EDGE doesn't work well on anything. Once you have gone 3G, absolutely nothing will compare. Oh, and speaking matter-of-factly, EDGE doesn't even come close to broadband speeds. I worked for that lousy excuse for a company for three year. I know what I'm talking about.

I have to say that I completely agree with you on this particular post. I'm sure that the phone is very nice, but I can't see where AT&T can justify having to sign a new 2 year agreement just for the privelege of buying the phone with absolutely no discount.

A little known fact about Cingular is that once you do 3 exchanges on the same model phone, XBM has to offer you a comparable phone. I know this not only because I've done it several times (most recently with the Motorola V400 and the Siemens S66), but also because I'm in management with Cingular. It's great for people who don't feel the need to be on the phone 24 hours a day and for those who have a life other than talking on the phone. Personally, I have the ERP with 1000 minutes (no mobile to mobile, rollover, or nights & weekends) and I NEVER go over my minutes.

T-Mobile wouldn't have half of the coverage they have if not for the roaming partner agreement with Cingular. Cingular's network is MUCH larger and vastly superior to T-Mobile's network. GSM is the world standard, my friend. CDMA is pure garbage. Verizon does have top notch customer service, as they should, because they need to have superior customer service when their phones won't work in half of the places a GSM phone will work.

Because there is a roaming agreement between T-Mobile and Cingular, the "Who's better" argument is basically null and void as far as coverage goes. Cingular can use T-Mobile towers, and T-Mobile can use Cingular towers. Now, the matter of customer service may indeed sway people (this is where, as you stated, Cingular is lacking), but Cingular definitely has superior coverage and a MUCH larger network. If there weren't monopoly laws in this country, Cingular could easily acquire T-Mobile. As ...

I must recant my previous statement about the RAZR. The initial shipments were garbage, but I decided to buy one (only after seeing the price drop significantly). The new V3s are much improved and I'm very happy with my purchase (although the Sony Ericsson S710 is still at the top of my wish list).

My friend, all Motorola phones are junk. I just wish the rest of the free world would see that. I have owned the MPX 220, the V400, and the V551. The V551 is the only one that I didn't want to throw in the trash, but it wasn't that impressive either. I don't care what anyone says, Sony Ericsson phones are superb. They are rivaled only by Nokia as far as reception goes.

The RAZR is pure garbage, as are all Motorolas (with the exception of the V551). Having worked for Cingular Wireless for the last 6 months in Tech Support, I've seen this phone returned more times than any other.

Verizon uses a CDMA network. This is a GSM phone. Unless Verizon plans on changing it's entire network, then this phone will be Cingular. :twisted:
