I was thinking the samething. Love the new android phones, but no UMA calling is a deal killer. Looks like it's Blackberry again.

Re: What ever happened to the femtocell????

I'd love to know as well. VZW's CTO annouced it in April. In a marginal area and a femtocell like sprint has with the airave would solve a lot problems - and keep us from having to move to sprint (which is horrible).

Re: Phone Logs are deleted

in the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 forum

I'm on my 3rd and last 8130 (vzw). All have had the memory leak issue, but thats a software bug and still exists with the .97 update. The other thing I've noticed with the .97 update is a lot more dropped calls or calls that fail to place at all. So what started as a great phone (the first few weeks) has turned into a junker. Having to babysit a phone (watching the free memory, pulling the battery every ...

I'm curious as well. When I talked to the rep - she said she'd pre-order it, but it wouldn't ship until the 8th -- and she wasn't sure how concrete that date was... then I saw your post and few others on howard saying they got tracking #'s.

Re: Data Plan Options..
Aug 31, 2007, 5:36 AM
in the Motorola Q forum

two options on vzw: 1) $25 for 10MB/mo (you'll burn past this pretty quick just checking email, etc) 2) $45 for unlimited - this is worthless as you can't use it as a modem.. just a way to milk extra cash out of you. I've had the Q since it's release (well, re-release of the black one). I use about 60MB a month checking/sending email on 2 accounts. What verizon needs to bump the $25 plan to something like 50MB ...

same here (verizon version). however, not so much because of the music player, or any of it's features, but rather the size... thing is like an ipod nano.

Charger port - is it mini-usb?
Nov 30, 2006, 4:19 AM
in the LG enV VX-9900 forum

Is the charger on this phone mini-usb (like the razr, Q, etc) or is it some LG specific connector? Asking because I'm going to pick up the phone tomorrow, if it's mini-usb, I won't need to pickup a car charger for it :) thanks.

what about the old trick of creating an mp3 on the computer, renaming it to .mid and emailing to your phone? worked on the razr.

1. From the main menu, type #073887* then type 000000 for the security code to enter the programming menu 2. Select ok 3. Scroll down to test mode. Enter the menu, highlight "enable" and press the right soft key to select 4. Reboot the phone 5. Hit the left soft key and the menu key simultaneously until a white screen appears with the letters "FTS" on top. This may appear automatically when the phone reboots 6. Hit the right soft key three times 7. Scroll ...

Re: Battery problems

in the Motorola RAZR V3c forum

I set the phone to CDMA only (1x), disabling Evdo. My battery life and talk time just about tripled. Check howardforums for how to disable evdo (it's pretty easy). the constant checking and switching between 1x and EVDO keeps the power amp on way too much and just drains the battery. Since I've got no use for evdo, this was the best tweak I've done in sometime.

Got the same problem. Appaently verizon is aware of the issue but doesn't have a solution.

Re: Anyone had experience with the Moto V710?
Jun 29, 2005, 4:14 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

I've owned all three... had the 4400 for a year - good overall phone. lost it tho... so I got the Moto V710 as a replacement. Very good reception (better than the 4400). However, the phone is huge and I've only got so much pocket space. so swapped the 710 for my current phone the LG6100. I too love the user interface on the LG's. It's intuitive and easy to use. However, I also agree on the reception.. it kind of sucks (relative ...

Low Battery Beep - Plug in - phone still shuts down
Dec 6, 2004, 6:00 AM
in the LG VX-6100 forum

Anyone else experience this: You're on a call, low battery message comes up - plug the phone into the charger (and it says it's charging) yet 2-3 minutes later the phone powers down? As though you never plugged in at all? This happens every single time, so it's not some one off thing. I have noticed, if the battery is very low - but I plug in BEFORE making the call, no problems. Basically. if you are on a call and plug in when that message ...

front display - is it readable (v.s. a530?)
Jul 3, 2004, 3:33 AM
in the Samsung SCH-A670 forum

i just returned a A530 i picked up a week ago - mostly because the outside LCD isn't readable at all when it's not lit up. Never realized how much i used it (to check time, don't wear a watch anymore) since the A530 was to replace my vx4400. The VX4400 is readable w/o turning on the backlight. So is the A670 better than the A530 in this regard or the same? thanks

I'll probably go with the LG as well. This last phone I've been using (vx4400) for the last year has been flawless. the only reason I'd consider the v710 is for the amps support. there's still a few places where you need analog to get a signal in los angeles.

if you are considering switching providers to get a particular model of a cell phone than I can have only one suggestion for you. a life, get one.

in the Motorola V710 forum

this is why I only sign up for 1 year contracts. You can upgrade at the subsidized phone price at month 10. you pay $30 more for the phone - but big deal. it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying full retail when you got 22 months to wait.

Re: if this phone is $499 dollars, would you still get it???

not a chance I'd pay $499 bucks for that phone.

Re: Wait or Not
May 27, 2004, 3:44 AM

I'd wait. In the meantime try the following: bring up the menu list - hit 0 - enter 000000 for the password. than go to option 3 (force mode) and set it to "cell only" this will disable analog support but still allow cdma/pcs. I've got it set in this mode for the exact reason you mention. out in malibu there is digital (weak but it works) but it switches to analog but i can't get a call out on it. using an ear ...

Re: Talking while charging your phone?
Mar 13, 2004, 4:27 AM
in the LG VX-4400 forum

no..you can talk on the phone while it's charging. I do it with both the car charger and the home desktop charger. For the home desktop charger, you just need to take a dremel and carve out a little section of the base where a headset plugs into - then you can attach your headset to the phone while charging and make calls.

Verizon is the best. I've had all 3 and spend alot of time in fringe areas (malibu, etc). Verzion has signal almost everywhere.

I'll gladly take average feature phones + great coverage over what sprint offers anyday of the week. Sprint's coverage is horrible. At least here in Los Angeles.

VX4400 system services menu questions
Nov 24, 2003, 4:50 AM
in the Verizon forum

In the system services menu on the Vx4000 (0 off menu - password all zeros) - it has a force mode. The options are: Automatic Cell Only PCS Only CDMA Only Analog only I understand what they all mean with the exception of "Cell Only". I'd like to force the phone to only use digital signals (either verizons or sprints, since we can apparently roam into their networks). Why? when I'm up in malibu the phone jumps to analog mode, but I can't get a call out ...

Re: VX-6000 coverage

In areas where my Vx4400 jumps from digital to analog I usually can't get an call out anyhow, so I honestly don't think it matters.
