On TracFone, the camera is only 7.8 MP, not 12 MP as advertised
The TracFone version of this phone is only 7.8 MP even though the specs at TracFone claim it to be 12 MP.
The secondary "depth" camera doesn't even seem to be hooked up to anything, or at least the camera app doesn't seem to know anything about it.
My guess is Motorola added up the resolution of the two rear cameras and came up with 12 MP, but someone forgot to tell the developers of the camera app about it.
Re: Memory Cards for this phone?
It uses the Memory Stick Micro "M2" which was discontinued in 2009. It can be up to 32 gigabytes in size.
It is easily unlockable
This phone is unlockable but it has a tricky step. Unlike what you may have heard this phone *can* be unlocked over the phone with AT&T provided you and the phone qualify to have the subsidy lock removed. GoPhone customers such as myself do qualify; it depends how long you've had GoPhone and how long you've owned this phone.
There are almost no internet services that can do this online by the usual means of sending a code ...
Cannot work in a vehicle
One thing that keeps this technology out of our hands is that ATSC is unable to work in a moving vehicle. It simply cannot handle the Doppler effect like DVB-T overseas can.
ATSC is a stupid, stupid system.
MediaFLO is the only real and working mobile handset TV system in the US, unfortunately.
Too bad MSV does not do real voice services
It's too bad Mobile Satellite Ventures does not now and will not soon do voice services the way you're thinking of. Best they can do is store-and-forward Push-To-Talk and medium-speed data.
Re: Time to pay up!
Sprint is nearly bankrupt again, why should they not wait to the very last minute to pay?
Re: Damn!
The European version isn't a Centro, though, it's a different size and shape altogether.
Finally!
Finally, the Centro on a network that actually works!
I'm finally going to ditch my drawer full of prepaid AT&T and T-Mobile phones.
Re: This is one of the times that T- Mobile needs to be first with this
Given the coverage quality of T-Mobile vs. Cingular/AT&T in my area I'm glad it's available for Cingular/AT&T first.
Even if the data plan is horribly expensive compared to T-Mo.
Re: Dropped Calls
The dropped calls on UMTS are because the UMTS band is at both 1900/850 MHz and the phone's radio will have an affinity to one or the other band for voice. Cingular voice calls have an affinity to the 850 MHz band because its signal is stronger, but I guess this phone prefers 1900 MHz when data is engaged.
When UMTS is engaged the phone is evidently using 1900 MHz for voice which is unfortunate because HSDPA uses 1900 ...
Prepaid on Sprint CDMA network is horribly expensive
I'm trying to find an affordable prepaid provider that uses Sprint's CDMA network. The only ones I can find are Virgin and Liberty Wireless/Inphonic. I'm shocked how expensive Virgin mobile is. 25 cents for each minute for the first 10 minutes a day, then 10 cents per minute afterward? For light users this is horribly expensive. The Liberty Wireless/Inphonic is a little cheaper but requires a regular monthly fee.
What I want is ...
