Hi everyone... I have searched through the forum and I can not find anything on my problem so I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. You do not need the data cable to put MP3s on the phone. You need the data cable if you plan to use bitpim to create your own ringtones. MY PERSONAL OPINION: Start with the 8100...if you don't get good reception go to the next (I would suggest 9800 if you are ok with the price).

I know what you are talking about. I am pretty sure you can't just listen to it on the handset without everyone else hearing it. If you do find a way let me know. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I definately would rather stick with VZW, even if I have to pay a little more. Rarely get dropped calls and if I do VZW will credit me minutes for it. Every customer service has its problems but VZW's is the best I have seen.

If you go into the menu > Get It Now menu > 1. Get Tunes & Tones > 3. My Sounds > it will be there. By the way...when you are recording it only records the other part of the conversation...you can not hear yourself in the recording.

The one from Radio Shack will work...but because it only has 2 rings on it, it does not fit securely. I got mine from this site... http://pc-mobile.net/mpx200.htm It is the last one on the page: MP35A It took it about a week or so to get but it works great for me.

You need to make sure they are really in mp3 format. Try re-converting them all...sometimes it says they are mp3s but they really aren't. And you also need to make sure the names of the songs are 47 characters or less including the ".mp3" The phone will not recognize it if they are longer. Hope that helps.

A good use for this would be if you are flying or in a hospital where you can not normally use a cell phone. You can still use your mp3 player, watch anything from your "MY_FLIX" folder or play games.

I guess my question then is...if yall are so OCD about everything being protected (which I am also) why would you not use the leather case? I understand it isn't the most attractive thing on earth...but it protects it quite well.

I have the leather case too...I just completely inspected my screens and I don't have any scratches at all...on either screen

This option is for the "disco lights" on the front. When on they will flash when you receive a call or an alarm goes off.

There is a post 2 threads down from yours entitled "Access your Ringtones from the MiniSD Card!!!" I usually go ahead and try to help someone even if the answer is right under their nose...but come on man...try reading a couple threads before you ask (you didn't even need to scroll down the page!!!). If you still have questions after reading that thread, ask again but give details as to what you don't understand so someone can help you ...

You can play movies on the phone. The format has to be ".3gp". You put them on the card under "MY_FLIX". You can then watch them on the phone.

Also make sure the name of the mp3 is 47 (I think it is 47) characters or less including the ".mp3"

The card reader is the device that you plug into the PC to view and add things to the card. The adapter is what turns the mini SD into a normal size SD. You will need to have the adapter also unless your reader will take the mini size also.

This has been discussed a million and 2 times...the only way to get your own ringtones is to use bitpim.

EXACTLY. I do not use it for that very reason...but unfortunately you can not get your own ringtones any other way.

You need to make sure the songs are really in an mp3 format. You can find free converters for this online and I think I saw someone say you can use Windows Media Player to do this. Once you have the songs on your PC and they are in mp3 format, you put the card in the card reader and either "drag & drop" or copy and paste the mp3s onto the card from the location on the PC ...

Try doing *228 send as far as the pix messages. If not call *611. The VZW banner is done under the "ERI Banner". I don't have the E815 so I can't tell you exactly where it is...but it should be under the display menu somewhere.

I think you already spelled it out for yourself. 1. VZW coverage is better 2. Your family is on VZW 3. Your friends are on VZW If you don't know people on Sprint/Nextell to be able to use the push-to-talk and you don't feel like calling everyone and telling them to call you back so you can utilize the free incoming minutes then you really are just going to have a phone you like but can't use much.

BUT...if I used my NE2 on 11/7/05. Then I did the early upgrade on 11/7/06 that would make my NE2 be available again on 11/7/07 and my contract would end on 11/7/08. So more or less you would get the NE2 every other time you get a new phone.
