AT&T will recognize any AT&T phone whether its been unlocked or not
Get a compatible unlocked phone from another carrier and you're good.
This whole time.... it was THAT easy to do?
I mean a simple executive order to establish the first step towards getting drivers to stop doing things that keep them from paying attention to the road?
Wait, why is it at&t and not Apple being blamed here?
Remember, the iPhone was the first device on at&t to be data required. The agreement at&t signed to sell the iPhone had a LOT of strings attached.
Re: Unlocked IPhone
if you log in to your online account, they know what handset you are using as long as its an at&t IMEI
since yours is unlocked, you'll be ok
Re: Unlocked IPhone
i think at&t will put the plan on if they find out you are using the iPhone since they can see IMEIs
its worth a shot though I think
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
I think it's more accurate to say that the makers of these devices are saying HOW DARE anyone active our devices without using the data? Particularly Blackberry on Verizon's network and Apple on at&t's network
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
I know that at&t through an agreement with Apple has never allowed a data block on iPhones. Looks like Apple will gain even more now that there is no incentive to get a non-Apple PDA now through at&t
Re: I'm Done With Verizon
but Verizon Wireless does have 87.7 Million customers bringing in $58.6 Billion in annual revenue :D
Re: I'm Done With Verizon
You joined phonescoop May 21st, 2009. You don't have any idea about how these forums work. You can try to come in and impose what you think but as someone who has been on these forums for years, I will tell you that you won't get far with that attitude.
Re: I'm Done With Verizon
you're saying that don't have your social or name/address correct?
if they do, and you don't plan to pay, i hope you have no need for credit.....
Re: I'm Done With Verizon
you joined May 21st so you haven't been here that long so I'll just say its because of that you're having problems in this forum
it would have been one thing if you posted the facts of your problems but once you added any of your feelings and opinions you become just another carrier basher to a lot of the people here
how did you ever get in to an ETF situation anyway? you shoulda raised hell on the 30th ...
Re: 3g war results!
hey, at&t is still "theoretically faster" hahaha
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
I meant to say laws and policies are a lot more business friendly here in the states. My apologies
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
You're citing an EU case. First of all, cell phone companies do business differently there. Laws and policies tend to be a lot more business friendly. Also, it seems that the people who are griping are consumers like yourself. Unless manufacturers get in on your gripes, you won't get very far.
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
Wait if you are claiming manufacturers would rather customers block data, you are dead wrong. In fact, the first manufacturer Verizon did this with was Blackberry and its Blackberry that makes resellers agree that their devices must be activated with data or not activated at all.
All Verizon (and soon att) has done is make this policy uniform among all their PDA phones.
If all the vendors are in on this, who is restraining who?
Re: Smartphones/PDAs
Trust me, the carriers have all thought of what you're thinking and have made gigantic contracts and terms of uses as a result.
Also, you're nowhere near close to being the first to suggest a lawsuit against carriers.
And while we're at this subject, are you going to pay for the law suit?
Re: GOVERNMENT DISCOUNTS
the 25% discount does not apply to equipment discounted by 2 year contracts
this would only help you in cases of no-contract or retail purchases
email & web for $30/mo required?
i hope not but i get the feeling it will be
Re: what are the different manufacturers known for
Are you talking about non-Verizon LG's? Cuz there are a few LGs made for Cingular/at&t that may rank as some of the worst phones ever made.
When it comes to Verizon, they're totally different.
Re: Env3 is coming on May 29th for all you text junkies!
Dual Touch usually means you can touch 2 places at once instead of just 1. Kind of like the iPhone
Re: Env3 is coming on May 29th for all you text junkies!
Neutered OS = Cheaper Data Plan.
I'll take it! :D
bout time!
and it'll save battery life for those 2G only customers too!
Re: Blame the iPhone!
more like blame it on other peoples' iphones 8)
Re: Verizon retailers selling used BB Storms as new?
it's not necessarily used
that other account could have had the wrong ESN
Blame the iPhone!
This is what's happening. Any CDMA-based network will experience reduced coverage the more it's being used. This applies to Sprint's and Verizon's 1xRTT and EV-DO networks as well as at&t's W-CDMA based UMTS network (also known as at&t 3G). T-Mobile's will be affected as well.
If you have a lot of iPhone users sharing that tower with you, that tower will have a much harder time reaching you
Re: Let's debunk this myth
http://support.vzw.com/features/calling_featu res/new_every_two.html
Nothing in there about being obligated to a plan $34.99 or higher after the point the customer signs the agreement.
The customer only needs to be on $34.99 or higher up to the point he/she signs the new agreement.
If you see any verbiage that states otherwise, please reply with a link.
Re: Let's debunk this myth
and then after you put in the signature, change it =P
Re: Let's debunk this myth
the new every 2 credit is based on fulfilling 20 months out of the 24 month contract the person signed originally
the reason why it drops off when the plan amount is changed is purely a matter of the billing system
it's not a loophole or anything like that but a matter of an employee or manager trying to avoid overriding the mechanisms of the billing system too much.... the IT guys would have a fit
by upgrading first and then changing ...
Re: Additional Line 6mo. Later
once again, every phone number has its own contract
there's no group contract
Re: So ...
why would you change the name? just turn their provinces into states
10 provinces in Canada and 31 states in mexico
convert some US Territories into States and we now get 100 states =D
Let's debunk this myth
There's no such thing as a family plan contract.
Every phone number has their own contract regardless of whether you share minutes or not.
With this said, what the rep wants your sister to do is to get her "New Every Two" upgrade deal and then do an "Assumption of Liability" to move her phone number to your billing account and then change her line to a $9.99 secondary share line.
Re: US Virgin Islands
AT&T and T-Mobile charge roaming for Guam which is also a US Territory. It's determined by the carrier in the US Virgin Islands that serves GSM and the carrier that serves CDMA
Re: Is the Krave really that bad???
Everything I hear indicates that the Krave is good but the software on it is bad. I do have hopes for the new software! =)
Re: Any phone on any network?
any compatible phone on any compatible network
currently, locks are keeping even compatible ones from working on different networks
Re: my love affair with the Omnia is over
How long did it last?
Re: Netbooks will change the industry! Can anyone say Free Laptop!
Tech Support?
How bout reformatting for every problem the customer comes in with. Just gotta tell them they need to back up their data first or its all gone. Oh don't have a way to do that? We sell flash drives!
Re: What new Data plans would you like to see?
I don't mind the extra training it would take for me to be able to offer more choices, especially to my business data customers
What new Data plans would you like to see?
I think the 5GB for $59.99 is fair. How bout a 20GB for $79.99, 50GB for $99.99 and 100GB for $149.99 and Unlimited for $199.99?
At least this way we can tell a customer they coulda been on a higher plan
Re: this is great, except...
As long as the netbooks default to wifi or LAN first before going on VZW's network, things should be fine
Makes a lot of sense
Considering a lot of Netbooks are cheaper than phones at retail pricing
