Gmail integrates nicely on the iPhone, email, calendar and contacts. You have an option to display all the mail in one inbox or keep them separate. I myself keep it separate with conversation view turned off.

I am not sure about internet filtering, I am sure someone out there can explain that. But there is a free program/app called K9 Web Protection, for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod. http://www1.k9webprotection.com/ I’ve installed it on some computers for people wanting to do the same thing and it works great. Everything is based on categories and you can even do time of day and so on. I have never tested it out on a phone though.

I bought the MiFi device a couple weeks ago. I like it, the speed is decent. I use it for work to log back into the office and it works well. I even streamed some XM radio through it and it worked well.

I bought the MiFi yesterday. A few times a year when we go camping I need to ability to still login and check on things back in the office, I just don't feel like signing a 2 year contract and paying $60 a month. This little thing is nice. I have played with it now for 2 days, the speed is decent and it lets you login to it like you would a router and setup your SSID ...

Yes. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cell phone/9823/ •The Dual-Band model works with all carriers listed above. Cingular (AT&T), Verizon, Alltel, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Cricket, Suncom, and Sprint (not Nextel). It is a bit pricey and I do not know of anyone who has used one but I would say it is worth researching.

veedubbmann, thanks for explaining this, most of the news feeds I read failed to mention this. You explained it good. So now for all of those people who think it’s going to hurt them, they have nothing to worry about and can still upgrade if they choose to.

Re: replacing a phone

This probably goes against the norm, but my wife was in a similar type situation. I ended up going to my local walmart and buying her a Go Phone, it was an LG Neon. I am sure some people will say something bad about this phone as everyone has an opinion, but it does the job. She doesn't want a whole lot of features, just a qwerty keyboard for her texting and occasional web use, which this phone does well ...

Tethering would be nice. We were promised that before the end of last year but it has yet to happen. Multi exchange accounts would be nice too as well as a missed call or voicemail notification. That’s one thing I miss from my old phone, was a beep letting me know I missed something. If I step out of my office and come back and got a call it is hard to know unless you pick up ...

I hope you sales people are able to make some money on it. I for one am in interested in purchasing one. I work in the IT field and if I can run the same apps on the iPad that I can on my iPhone, things like making a VPN connection, using a remote desktop session to look at something or remote into a workstation etc, I like the concept of not having to pack a notebook for a long weekend ...

I agree, many people think the iPhone is nothing but a toy but put it in the hands of an IT Administrator like myslef and I can do things on it that I had a really hard time doing on my Blackberry or Win Mobile Phone. I can establish a VPN connection with my iPhone and then open up remote desktop and remote into a server and reset passwords or unlock accounts or lock accounts just as if ...

I think agree with your comment. I am an Apple iPhone user and I like it, it does a great job for me, I am not a fanboy or anything, the phone just does what I need it for and coming from an HTC 8525, I really like the small footprint of the phone. However, this past weekend I went out of town to a state park here in Indiana where cell phone service is spotty, always has been ...

I am a fan of Roll Over. I had a relative in the hospital last November and I am glad I had Roll Over. I went over 600 minutes or so with in a week, you don’t think about how much you use until something happens. I am thankful for having the extra minutes so I didn’t get hit with an extra price for going over my minutes.

Go to settings, then phone, then services, and band selection, under select network type change Auto to GSM. It does extend the battery life. For some reason 3G sucks the juice out of it, putting it in GSM mode only makes it run on EDGE and the battery lasts alot longer, the speeds are still not bad.

The signal is good and seems to work all over, I travel a lot for my job all over the US and have no problems. The voice quality is much better. That was the first thing I noticed when I switched. I switched from VZW to ATT sometime back and have no regrets. I currently have the 8525 and pay $39.99 a month for unlimited data. VZW in my opinion is too expensive, again that is just my ...

Instant Messenger Question
Sep 6, 2007, 6:36 PM

If this has been asked and answered before I apologize. Do instant messenger programs use your data plan or does it count as text messages? I have an 8525 with an unlimited data plan. I know I can use things like Yahoo and Google Talk but I am not sure how they work. If it counts as Data then I have nothing to worry about, if using them count towards text messages then I could see my self going ...

Do you have another PC to install the software on? If it worked on another PC and not yours then it could be something specific to your PC that is blocking it or keeping it from running.

I just switched to at&t and got the Razr V3xx, I love the phone, it does what I need. Thinking of switching to at&t from VZW.
Jun 19, 2007, 2:16 PM

I am strongly considering switching to at&t from VZW. I am not bashing VZW but here lately I am struggling with trying to use my phone at home, which is something I have never had problems with before. This problem is something that has started within the past two months, I do not know if it is the phone or the service but either way it is very frustrating. I take very good care of my ...

I live in an EVDO area and most of the places I travel too are EVDO and my phone is fast. When I am traveling I use my E815 as a modem and when it is in EVDO mode it is as fast as my DSL at home.
