Any word on the S4 heading to MetroPCS? If so, then I will gladly wait for the S3 price to drop to a reasonable level................

CURVE VIDEO CAPTURE UPGRADE??
Apr 2, 2008, 6:29 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8320 forum

I've read many websites that state there is an upgrade 4.3 or 4.5 of the Blackberry Curve OS that captures video. I also saw a YOUTUBE video clip of a Curve with a beta version of the software and it looked SWEET. Anyone know of this? I called RIM and TWO techies said they knew nothing of a Curve or Pearl OS upgrade for video recording...............unless they were playing dumb.

CURVE less than TREO/DASH
Oct 11, 2007, 12:21 PM
in the BlackBerry Curve 8320 forum

I was so looking forward to TM getting the Curve. Then I played with it at my TM store and walked away disappointed. NO VID capture? Cmon, RIM...time to keep up with the rest of the pack! My Treo 650, while a few years old in the technology age has VID capture and touchscreen, which only the Windows Mobile full smartphones offer. OY! And the Palm OS STILL is the easiest to use. Yes the OS is ...

HUGE MISTAKE on RIM's part. This is supposed to be a DASH/TREO killer, but I'll happily keep using my Treo 650 with touchscreen and video capture........and the EASY Palm OS..........

So we agree..............that any Treo is still a better device than the Curve?

I have the 650 and the 680. Personally, the older 650 performs better than the newer 680. Until someone comes out with a new smartphone that does ALL that the Treo does, I'm sticking with it. And PALM is still the easiest OS to use..........

It PLAYS imported video but cannot RECORD, which is a BIG strike against it. Here is the CNET review: http://reviews.cnet.com/smart-phon es/rim-blackberry-curve-pale/4505-6452_7-3262 6249.html?tag=promo I'll keep my TREO for now which does EVERYTHING, and with ease...................

NO, it PLAYS video but does not CAPTURE video.....................definitely a missed opportunity for RIM. I'll keep my TREO for now which does EVERYTHING....................and with ease..............

Blackberry Curve for TM....
Aug 13, 2007, 6:28 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

I've been told that September is the target month for T-Mobile to get the Blackberry Curve. I was told by 3 different TM reps via phone conversations after lengthy discussions regarding my account, service plan, etc. The Curve is almost definitely my next phone. I currently use a Treo 650 and this BB looks good. I wish it had video capture and touchscreen, but since TM doesnt carry PALM anymore, the BB Curve is the way to go...............

Same here, but mine is an un,ocked one from Palm (using T-Mobile sim). Im also getting lots of rebooting when I switch from an app back to the 'home' page. I liked the 650 home page layout much better. The decreased weight and size of the 680 isnt THAT noticeable and other than the 64mb RAM, I havent seen any real upgrade from the 650. Overall, Im not impressed.

in the Palm Treo 680 forum

Anyone else have an issue with their 680 resetting on its own? It seems to happen a bit too often for my liking. I am using an unlocked 680 from Palm with a TMobile sim. Also, it seems to reset almost everytime I go from an app back to the 'home' button. What gives?? Im not crazy about the new home page setup. I liked the 650 layout much better. thoughts/suggestions? thx

in the Palm Treo 680 forum

Im about to order an unlocked 680 from PALM and I wanna hear if anyone has encountered bugs/problems if any, like there are on the 650? Any freezes, reboots, etc? I know that some 3rd party apps mess up the 650, like TCMP. Other questions: Is the broswer faster? Are the datebook features improved? Did Palm put in any file managers? Its SO needed.....................

1) Why does the Dash suddenly turn on from sleep mode for no apparent reason? Conversely, why doesnt it turn on when receiving an incoming text messzage or email? 2) You should be able to show My Faves no matter what home skin is chosen. Its silly that the My Faves icons have to be hidden just because you choose a skin other than the T-Mobile default. 3) Why doesnt the AIM icon show up on the home page? I only ...

LOL.. thats a good one. Heres a better one: When I go to the Sports Network News channel, I get the same report about GAME 2 of the World Series!!! Can you give a critique of it?? Im curious to see if the improved underbelly reduces the number of crashes and resets over the 650. Also, is the 680 BLAZER really faster than the 650? I like the move of the sd card to the side (Im always popping mine out by accident), but Im not a fan of having to remove the battery now in order to remove/install SIM card..............wonder why they did that...............

This one isnt even close.............Ive used the BB and I own a 650. Even the 650 with its quirks blows away the BB. Ive already ordered my unlocked 680. Nothing out there is easier to navigate thru than Palm and touchscreens rule...............

TEXT ENTRY and Messaging questions...

in the HTC Dash / S620 / S621 (Excalibur) forum

Is there a way to default the DASH to regular typing, without the 'smart type', or whatever thats called when you type the suggestable words show up? I find that very annoying.............. also, why cant I send a TEXT message to an email address? The DASH tells me I must send from my email account to another email address. If so, thats beyond silly. My treo does that with ease.................am I mising something?

Just got handiTV today. Its just OK; there are channels that my DASH will not show vid, only audio. The channels that do come in work ok. I watched my local ABC+ channel on regular Tv and the DASh and its appx 5 seconds behind. Choppy as well; not always streaming. It needs work. If you DONT NEED it now, I would wait and save the 20 bucks.

HTC/T-MO missed the boat again. This device BEGS for a touch screen. That plus the high priced data options will keep me away and keep me enjoying my Treo 650 for a while longer.........with $6/month data plan!!!

WHY NO TOUCHSCREEN???
Apr 8, 2006, 2:22 PM
in the HTC SDA (USA) / SP5m (Tornado) forum

I think that was a huge design flaw. Part of the greatness of the Treo is the ability to use both keypad AND touch screen. The SDA needs a touchscreen to offset the small button usage. Also, whats with TM's net plans? I currently have TZONES for $5 a month using a Treo 650. I surf the net just as if I were home with my PC. Now, if I wanna switch to an SDA, I ...

Treo 650..............best smartphone out there for GSM. Hopefully, Palm will make a GSM 700, and the Motorola Q will only be CMDA for the time being, so if ya want one NOW, take a look at the Treo 650. It does everything but wash your car!!

Treo 700W.............not so hot?
Jan 6, 2006, 7:36 AM
in the T-Mobile forum

I've read several reviews now on the new Treo 700, and so far, it seems as if the Palm/MS folks have rushed out a slightly inferior product. Software bugs, multi step functions for simple tasks, resolution less than a 650, memory mgmt issues. Im hoping that if/when Palm makes a 700P, the Palm OS wont have these problems. It seems more of a MS Mobile topic than the phone itself. PLUS, Verizon's service plans stink ...

Here comes the spanking new TREO 700..........for Verizon..........with Windows Mobile 5 OS...............and where is TM? Nowhere to be found. In fact, I have heard from more than a few folks in the 'know' that say TM will NOT carry anymore Palm products at all. SO.............if there is going to be a 700 GSM phone with the Palm OS, it aint gonna be with TM...........which of course means paying 500-600 for an unlocked Cingular if/when the time comes. ...

Went to my TM store to play around with the BB 7105. What a disappointment. First off, it feels like the plastic demo models that stores display. I almost thought it was a demo until I turned it on!! good point..............I was sort of leaning towards the 7105, and since its a genuine TM device, I'll feel safer with my investment...HOWEVER, the BB doesnt list Palm as one of the platforms that the phone can sync with. I have a Palm at home and ALL my contact and data info on my desktop. Would I need a 3rd party sync software?
