Comcast better push VZW for a much better network in their backyard then (Philly)
Verizon teeters between #2 and #3 right now, and is not densifying in the suburbs at all. The only thing saving them is their small cell network in Center City with Crown Castle. When at&t finally goes in on small cells here, their speeds will skyrocket.
LTE-A
I am guessing it does not support carrier aggregation? I haven't seen any reference of it while it is clear the Moto X Style does. Thanks for any input.
$
Still overpriced compared to their biggest competitor Cricket.
Re: Gov now telling businesses how to spend their money?
It's called "regulation."
Doubt it
There are still huge swaths of EDGE20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. Almost the entire state of Delaware is GPRS. No way they'll be able to run fiber and deploy LTE on PCS that fast in this area. There simply won't be enough contractors do it all. And that is the 'fast and easy' way, without adding HSPA+ or LTE on 700 or 1700/2100...
Re: Bogus coverage maps
Verizon's are just as bad as at&t's new maps. They show LTE in areas where you'll have 1X....in New Jersey and Delaware. Flat states where LTE launched over 4 years ago.
All of these carriers should publish better coverage maps. It's ridiculous.
Good luck to them
Advanced Calling 1.0 uses Verizon's LTE 4G network and requires that both devices have LTE coverage. Good luck with that in the Philadelphia market.
I think CDMA works very, very well for voice. I had 1X far too often on my Verizon phone.
Sometimes HSPA+ works (on at&t) better in rural areas for data, and I have a feeling WCDMA(at&t)/CDMA(verizon) will work better for voice calls in rural areas too due to the channel sizes. No harm in having VoLTE ...
Re: Overpriced still
I disagree it's a cheap plan when you factor in a phone payment (via edge) the plan isn't that great compared to older smartphone plans, again unless someone actually *needs* the unlimited talk and text. Is it better than before, sure, but Verizon's single plans with 2 year contracts still beat this (their plan options for a single line are sort of confusing too).
Now if it was $60 a month for 2GB *and* a subsidized (2 year) iphone/S5 for ...
Overpriced still
And yet it's still more money than I pay for 5GB with at&t under an older plan. With unlimited mobile to any mobile, they're almost exactly the same.
2GB with 23% discount: $38.50
Phone access Line: $40
EDGE Discount: -$10
iPhone 5S- $32
___________
Verizon "More Everything" $100.50 for 2GB Yikes! And this is with a 23% discount! (Verizon's single line 2GB plan with a 2 year contract is about $5-11 cheaper than "more everything" depending on the contract phone price.
450 minutes, 5GB data: $69.29
Unlimited ...
Allow a more generous roaming option and charge $
"T-Mobile was given a generous roaming agreement from AT&T in the wake of the larger carrier's failed attempt to purchase T-Mobile, but the exact scale of that agreement is unknown."
They barely allow roaming with a sweetheart deal.
Re: 7 night stand
That isn't how credit cards work. It's simply a hold. That doesn't mean you are out anything. Sure...I wouldn't sign up for this with a debit card, but with a credit card it isn't a loan. The issuing bank never sees the money and T-Mobile certainly doesn't see it.
All hype
No doubt T-Mobile has improved, but this is still all hype. In Philly there are still large pockets of EDGE or even "no service" only 45 minutes from the city.
I can go from 4G to EDGE to LTE back to 4G all within a 5 mile stretch in NJ right outside the 5th largest city in America.
Keep improving the network-but it isn't even close to there yet in the heavily populated northeast IMO.

I grew up with Wheeler and wished him the best on our High School fb page when he went to the FCC. He has become a complete Obamaphile political hack meddling the government in where they don't belong as he did when he wanted to put FCC operatives in the major press news room to guide them as to what needed to be covered.............are you kidding me.

Verizon is misleading, as always
It still *requires* Verizon EDGE. Thus, making it more expensive than AT&T when a phone is owned outright.
AT&T doesn't require Next, and truly is $160 when there are no device payments.
Might as well shut down the rest of the network
Shut down the EDGE and GPRS areas. Save some money. It really seems as if T-Mobile has no desire to compete outside of the top 20 cities and to only target those who never leave a major metro area.
Why bother covering those 75 million with GPRS and EDGE? Maybe it is cheaper than paying roaming fees. Too many areas in the northeast haven't been touched since Omnipoint.
Not to be rude, but this is flat out false
"T-Mobile also offers HSPA+ across its entire network."
False. T-Mobile is stretching the truth again. Many areas in Delaware are GPRS. THink about that...GPRS! Not even EDGE.
I won't even comment on the LTE coverage since all the big 4 stretch the truth on LTE availability. Verizon claims a huge network, but I saw 1X and 3G just as often as LTE in the 5th largest city in America.
Re: Parity
Thanks, I was just looking this info up as well. Verizon I guess has the largest "area", but covers less people. Doesn't make sense for data coverage. Sprint has tons more EVDO coverage in Delaware over Verizon, which is all I care about. Sprint will be 100% covered here by year's end as well.
Does Alltel even have a lot of EVDO? Some areas along I-95 in NC didn't even have 1X coverage in 2004!! Plus, Alltel's network in ...
Re: Expensive
I never claimed it was a bad value, it's just more than I need. I'd use the web option and texts, but I don't talk too much, nor pic message. I'd like to see plans with less minutes, but still has the web access. I guess I'm in the minority: heavy data with little talk. Sprint has way more EVDO coverage in Delaware and similar coverage to Verizon which is good. I hope Helio does well, as someone ...
UDVZW
Hey there, I go to UD too. I think you're on hofo...but was just wondering.
Expensive
For the average consumer, this will be too expensive. No average person is going to leave their network for this. Of course, us wireless dorks might! Most people are still amazed that I can check my email on my phone haha.
Re: $275
I bid $275.
Re: invalid bid
Gotcha, regardless I put it in the wrong spot anyway!
$200
I'll bid $200 for a white p207 :)
