So most statements are pointing out that the deaf community may like a device without all the goodies on a SK3 - where that may be true in most cases, such as mp3 player, speakerphone, etc. I do not agree that B.T. is only for hearing people. It may be for the SK3, but if they can have the SK sync to a PC via bluetooth, ESPICALLY if it will not backup infor on dangers servers.

I have 1 deaf friend/customer who got a 7290. He does like it, but the downside is you have to have blackberry plan. which is 29.99, but only offers 300 domestic text messages. so unless u send text in the e-mail format, that cant be good. so then the 2nd choice is get the unlimited text add-on, which is 14.99, but you need a voiceplan which the cheapest is 29.99 for 300 mins m-f and ...

Yeah, Im pretty sure that the PTT will be locked on the 6101. It may be a feature to be unlocked as rumors indicate that across seas they are testing the PTT feature. But does this really turn you away from purchasing this phone? I may not be well informed, but last I knew was that only Nextel and Verizion had the PTT feature??? You raise a very valid point. Why would they do that? Please ask them that next time. They have locked out the 850 on the Motorola C650/V600/V330/V180. All are able to be unlocked through a 3rd party program.
But that is really a good question, why would they lock it. Unless...during the times that these phones were released, they were consideing the 850 roaming agreements and did not want any of these phones using that ...

Wow. This board has gone off topic. Let me explain some things that are going on here. According to the spec sheet we are looking at 2 different phones here. The 6101 and the 6102 as shown on the top. Now on the "modes" list we see that the phone supports the GSM 850/1800/1900, but at the same time says "GSM 900 instead of 850 on Europe/Asia version".
