GSM Roaming areas?
Alltel has alot of GSM parter coverage for T-mo and cingular (cell one of southern ill/ former western wireless). does anyone think Verizon may sell this to them? Spin it off? keep the status Quo?
When Verizon bought rural cellular, they sold the gsm portion to cingular (att)
Re: ATT/Cingular friendly?
absolutely! the most amazing part is that 3G is also compatible.
Re: With so many better reasons to cancel...
not really
Hate to disapoint, but att "wireless" is still dead, it will be just AT&T
NO!
NO! it cannot have edge, ever! nothing will give that phone edge, nothing. end of story.
Re: Does Cingular ever waive activation fees on additional FT lines?
my expiriance is never
Cingular Interactive
Did anyone know cingular used to own this before the ATT merger? It was called Cingular Interactive.
Re: Voice Enabled?
UMTS by itself has the ability to do voice and data at the same time. i have done it on my UMTS phone
Re: In a related story ...
Detroit/Ohio will become Ameritech Cellular
sprint has decided to revert to...
Southern Pacific Communications Company a division of the Southern Pacific Railroad
Re: what is the DEAL?
No, thats not there intended purpose. A very unlikely situation could occur where newer sim cards could provide better service. Although one example how it could: Sim cards store roaming information. altering that info could change reception. Now with your question 64k sims are not providing better reception, but balancing you between the at&t towers and the cingular towers. this is so that one network isnt overloaded.

heres some good info

Re: Question regarding WCDMA
yes, att wireless used something called USIM
Politics as usual
Since Cingular will have both Voice and PTT services i have an idea why:
Cingular had two major challenges. First is Qualcomm, based in San Diego, holds and controls CDMA which both Verizon and Sprint use. the second one is more of a educated opionion, Representitive Darrell Issa of California is also a friend of Qualcomm's. Rep. Issa attempted to persuade lawmakers to use Qualcomms CDMA for Iraqi Wireless telecommunications.
Cingular's Website
go to www.cingularextras.com. they have the E1 in the motorola field
Re: anolog repreive??
Rich, do you know if those $300-500 wattage boosters for the car really make a difference?
Re: Question about Cellular One/NPI Wireless merger
im surprised your not getting any good signal. they bought RFB cell on the other side of the state. not to mention legacy cingular TDMA towers in the traverse area that Cingular sold them.
Re: think about it
amen
Re: ATTWS Relaunch?
i read somewhere about 2 month ago that AT&T are holding back their mvno plans.
Nokia 6101
My biggest fear with the 6101 is that the phone being a flip, will it get as good reception as any other Nokia non flips?
iTunes
i have been reading alot about Cingular possibly offering the service on the news this week, does anyone have any input? opinions?
Re: PTT systems
Thank you Rich for explaining this. Do you feel that the better choice for cellco's are kodiak?
PTT systems
What are the differences between Kodiaks RTX and GSM standared for PTT (the standared nokia, moto and ericsson came together to develope)?
Which is better?
Re: The new logo reminds me of...
They have their roots in railroad, from what i understand there name stands for
"Southern Pacific Railroad Information Network."
Why?
with Nintendo DS and the PSP i dont see why they would expand an inferier platform. ive played with a QD and it didnt impress me. i've heard (meaning it could be BS) that those game cards can only hold a max of 32 megs on them
Upgrading
'spose one has a windows smartphone now, would it be possible to upgrade to this version by software upgrade or will phones have to have the tech built in.
Re: WCDMA/CDMA
Thanks for the info Everyone, although extremely complicated new technologies are this doesnt seem that bad to understand
Re: Where's the 6230i
keep in mind the 6230 came out on phonescoop around nov 2003, in came out winter 2004 on cing
850?!?!?!
now its CDMA 850?!?!?! what happened? 8O
WCDMA/CDMA
What are the Technical differences between WCDMA and CDMA. ive had people tell me that its a combo of Time division type techs and code division techs.
Re: Bellsouth + SBC (correction)
simplymarcus said:
Ameritech had their own wireless carrier called Ameritech cellular which the FCC said SBC could not keep then that became Verizon. SBC could not keep ameritech cellular and they wanted to be in the midwest so they bought Cellular One in the midwest and merged it with Bellsouth wireless to form Cingular Wireless. That is just a short version
They ended up only selling the chicago network of Ameritech, everything else stayed with SBC. ex. detroit.
one thing i didnt ...
AT&T Wireless Name Lease Expired
today (april 26) was the last day cingular can officially use the ATT name, even the website is gone.
Re: V3
ACTUALLY... it is a cingular exclusive, but only for 6 months. i also believe this is the sixth month.
Re: US CELL, VERIZON and ALLTEL HOOKING UP SOON
you are not smart...
this conclusion is silly by the idea of a rebate form? check the expiration date. i doubt they will merge and go through FCC regulation in a ew short months. the possible explaination is that there are phones being released in certain market, but not yours. Also, if phonescoop sez that phone a in sold be company b, doesnt mean that company c doesnt sell it.
Re: i love nokia phones
although an ignorant post, that person may be right. i know first hand for GSM nokia is the top performer in RF, but in CDMA may not be true. i have yet to try a nokia CDMA, but i understand that they havnt invested nearly enough time as GSM.
I860 mp3 uploads
does anyone know to upload songs into the I860, any help is much appreciated :)
Re: T-Mobile EDGE
prolly in the markets it shares with cingular and other roaming partners, they have edge up so if your roaming on that ttower my guess is that you will be using EDGE
Re: Motorola v551 and MobiTV, any help appreciated
my personal opionion, it looks like the mobitv is setting up cingular phones that have GPRS setting for single rate streaming. i think once they start deploying for EDGE phones i believe they will have an advanced frame rate expirience.
2 years 2 late

Re: Traveling to the UK over the summer
