They are quoted as it being 'exciting' but 'not enough' is your interpretation. As I reader I come in to this article thinking the OS isn't enough for the consumer when in actuality the Sprint spokesperson is referring to RIM not being able to regain it's original foothold. This is misleading. As a smarthphone user (who is clearly who this article is directed to, given that the topic is BlackBerry 10 and that it is exciting, ...

It stands for HSPA. Do you have an Android or Windows Mobile device? It usually means you are connected to a cell site that may only be at UMTS speeds if it just says 3G. If it says H you are connected at around 1.8 - 7.2 mbps theoretical. Depending on what phone it is, 3G just may mean that your phone is 3G available but not using data, and H refers to using data.

BB Torch, Sony Xperia, Dell Streak... who needs the iPhone anyways. And we had exclusive on it for just long enough for it to become just another contender. Our network is had become a beast, we're pacing to be the #1 customer base carrier again...it's over baby. Suck it VZW.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on you hearing rumors about the completion of the Alltel divestitures to AT&T. To get the Alltel/VZW merger approved by the FCC, VZW had to give up some assets in certain areas to AT&T. AT&T just completed this transition. You can read about it here: http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pi d=4800&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=30889

Because Phone Scoop is such an amazing community of geniuses, right? This forum is a joke, and you are on some high horse thinking you know everything wireless. Over 90% of the threads on here are full of demented speculation or outright lies from salespeople who think we'll believe any bs that comes out of their mouth. I think Scott Herman deserves a pretty decent commendation for at least having proper grammar for once.

6 months to pay Early Termination Fee?
Dec 29, 2009, 6:05 PM
in the AT&T forum

Has anyone heard about any sort of regulation where customers have 6 months to pay off an Early Termination Fee with no late fees? I have heard multiple people (employees and customers alike) talk about this, however in searching through official company rules and on the internet at the FCC website I was able to find no such thing. Anyone ever heard this? Have any official documentation?

Anxio, did you mean slower than EVDO? AT&T EDGE is capable of over 200 kbps, whereas Verizon's 1XRTT data is capable of 153, real world speeds around 50-100. Verizon's 2G is slower than AT&Ts. Verizon's 3G is slower than AT&Ts. Falling back on EDGE really isn't that bad. You still get decent speeds.

Far less than 1% of AT&T's customer base is affected by this. I don't think spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign that affects off-network users in a rural area that Verizon probably doesn't even service either is very effective. But I forgot you never had a formal education, so I guess that explains it.

You won't have a local number, but you can do manual programing. No big deal. I would love for someone official from VZW to see you saying this. This is a huge no no for all telcos. The company has to pay for every minute, text, and kilobyte of roaming ...

Something I think people have been overlooking about this app is something that AT&T's network team can't test: people's perception of the network. Drive tests and other independent network tests conducted for AT&T show dropped call rates and other network failures continue to fall, yet on forums and blogs people continue to bash the network. With this application, AT&T can compare people's perceptions of what is happening with what their real reports are giving them.

The 8300 is so cheap on ebay because that's the current market price, or in layman's terms, that's the most someone's willing to pay for it. Most Telcos don't mark the retail prices up that much from what they get from the manufacturer. If any part of the price is "artificial", then it's primarily coming from the manufacturer.

The problem with Klausner, from what I have seen, (and please someone correct me if I'm wrong), is that they seem to just be holding the patents for the sole purpose of suing people who use them and make them pay royalties for their use. That is just unethical. If you have a patent, I believe you should be obligated to use the patent and bring your product to market. Klausner has had the patent since ...
