Is your phone supported by Mobiledit? Check this at their website. Also, it can only access the application folder in some phones. But for file transfering, this is much more useful than other software, universal, developing, whole project of mobile solutions.

Mobiledit has drivers for roughly 200 phones, these are phone-pc communication drivers though, not cable-pc drivers. You should get a cable driver bundled with your cable. Otherwise, it is a very useful software and you can keep it with different phone makes you get later.

If using Mobiledit you can easily download your own mp3s and other stuff as well, it manages most phone content of many phone models.

Audio files can potentially be sent as an e-mail attachment but check that the phone is able to read these. Othervise use a software tool to transfer files, like Mobiledit.
