
Are you able to increase the font size on this phone? I like checking my messages in the middle of the night and don't want to hunt down my glasses and put them on to check it out. Thanks
Coverage in Southern California
I am thinking of switching to Sprint/Nextel and getting the direct connect. What are peoples experience regarding reception of regular Sprint cell phone and Nextel direct connect in the southern California area? I am mainly in the Long Beach and Manhattan Beach area. Thanks
