I wouldn't bet on it not being touch screen even if it is windows mobile 5. The treo 700w has windows mobile 5 with a 240x240 resolution and is touch screen. I am concerned that there is no directional pad though. I hope it doesn't have a jog dial. If it is a jog dial, then I would assume there is no touch screen and would behave like the Q. Anybody find any more info on this phone yet?

I know that the last version of Active Sync to support 98 was Active Sync 3.7 and the latest version to be released is 4.2. or Has anyone purchased this phone and used the Active Sync version that has come with it on a 98 machine? If so, how is it working? Please let me know as my Father inlaw is ...

I have the same issue with the BT headset. The 700w only supports "Hands Free" not "HeadSet" profiles. I was told by both Palm and Verizon that there might be a fix for this but they had no solid info. I won't hold my breath but you never know.

Still much better than giving a child free reign over something that is almost impossible to control. Teenagers and children must play with things that are new to them or to fit in with a crowd. I still think this is a great idea.

Although I agree with many of the statements on this forum regarding the look of this phone and lack of functionality, I must confess that I am considering buying this phone for my 8 year old daughter. I love that there are only 4 phone numbers in the book and an emergency number as well. I have an 8 yr old and a 12 yr old daughter and I have found out the hard way that trusting teenagers with ...

forgive my last post. That was the error I was getting when I would try to connect using the Blue Tooth places for the BT device I have attached to my PC. When I would try to connect through BITPIM it wasn't working at all. I will try again tomorrow and let you know where I stand.

I used it the other day to add new contacts and it worked like a dream. I would say it is 95% accurate when angle and focus are good but can be a pain if the angle and focus are off. Remember to always have the focus set to MACRO on the camera do this by setting the slide next to the camera lense to the picture of the flower.

Here is the story regarding the web surfing. Vcast is setup to allow you unlimited text (in network), unlimited web and unlimited streaming video from the Verizon server. I was told that the unlimited web is only to specific sites that are assigned by Verizon where as just paying for the unlimited web allows you to go to any site that can be viewed with the phones browser. Vcast is $15.00 per month where unlimited text is $5.99 and the unlimited ...

I have the 9800 but was trying to figure out which phone to get for a while. It was a choice between the a970 or9800. I played with the a970 for a little bit in the store and felt that the a970 would have been a bvad choice. Blue Tooth and Volume issues

I went into the Verizon store at Times Square in NY this morning complaining about the volume fluctuation that I have been experiencing since having this phone (1.5 weeks). Basically I was told that i must be hitting the volume while I am talking. WHATEVER! Then I mentioned that I was unable to use the 8100 as a dial up modem. I just got the 8100 and I like it alot other than some minor things. I traded in an e815 for the 8100 and the menus are very different. With e815 you were able to send ringtones to yourself and apply them as ringers but with the 8100 you aren't able to do that. Has anyone figured this out besides using BitPim? It would be great since I have some nice ringtones I would love to transfer to this phone. Thanks ...

Well I exchanged the e815 for the lg vx8100 on Saturday and have not had any problems. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by this phone. It feels sturdier than the v710 and e815 ever did (even out of the box) and I like that there is no play in the hinge at all. I have gone through 4 e815's in the last to months. Of those 4 two were exchanged because they were rebooting on their own. I brought the first one back and they exchanged for a new one. When I complained about the second one I was told that I could have a virus on the first exchange so when they ported my phone book, the virus traveled to the second one. Well that kinda stinks. I really have nothing against the idea of not having the touch screen other than web browsing. I mean you can kinda get around everything else by navigating using buttons and jog dials but hard to navigate a web page that way. I hope they reconsider thsi in future models which I am sure they are already working on knowing Palm. If you know anything that make me think differently, please let me know. Thanks

I have one question. The windows mobile software has always been set up on smaller form-factored phones such as clamshells (Motorola MPx220) or non-flip (Audiovox SMT 5600). I am not sure what the reasoning has been, but these phones never accepted input from the screen (via stylus) where the Pocket PC versions (Samsung i730)have all been larger in size, non-flip and have always worked in much the same way as a trditional stand alone Pocket PC (HP iPaq's). This Treo ...

Funny you would say that as I thought of that myself.
